Xenoblade Chronicles X - Review Thread

I just want to say that I feared the worst when dual audio was deconfirmed. After the first few hours I can say that this is a NIER quality localization, with as good as possible voice direction. I would pick it over the original cast if I had the choice for the setting.

They didnt do the bad localization of Drakengard 3 right? Nier was great (drakengard 3 kinda missed some points/ made zero a very angry/mad person compared to japanese voice)

Is there any chance XC will be released on the US shop? Or should we give up? (Can a wii disc game be played on the pad?)

It'll probably show up eventually. The question is when.

Also, that game would support GamePad controls since it's got classic controller support.

EDIT: wait, you said disc. Physical discs can only be played with the originally supported controllers. In this case, Classic Controller or Wiimote + nunchuk.

what are some good spoiler-free streams?

I watched the RPG Site stream and the Giant Bomb quick look

just need something to satiate me till Friday lol

I haven't really watched much of this game but I did see a scene with HB. Whichever glorious bastard decided to have the smug glasses jerk voiced by Wesker, I salute you.

I live in a town that doesn't have any game retailer, lol
I would need to get a car and drive for 10+ minute to go to the mall and hope to find the game.

Is that one of the outfits in the game? Because if so I am so going with Blonde short hair and a british accent for my character.

no, because europe is ahead of NA by anywhere between 5 and 11 hours depending on time zone here and location there.

i.e. it's 10:37pm in London right now, 5:37pm where I'm at in NA.

Yeah, I know. Just like it's 12:15pm on the 3rd already where I am. Technically, it's less than 2 days until the official release was what I was generally saying. Exaggerations do not come across all too well sometimes. :P

Yargh. Amazon reps you slay me. Every rep says something different (which I guess is all too common with CS reps). Just spoke to rep who said, "I am showing here that the reason why the delivery date was changed is because the item is currently unavailable and we are still waiting for the stocks to arrive.

This is for the CE. Sigh...so tempting to just go buy the thing at Best Buy/Target on the way home Friday.

I can't believe IGN still hasn't put up a review. I guess they just don't give a shit about Nintendo.

I know IGN sucks and all, but their reviews hold a lot of weight for the general public.

Don't worry, the reviewer came buy and say he will publish it during the week.
He is enjoying the game :)

I just spoke to a rep a few minutes ago, got

"Xenoblade Chronicles X Special Edition - Wii U " hasn't been released yet and the expected release date is not known. We'll make sure to update our website listing when we have more information."

Not sure if that was a copy/paste reply, or if that means that their system still hasnt technically dated the game yet and there might be hope for shipping soon. Seems odd they would say the expected release date was not known. Compared to the terrible responses the other reps gave me, this one atleast seemed decent. (I had one keep repeating "Kindly wait for the delivery date to arrive")

Please help Gaf, this night shift will never end. I made it worse by firing up the game and play it for a bit before work, now I'm stuck in time...

I'm kinda surprised the Gamereactor review wasn't added.

Metacritic has gamereactor Sweden and gamereactor Denmark, but not gamereactor UK lol.

Anyways, the game will settle into an 84-86 range with what should be about 20 reviews to go based on the previous games. I thought at the minimum the game would be mid-80s so it hit the low end of my predictions. Ah well, game is out on Friday.

If you can listen to music at work then I say blast that OST:

I don't like that blue tint they put on the thumbnails. 6/10

Lol, well at least I'm not the only one. I did ask if they could upgrade the shipping to one day and the rep said it would cost me $6. It still wouldn't arrive Friday though. Just told her I'd rather not pay extra for the game to still not arrive on time.

I am jealous of the peeps posting their "shipped" screens though. I've had Amazon come through at the last moment and update the day before. Hopefully that's the case for us!

Additionally I've been playing games my whole life, but I've never felt like a bigger nerd than when she asked me what the name of my item was and I, a 33 year old man, had to say Xenoblade Chronicles X.

8-4 delivering as usual

"Uhm...do you guys have Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker :)"

Maybe you can spend your time by checking what class you gonna do on the wiki ? (if it can help you endure it ofc)
Yea, that's a good idea. I was bound to lose hours in game for that purpose, so I guess I'll do some research in advance since I'm pretty much going in blind into this game in terms of its class systems, groups (squads?), Skells, etc.

Cheers for the playlist, will listen to a couple but I enjoy the feeling of listening to something for the first time while playing. It always adds something more to the moment.

I don't know why people pre-order on Amazon and then complain about not getting the game on release day. Yes sometimes you will, but more often you're going to be waiting a couple extra days or sometimes even a week depending on the demand. It's the tradeoff for the convenience of not having to leave your house.

But personally, I'm just going to walk into a Target after work on Friday and have zero problems with picking up a copy.

am I the only one who's going to take a nap then roll up to wal mart at midnight and grab some X and then smoke two joints while reading the manual before starting the game?

Lol they tried the same crap on the shipping with me. Guy offered me One Day shipping, I said "Sure", he said "Okay that will be an extra 4$". Did ended up getting One day from another rep later though.

I saw a post on another forum about the Guide though. Its giving release dates of next week as well, so a couple people contacted Amazon and they were told it was due to a combination of lack of stock to deliver on release day and lack of carriers to deliver. Hope thats not the issue for this as well, just have yet to see a single person with release date on the SE yet.

Also if you think thats bad, trying picking up a game like Onechanbara at Best Buy while the woman at the register is examining the case......

Agreed. There is no way they could improve their system, without ensuring that they wouldn't massively break the street date.
