So it did 1.5 mil shipped+digital sales?
The dots are a little confusing, but anyways that's a good start for the game.

Pokemon, MH, DQ and Yokai Watch are the biggest titles in Japn.

Kinda hoped for 2 millions FW but still pretty good.
Monster Hunter is saving console gaming in Japan! :lol

Why did you want to to do 2 mil. on launch in particular? :P

Digital on eShop is not included in this number, and digital is quite large for the title due to the massive stock shortages.

Holy shit those are massive numbers, especially considering this is just for Japan. Also, what are the biggest FW numbers for any game in Japan? 3 million?

Could end up with 2M LTD before the year ends. Congrats Capcom!

How many games in Japan have sold 2M this year? YWB seems like the highest selling game of this year and it's like 1.7M (without digital sales).

The only reason there wasn't a Monster Hunter character in Marvel 3 was that the MH team didn't like the idea. I see it very difficult that they'd approve the crossover beyond the Rathalos and Hunter costumes we already got.

I still think they could just have a Felyne be the Monster Hunter rep on the crossover fighting game (I am also thinking about smash here)

Bit of a silly question but MHX is an expansion or stand alone game, sorry I'm on media blackout for most MH games ^^;

Famitsu tracks games and digital codes sold at retailers. They don't track purchases made directly off the eshop. However last I heard it is already at #11 for highest selling eshop titles in Japan.

MHX is a spinoff from the MH team. It reuses a lot of assets from MH4U. However there is a lot of returning monsters from prior games, new signature monsters and other content. It also is focused around 4 different styles of combat and is a bit of a different take on the standard MH formula.

Ah so it's a stand alone game then.
Thanks. SHould it get localized I'll def. check it out. I know MonHun 3 and 4 are very well regarded but they seem like too much time sinks for me
Which is weird to say as MHX might be that too, but reading about the gameplay it seems to be a game right up my alley.

There's no might, it is.

Its still gonna be a time sink since it is a Monster Hunter game, after all. Although they added a new armor upgrade feature where you can "level up" your armor and upgrade them by feeding in common monster drops rather than grinding endlessly for the 2% drop rate gem/plate/etc. the series is so fond of, so the grind is lessened over past titles in the series.

With this launch, it's likely that about 50% of the total retail software sales for Japan for the calendar year have all been 3DS games.

Will have to wait for Dengeki to make sure but that's likely the case.

To make myself more clear, half of the total physical games sold in Japan for the first 11 months of the year have likely been 3DS games.

breaking news : an almost 20mln system is selling more than all others combined (vita 4mln + PS4 2mln + WiiU 3 mln)
