I'm liking the changes for Super. The fight with the jobbers in the movie was extended and arguably the best part of the movie (Goku and Vegeta just proceeded to kick Frieza's sorry ass lol), but the events in the series are more interesting. Besides, the preview sort of implies that Ginyu and Gotenks will have a role to play, and that is fucking awesome. Gotenks was the second best thing of the Buu saga (the first was of course Majin Vegeta, we miss you buddy) and deserves more love.

Piccolo seemingly has no business in the tournament because he should be weak as fuck (he was at SSJ level during the Cell saga and that's it), so I wouldn't be surprised if he stepped aside and went as an advisor for the team instead, as that seems to be his strong point. I hope not everyone in the tourny will be god power because how King Kai and practically everyone else reacts to pre-Super Frieza power, there shouldn't be many at his level, which even to this point only at most a dozen have gotten as powerful or more than Final Form Frieza.

The written test is just a one off explanation for there being intellectual beings in the fight. I don't expect anything more than a 30 second gag with Goku and Buu during the test before it cuts to the start of the tournament.

Also remember when Buu fixed the tournament brackets so that Goku could face Uub in the first round? He at least knows his numbers so he could put the right number on the ball. Buu is childlike but not completely stupid.

Tien was legit awesome during db but I hated him during z for whatever reason.

Tenshinhan is the one martial arts focused character who isn't blessed by stuff like Super Saiyan and fusions, and in spite of that didn't give up, unlike the other humans. That's what make him stand out in later DBZ in spite of not having much screentime.

Yeah he was, that was his first role as total good guy so it was cool. I don't mind him showing up to fights etc even now but he doesn't really need a major focus anymore.

It's the natural side effect of having to create filler in the first place. They can't usually do much with the core characters in a given story arc, so fleshing out the supporting cast members who don't get much screentime and aren't crucial to the plot is the obvious direction to take.

Actually Toriyama recently explained that anyone can fuse with anyone; however, the two fusees have to be perfectly synchronized when performing the dance, which is physically difficult if the two have very different sizes.
