Would be a nice callback to when Tony wouldn't let him have Blomsky in the Avengers too.
Actualy, it's the other way around. In the consultant one shot, Coulson and Sitwell are tasked by the world security council to recruit abomination from Ross. They rightfully think that's a terrible idea so they send Tony who they know will get under Ross' skin to sabotage the recruitment.

There needs to be the scene where Thanos shows exactly how powerful he is and almost kills every Avenger without trying.

Just effortless party wipe.

I would shit my pants if we got to see Thanos snap his fingers and destroy half the galaxy lol

If Cap goes to hit Thanos he should end up like he's on the wrong end of being in a fight involving Saitama.

Still, it's a movie and I'm sure they'd never do that, so I fully expect Cap and Tony to fight thanos and survive for at least a significant amount of time making all the build up a bit of a waste.

I just hope they finally give Hulk a 1v1 fight vs a villain that isn't an afterthought. I mean, the last two avengers films made it fairly clear he could have wiped Loki at any point and ultron didn't even try to fight Hulk...

Wow...that's certainly an impressive number. I suppose Superhero Fatigue hasn't really set in yet.

Oh, and on the earlier conversation of potentially returning villains, it should be noted that Red Skull, Malekith, Ronan, and Ultron were all 'killed' directly by infinity stones. If, the next stones also directly dispatch a major villain, I wouldn't be surprised if they're all brought back as a supervillain team.

Probably deserves its own thread. I'm still under the belief that BvS will gross more due to Batman but this makes new wonder how set in stone that really is.
Anecdotal, I know, but I've seen far more hype for any Marvel movies than Batman V Superman. I saw a lot of hype for Suicide Squad but people seem to be sleeping on BVS. I reckon it could do a billion but the poor taste of Man of Steel is still in people's mouths and I think audiences are still jaded to 'it's not The Dark Knight'.

They'll probably do about the same, I'd think.

May 2016 will be the most horrible time to love superhero movies on NeoGAF.
It will be like a war and sides will be choosen and... Eh.

(Has someone a civi war meme for this?)

All my "bro" friends are into both but much more hyped for BvS because they love Batman so much. Conversely, Civil War seems to have more traction with a broader audience including some female friends who aren't interested in BvS at all.

Like you said though, it's all anecdotal.

The shaky cam and quick cuts added to the fights imo. It's not like Quantum of Solace where you can't see half of it.

I feel like we're now at the point where it's so common in action films that people now want to defend it as an artistic choice and not a choice made out of convenience.

I'd be more willing to accept this idea if they didn't do a cut for just about every fight ever. I literally cannot remember a specific move in any of the fights at all, meanwhile I can remember almost the entire fight between Neo and Smith for a reason.

They weren't willing to go through the effort of making a fight look real without a bunch of cuts. If the fights only lasted like 3 seconds I would understand it, but there's so much of a focus on it and yet the actual cinematography and choreography is so lacking.

I really have no clue which would gross more-but I'm thrilled that we are getting two giant comic book movies in the same year. If I could go back in time and tell my 13 year old self this, it would be unbelievable. I just wish GAF could cherish both instead of breaking down into the typical Marvel vs DC crap. Just love them all!!

I'm assuming you're taking about Winter Soldier here. Most people remember the killer knee to the chest, the goddamn suplex, and the knife struggle. Less memorable but still cool scenes include Bucky taking the shield and Cap manhandling Bucky into a RNC. None of that includes the two awesome running scenes on the ship and after Fury is shot that don't involve quick cuts or shaky cam.

Unfortunately I can't remember these shots at all, but I'll take your word for it.

However I don't think that diminishes the effect all the times the quick cuts/shaky cam were used had on my experience seeing how it's the main take away I had from it in terms of criticism.

Different strokes and all that. I can sympathize with having action scenes ruined with distracting cuts and shaky cam but I personally didn't find it to be so in WS.

May I ask what country you're in? I wonder if Batman and Superman are more beloved in America than Europe because I don't really know anyone who is a fan of the characters other than liking The Joker. (UK)

Nah, the movie can't be blamed for your poor memory.

You forgot the best part:

I could see Chris Evans doing that.

Well I'm going through the major action scenes right now and between this and the GSP fight there are almost zero shots that give you more than 5 seconds before cutting to a different angle while shaking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_WnCLJJ-Mg

Shots over 5 seconds are not the norm in ANY movie genre. For action scenes, a shot will generally last 1-3 seconds, unless there's specifically a longer tracking shot (like the DD hallway scene).

Oh, and the shakey cam is absolutely used for effect in that specific scene.

Its bullshit, Evans said this for way longer.

I know. But i'm really fucking tired of people STILL spewing that bullshit.

The last solo Iron-Man movie bitchslapped nolan's batman best. And Cap is more popular than ever was before.

I can't believe I just read this statement on GAF
(actually I can but I wish I hadn't)
. Now I remember why I try to stay out of comic movie threads until I've seen the movie and want to discuss what I saw. Too much fanboy stuff otherwise. Not sure what made me jump in to this thread other than liking what I saw in the trailer.

Just opinions, man.

I mean I don't agree either but there's no reason to get too emotionally invested lol.

Edit-Unless he means money wise, at which point lol really man?

The discussion seems to be about money, and how well each movie will do compared to the others. There's no question that the Marvel movies pull in a lot more than DC's outings...the question is if Superman + Batman will be a big enough draw to outdo what is essentially an Avengers film.

'bitchslap' was just a pointless choice of wording, I think...

TDKR made $40 million more domestically than IM3 tho so the US still loves Batman more. Why Man of Steel and Winter Soldier are being compared randomly... I dont know? This aint the time place or thread.
