Now everyone knows he's really Black Panther.

What's with EW and phoning in covers, hell, the Antman cover was at least inspired.

Also,

Somehow a better cover than the posted ones.

It's almost as if EW thinks that people other than comic book readers read their magazine.

Can't believe so many of you are so upset over a stupid magazine cover.

A MAGAZINE COVER

They legit trying to make people not take the best black character in comics seriously, I keep forgetting Chadwick Boseman is playing T'Challa since he hasn't been seen outside the mask

Look at all these nerds and their nerd shit. You nerds need to get some taste. Why can't any of you neeeeeeeerds grow up and move out of your mom's basement already?

Remember when Time magazine killed VR with that terrible Time magazine cover a few months ago? VR never recovered. It's going to be the same thing with Black Panther. He'll never recover from this debacle.

Are people actually mad about this or is it sarcasm? I honestly can't tell

Some people in this thread seem legit mad. I don't get it, but whatever.

If it said "Don't go see this movie" on the cover, I'd get it. A stupid joke isn't a big deal.

I cannot wait to see the Fox News headlines reacting to a superhero named Black Panther. What nefarious Obama-led conspiracy will they unearth?

The look of BP alone should instantly tell people he's a badass. I mean, EW tried really hard to ruin DoFP Quicksilver and look how that turned out. :)

that's just cruel..

i have faith in the Russo bros to pull off a well written, fleshed out character whose motivations and skill set make sense.

I cannot wait to see the Fox News headlines reacting to a superhero named Black Panther. What nefarious Obama-led conspiracy will they unearth?

i am eagerly awaiting this

The only way this makes sense to me is if they thought Black Panther was a woman at first and wanted to be really sexist about the housewife comment but than found out he was a man and the editor was to lazy to change anything but the gender.

Cover seems fine to me. The BP joke is lame, but whatevs. I think it shows how very little the public knows about BP more than anything else. In fact, I'd say the general public know nothing about BP.

I can't wait to see the photos in the magazine. I doubt a Spider-Man picture will be included, though.

Has anybody called it racist yet?

Gaf as a collective needs to relax. And this is coming from a panther fan

Here's my hypothetical. Not a justification either.

Marvel insisted that EW have Black Panther on the cover. EW thought scary faceless dark dude would turn off the female audience and lead them to believe this was a dude's movie. So the added the "meow" and Real Housewives reference to grab eyes of the folks interested on the show, and to also say "Hey, Black Panther isn't a menacing black man, he's just a big ol' pussy". Marvel signed off on the cover, of course.

Again, not my justification:
EW isn't marketed to men, i.e. you guys, you fucking nerds. This cover is EW trying to grab housewives and women to the screen. Black guy isn't going to make women comfortable.

Nonsense!

Also notice that the top of the cover teases the new "Creed" movie, but it says Rocky is back in the Oscar ring — it mentions a white character, not the black character who is the protagonist of the film.

EW is racist af

So let me get this straight regarding Civil War, based on typical GAF spoilers:

-Thanos is in this.
-Black Panther is a cuckold that says "meow" all the time.

Marvel, publicly apologize and cancel Captain America Civil War or you can kiss your business goodbye.

This is something EW does a lot.

Thing is, I think they underestimate what BP stands for for a bunch of black comic book fans. Or even some casuals.

Oh, and that plus the Creed cover makes EW suspect.

I'd say that got more of a side eye from me more than anything else on the cover TBH.

I hope Marvel nails it and make them mad, who will be mad? Everybody
