PlayStation 2 comes to PS4 official trailer

This kinda shoots down my hopes of seeing GTA 3/VC/SA Collection; Ape Escape Collection and Dark Cloud Collection on Vita, since I was hoping for PS4 HD Remasters of the lot but it seems they're going for upscale emulation. Drat.

Pricey, but I'm definitely in for some of these games.

1997 FF7 on PS4 version at $15 is suddenly justified.
I wouldn't be surprised to see $15 become the standard price for emulated ps1 and ps2 games on PS4.

So you can't pop in a ps3 disc? You have to buy whatever they decide to put on the store?

So much for being able to play DoD 1 and 2 on the ps4.

Good thing I still have my ps2 and ps3 plugged in. Hopefully, they get the more obscure games like Yakuza 2, Mana Khemia, .hack, etc.

Great that this is official now.

Waiting patiently for:
  • Valkyrie Profile 2 (Get me ready for Indivisible and Fallen Legion)
  • Gradius V (Yes, I'll buy it again and unlock free play again on PS4)
  • Samurai Showdown Anthology (should be a cake easy port since it is available on PSVita)

Streaming losing myself to weapon grinding in Rogue Galaxy? Yeah, it's a done deal.

Game's should all be $9.99, though. You done fucked up, Sony. Now give me OG Killzone with so I can see the best online mp lobby on consoles again.

welp I ony bought atlus games on ps3 so even if crossbuy would have been the right thing to do, I don't know when those games will come... if they do.

I'll wait for some sales in those tho.

Also where's psx =/

Onimusha 2

Onimusha 3

Onimusha "4"

Given me them all. Hopefully it won't take too long to grow the library.

And Onimusha 5 :)

The extra $5 for some games is such an unneeded little thing, though. Just make them $10, full stop. C'mon.

Edit: Parappa 2 is coming as well soon :O :O :O YESSS
Bring on Gitaroo Man as well, and Adventures of Cookie & Cream.

All of them should render at 1080p, less than that would be a disappointment, like in the star wars games.

As much as I dislike not being able to just insert my already owned game discs into my PS4, I might re-buy Silent Hill 2 and 3, if they get trophy support that is.

Parappa 2 is a great surprise. Hope it isn't murdered by input lag like UmJammer Lammy back on the PS3.

Also XENOSAGA PLEASE

Surprised Super Star Wars is not on there

Super Star Wars isn't a PS2 emulated title, it a full on PS4 port.

Jedi Starfighter, Racer Revenge, Bounty Hunter are PS2 ports.
I'm a little surprised they didn't advertise them but perhaps because they are sort of released already (even if they are exclusive to a PS4 bundle and not the online store).

Hold up.

What about framerate

Is 60fps out of the question? Even a locked 30fps. I will jump in on ps2 gta games instantly if frame rate is also improved.

What a shit service! I never thought Sony would be so behind Microsoft and even Nintendo in terms of value.
My PS1 downloads had better transfer over and be free

In for Dark Cloud! Hopefully they go for some more niche titles, like .hack... I really want .hack.

As for the price... I mean, Nintendo charges $10 for a SNES rom dump, so I'm okay with this.

this is only galvanize people to jailbreak the ps4 to open ps2 emu support wider. do the right thing sony. this is bullshit.

Holy shit those prices are steep as fuck for a bunch of underwhelming PS2 games.

To each there own, but I am more than happy to support Dark Cloud! 15 bucks (US), will be about 22 AUD, and I am so happy to experience it again in 1080P with trophies. Still can't believe it is happening, so excited.

I'm not shocked, but at least they're up-rezzing them and adding trophies (if that's your thing). Playing 480p PS2 games on a 1080p TV would have probably made me just not bother. I've been able to emulate them better on PC for years.

I also wouldn't have bothered with straight PS2 games, but I'm holding them to a higher standard here, a standard that they themselves created. I prefer this over any straight BC solution.

However, Sony has had a consistent and well-received cross-buy program running for years. It was only natural to expect at the very least for PS2 Classics licenses to transfer over.

I'll buy Rogue Galaxy for sure. I own the disc. I'll pretend the disc works, I'll just stick it in the PS4 and then run the game. lol

1080p with tropies? Please hold me. That is one of the few games I just can't emulate worth a damn.
