Fan Favorite PS2 Games Launching on PS4 Tomorrow

There doesn't seem to be a thread on Twisted Metal Black. I like the nostalgic look of it, but this is the first time playing it.

I must be doing something wrong, but it seems the enemies are all giant damage sponges. Would love to read some impressions of those that are familiar/experienced with the gameplay.

Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
With your logic we should have to pay for upgrades and patches, too, since people worked on them.

Well, we already pay for upgrades and patches via DLC and expansions. So, yes. My logic would be: if it made financial sense to charge for something you do it (as in: if it only gives you bad press and hurts the long term sales you don't do it). Either that or you plan ahead and make sure those costs are factored in at an earlier stage. To sustain a product you need some income in order to pay for the workers. This isn't a charity.

Our lovely pal Wario64 was at the PSX event and shared some more info on his twitter:

PSP emulation may be in the works of some sort? Not much for PSone

He also says he has no info on when we'll see Dark Cloud 2. :(

I wonder if we'll be needing to rebuy our PSP games (but with trophies) or we don't need to rebuy them again (but with no trophies). Although the ideal solution is we don't need to rebuy and they have trophies.

Frankly, we shouldn't even have to ask whether we would need to rebuy PSP games on PS4 or not. After Sony had cross-buy for such a long time, and Nintendo and Microsoft followed suit, and the digital media industry at large supports transfer of content across multiple platforms, it should be expected. The fact that we are now in a position where people question whether PSP games (or PS1 games) would transfer over or not is a sad state of affairs.

Sony needs to sorts this out as soon as possible. They need to figure out how they are going to honor cross-buy with PS2 classics between those purchased on PS3 and those purchased on PS4. They have now fragmented their own digital PS2 game library by implementing them differently on different platforms within their own ecosystem.

I would go as far as to say that Sony should step back and not release any more PS2 classics onto PS4, until they can figure a customer-friendly solution for cross-buy or migrating content as their competitors have done. If they continue to sell PS2 classics on multiple platforms as separate purchases without cross-buy, then this just creates a bigger mess that they'll ultimately have to clean up later.

These classics do come with remote play and share play not just trophies. Remote play is huge for some of us so paying $5 extra is worth it. And no I'm not rich.

Playing Rogue Galaxy, i manually turned off my controller.. when I came back and turned it on again, the game couldn't see it and remained stuck on the "DUALSHOCK 2 analog controller not connected" screen... eventually had to just close the game. Next time I loaded it, my save file was gone... (I was only half an hour in thankfully)

I just tried to reproduce this and couldn't.. but maybe the emulator is a little buggy? Anyway so, be careful with controller disconnection I guess!

You know, I really appreciate that MS added bc to some of the 360 games. Its not apples to apples yet but if I were a decision maker at Xbox I would jump on the opportunity to bring some original Xbox games to the Xbox One.

Would this force Sony's hand? Probably not. I don't really have a beef that they are charging a premium for these emulated versions of the PS2 games as much as I have a beef with specific games being classics and not carrying over.

Colin from Kind of Funny mentioned how it annoyed him and thought this whole thing was much a do about nothing, entitled et al. I can agree with him to a degree except that Sony has set a precedent in the past that games you buy with the classics branding are cross buy. Buying a PS1 Classic game on PS3 gave me access to it on PSP and Vita. Since Rogue Galaxy was never available as a classic. I don't really care. But Mark of Kri and I think the GTA games were. The fair thing to do is charge an upgrade fee for the value add. Some would bitch but to tell people who bought Mark of Kri on PS3 sorry you need to give me another $15 even though you bought it digitally on PSN. I think the expectation was, if Sony brought it forward to PS4 classic meant it would be compatible on new hardware.

I see a lot of people throwing around VHS, DVD, Bluray nonsense. This isn't the right comparison. The comparison is Steam. If I upgrade to windows 10 I might have some compatibility issues on certain games but I am not locked out of digital content I paid for on the same store because I upgraded to new hardware or OS. Buying things digitally comes with more expectations than physical media does. The expectation is that it moves forward.

The fact that we as consumers let MS and Sony get away with the tons digital games left on the store from last gen siting compatibility issues is ridiculous. The right solution for compatibility issues is PSNow. People should have access to their entire purchased PSN library through that service for no additional charge. Its not an ideal solution but I think its fair.

I feel like I should make one, if not someone else. I put in three hours last night and plan on doing the same today when I get home. Closing in on 50% of the trophies.

I was surprised at how well it held up for me. It always ran butter smooth on PS2 and the controls were always spot-on, but having the dualshock 4 and the various visual improvements just add an extra layer of zen-level perfection for me.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Anyone else kinda mythed by how vague Sony is about this, releasing quietly, no mention of it at PSX.
No nothing really.

Just so you know, Fantavision is coming next week. Though I dunno if this deserves a new thread.
