Fan Favorite PS2 Games Launching on PS4 Tomorrow

The fact that no upgrade path exists for PS2 Classics on PS3 makes me very wary of purchasing any of these. When PS5 rolls around, am I going to be asked to pay full price again?

I'd be totally fine paying $3-$5 to upgrade but this is pretty ridiculous.

probably. Now that I know they are gonna be doing this shit, I'm done buying them again. I'm fine if it was a deep discount like Nintendo, but for there to be no option at all is crap.

Yeah, no thanks. I would have been super stoked for real BC, or even carrying ps2 classics forward. But I doubt I'll purchase anything here, certainly not for $15.

$15 is steep. I'd probably pick up DQVIII at that price if it comes out in the future just for convenience, but probably won't use this feature most likely at these current price points

Fifteen dollars.

Don't get the outrage about prices... you're not going to find copies of Rogue Galaxy cheaper than that, and the old GTA games are the same price on Steam.

Also would rather have this than just play PS2 games show up as is... a lot of them are rough to look at these days.

Will definitely buy Rogue Galaxy.

Yeah...I still remember years ago when Square Enix put Final Fantasy VII PS1 classic on PS3. People complained about it being $10 even though used copies were well over $50.

Are these prices relatively speaking any worse than Nintendo charging WAAAY over the odds for old NES games that were literally like a few hundred kilobytes big..?

I think for people who'd bought the same games as PS2 classics on PS3 this does suck, and I'd rather see $10 which for me could translate down to £5/6 but looks more like they might be up to £10 in the UK. That IS steep, but if they release anything I truly want to play again I'll maybe consider it. I wonder if Gran Turismo 3/4 comes to this if they can allow you to have analogue trigger control for accelerator/brake. Since these are tailor made ports surely they would do that.

Not what I wanted. I just wanted backwards compatibility with higher resolution support, and for Sony to just vomit games onto PSN.

With this, I'm not sure that smaller gems will ever be supported. Getting publishers to create trophies for older titles will be like pulling teeth. Incredibly disappointing.

RIP Shadow Hearts 1 and 2 for classics :(

sooo I've never played Rogue Galaxy or Dark Cloud and I really want to. I also don't own a ps2 anymore so paying 30 bucks to be able to play them on my ps4 with updated visuals and trophies doesn't seem like a bad deal, but I understand the frustrations from people who already own a version of the game.

With GTA being on there I hope Sony can work out getting The Warriors on there.

Please. That is like my most requested along with TS2.

$15 is fine. I think it's only not fine because many people own these titles already in the past. Actually a deal considering Wii games digitally are $20 a pop.

Lol those prices for basically just trophies.
Not even some upgrade cheap price like the Wii->WiiU system.
For shame Sony.

Sorry am I missing something? Why is everyone complainning about the price? I thought it was a pretty damn reasonable price point. Dropping $60 odd on new games seems fine yet this seems pricy for upscaled versions?

The price point is ok if you don't yet own these games.

The fact that owners of PS2 Classics on PS3 are not being given a discount is completely inexcusable. Nintendo does it. MS actually goes one step further and doesn't charge anything extra if you already own the digital license.

1080p upscale and Trophies remote play/shareplay, etc support seems like they put a bit of effort into these versus the PS2 ROM dumps on the PS3. Price isn't the issue here, but whether there will be quality games coming in the future.

Yup. They need to put these out a quick rate. I'm hoping some rare/gems get added to this. I really want Shadow Hearts.

Bummer prices and launch line up. Really disappointing PS2 classics from PS3 won't carry over as well.

Would buy the Sly Cooper games for the fourth time if they go up here. Not sure I'll be buying anything on this list (maybe dark cloud).

Have to know the quality of the emulation, now that I think about it. PS3 added several frames of input lag making fighters nigh-unplayable.

Hype deflated...a bit.

Hoping PS2 games will be a tier for PS+ IGC. As each day goes by the PS3 tier becomes less and less relevant so it'd be nice to add PS2 games for PS4 owners.

Why wouldn't people just rip their PS2 collection to their PC and use an emulator, instead of rebuying them for $15 on PS4 when the only difference would be Trophies?

All the first party stuff is worth it. 3rd party is 5 too high but they are higher res and trophy enabled.

Seriously... people have no problems paying $40/$60 for barely souped up versions of last gen games. They keep cranking out remasters for a reason. $10 / 15 for great PS2 classics is an outrage?

Well, they shouldn't be just given a discount. They should be getting it for free, as part of crossbuy if they already own the title on the PS3 as a classic. If they don't announce that as part of their press conference announcement tomorrow, then people can make a lot of noise and there's a good chance Sony will change their tune.

There will always be complaints and that's totally ok. It just tells you how awesome Sony are doing when this is what we have to complain about. There were pages and pages of posts from people bitching about getting Walking Dead full Season 2 for FREE.

Well cross-buy would be ideal but I'd personally accept paying a small upgrade fee.

Maybe it's because I've been conditioned by Virtual Console, but these prices seem reasonable to me. And they're not much higher than PS1 classics on PSN.

It's not like these titles will never go on sale or anything.

The price is fine imo. Aren't PS2 classics themselves 10 bucks? So it makes sense some of these games would range from $10-$15

It's a shame there isn't any sort of upgrade program for the people who already own these classics.
