I feel like Toriyama forgot about that for a while now.

I don't think zenkais have been mentioned or demonstrated at all since the cell games. But you never know when Toriyama or Toei might decide to start using them again.

That's what I thought and I'm kinda glad he forgot. Zenkai is cheap as fuck. What's stopping them constantly getting someone to shoot a hole in their chest and just eating Senzu bean lol. I certainly wouldn't put it past Vegeta to do that (I mean he already did it once during the Frieza saga).

Goku already knows Gohan is a bookworm and probably wants no part in the tournament. Also it's a way for us to see a new character.

No way is Gohan as strong as he was when he fought Cell. He was weaker when fighting Dabura and that was after a few months of training in preparation for the tournament. He's lapsed even more since then. Tagoma is Imperfect Cell level at best.
So you are saying Piccolo is even weaker than imperfect cell now?
Didn't we already see Ginyu in a flashback? Or was that in the movie.

Yes, we saw him hopping around during the revival.

It's nice to see them making changes to the movie, which was... not great.

The Z Fighters vs. Frieza scrubs was like 10x longer in the movie, and the only thing we're really missing out on is some Jaco shenanigans. Oh, and Gohan went out like a little bitch in the movie. At least they gave him some kind of excuse with it being a sneak attack in the show. And it looks like he'll still get to do something next episode.

they should have elaborated more on freezas training. how does a few months training with a scrub power you up that much...as well as powerup the scrub. you'd have to hold back the entire time so as to not kill him. is he like a saiyan where he gets a power-up every time he gets a near death experience?

I think we still might have another flashback when we get the golden form introduced. This one was clearly focusing more on Tagoma.

eh. the sneak attack in this on gohan and sorbet's attack on goku in the movie...sigh.

Yajirobe basically went to live at Karin's as a way to make senzu beans scarce again.

I dunno how many other ways of quick healing Vegeta has at his disposal.

What's wrong with pink?

Nothing at all.

I can't believe some of you guys prefer last episode's fight to the movie's. In the movie everyone got some extended screentime and the fight was great, here it was so abbreviated. I mean I can see how you might prefer Super's treatment of Gohan, but all the Frieza soldiers getting destroyed was so fun in the movie.

Id argue supers version was worst honestly

Because the movie version felt like nothing more but filler to pad out the movie when instead I would have preferred some of that time to be focused on Frieza or Goku/Vegetas training

I liked the new stuff with Krillin and Tagoma a lot. Though I agree that the whole battle was surprisingly brief.

But hey, let's enjoy animated Dragon Ball going at a brisk pace for once.

The main issue with the movie battle is that narratively it was a big nothing. This one has character moments during it, even if it's shorter and with worse animation.

Just saw the new opening. I like the new additions to it.

Unless Yamcha is trying to touch Bulma's ass, he does not have his left hand at the end with the group shot.

Yep. The movie version seemed to be Toriyama's response for people complaining there wasn't enough action in BoG but there was barely anything to go along with it.

I think that with DBZ, though, a good fight is often the substantive part of a movie or saga. The narrative of this story arc isn't so great (Frieza resurrected, battle ensues) that you can minimize the action without losing something.

Plus Krillin's character moment didn't really resonate with me...he's faced scarier shit than some mid-tier Frieza goons.

It was fun action so I'm cool with it. But I like the changes the show is making so far.

This too. Really I'm just glad to have more DB. Just interesting to see the divergent opinions, which was bound to happen.

There's usually some tension though, like holding on for someone else to arrive or even just power ups. The grunt battle just lacked all that due to being pure fighting with basically no script.

If Buu doesn't care about the Earth what makes you think he'll care to fight in some universal tournament.

True. What I'm hoping for is some sort of thirst for power.
I want him to become slightly evil to the point where he feels threatened by others stronger than him.

They can play with Majin Buu's back story quite a bit. There could be something that comes along to motivate him.

I know the show has been out for couple months now, it still blows my mind that we are watching new Dragon Ball content in 2015. That adds to story, DBZ finish when I was like 2 years old!
