Is it possible to up our pledge after this ends in some way? I know some KSs in the past allow this via other methods.

Ravidrath mentioned in the thread that it would likely be a manual process, but that it will be possible. There will also be add-ons available presumably.

Honestly I'd rather have VO than an anime intro

This seems to be the general consensus right next to "Trust in Lab Zero, they know what they're doing."

Which I entirely agree with, by the way. (I just hope they could look into switching it like what Admiral Woofington said.)

Awesome. Already at $60 but kind of want the tshirts, but xenoblade came out this week. :p

Then again, I'd rather they have addons so I could get an Ajna statue. :D

Welp, took the plunge and helped fund my first Kickstarter. Only the 30 dollar tier but you know, Christmas is right around the corner. Feels soon good, though.

11 hours to go and pledging halted almost to a stop. I don't think they'll reach 1.9 million at all :(

There's a difference between going 20k an hour and "halting to a stop" LOL. The pace is actually great, just probably not great enough to do 150k in 10ish hours. This is what it feels like to be on the winner's side of the funding goal. Now that the campaign is a success, people are way more willing to part with their cash. If we could have crossed the goal line like a week ago, all the revealed stretch goals so far would be in the bag.

On a side note, this is like example #351532352 of the Japanese being hard to work with. IF the studio actually is like Trigger (or someone popular with Western anime fans) and Ravidrath could actually say so, the pace of pledges would be much faster.

Unfortunately I feel like Psychonauts 2 has stolen the spotlight.
Pretty incredible how a super high profile campaign can make people back on a new and relatively unproven crowdfunding platform without a second thought but people are still hesitant of Indiegogo despite it having several successful games

I certainly wasn't expecting such a surprising variable to rear its head last night. In any case, I'm backing both games and wish the best for them both!

Countdown stream delayed a bit to get everyone here and set up - should be starting up in about 15 minutes.

Man, still at work for 45 min. Work, please end quickly!

I believe Ravidrath said the bonus T-Shirt is only available for the remainder of this campaign (as are other limited/bonus items).

Wow.

This made it. I'm seriously impressed for an IGG project for one, which has less PR clout than KickStarter and also a being a spiritual successor to a not too common JRPG.

Congrats to the team.

They are showing off the winners for the fanart & cosplay contests now. Pasteldot's Razmi got robbed :(

For the big, super successful campaigns (over $1 million) you really need these factors:
-Spite/"Fight against the MAN!" narrative ("Fuck Konami", "Fuck Capcom","Fuck Rare/Microsoft")
-Be the direct sequel to a fan favorite
-Be the spiritual successor of a fan favorite but strongly related to that series (i.e. it would be literally another entry in that series with the same or similar staff were it not for politics with the IP holders)
-Big exposure timed at the time of the start of the campaign (Expo, Large Gaming Event, High Profile Stream, etc.)

Running a strong campaign helps (Bloodstained) but isn't required (Shenmue 3). One or more of these all apply to Shenmue 3, Bloodstained, Yooka-Laylee, MN9, Psychonauts 2, etc. but none of them apply to Indivisible.

That animation is seriously impressive.

Lot of truth in that, but hey, indivisible still succeeded despite having none of those advantages. Hopefully they'll build an even bigger following to take advantage of if they choose to crowdfund another project after indivisible is finished.

Certainly looking forward to the point (if it's even possible) for people to respect New IPs as being more interesting than endless sequels/rehashes. I've become more leery of crowdfunding and it feels like a lot of it is a result of large corporate entities turning things like Kickstarter into tastemaking entities. Seems like a misappropriation or at the very least, "missing the point."

Yeah. Still, it's a good thing it was revealed after Indivisible was funded.

And it's crazy how fast they gathered funds. Barely a day passed and it already passed the amount Indivisible needed.

Sequals and spiritual successors are easier sales. That's kinda unfortunate I admit, since it works against creativity and innovation, but it is what it is.

Hmm, so $60 gets you a physical version (with potentially a nicer cover and an art-manual) +digital version, and $30 will be the price for physical retail version or digital version at launch?

Yeah, the digital game will be $30 at launch.

And we're aiming for a steelbook and printed plastic slipcover for the backer-exclusive physical version.

Okay, re-donated 60USD and sent an e-mail with the screenshot and a picture of what I'd like doodled. Keeping fingers crossed.

Congratulations to everyone at LabZero. This is certainly the most feel-good story for me this year. You guys deserve every dollar.

BTW, regarding the anime opening stretch goal...

We had to do it early in the stretch goal order so we can lock the scheduling down with the studio.

Their schedules fill up pretty far in advance, so we had to prioritize it.

Then, I shall not complain. That's a reasonable reason. I was just excited for what was coming after.

I figured it was something like that. Can take years for an animated show to go from conception to airing after all, so it stood to reason that animation in general can take a long while to work out.

Man, I'm watching the stream and I'm amazed that after Skullgirls our flagship ladies (aside from Ajna obviously) are now gals like Razmi and Sangmu. They're nearly burka tier as far as skin exposure goes, but people just love them regardless. That's some wicked design right there.

Can't wait for 2018 so we can play this game.

I really can't wait to see the fanart the coming years.

Though there is a serious lack of Tatanka and Kogi fanart. D:

Understandable.

Essentially it worked like this, I'm guessing: If you want an anime opening, you'd have to book its production early. If you're booking production early, you need to have the funds ready as soon as possible. If you want to have the funds ready as soon as possible, you need to place that stretch goal at the beginning.

Personally I would have preferred foregoing an animated opening entirely and prioritized actual gameplay content & voice acting, but I know not everyone would have wanted that.

Ah well... At least the game itself will still be good.

Yeah same. A fully voiced cast plus multiple endings and a hardcore dungeon, for me, are more valuable than more music and an animated opening. However, I don't dislike having those two things, so I don't mind too much.

It would would be neat if between the multiple endings and full voice acting tier there could be a special ending where all the incarnations gradually joined their voices together in a Best Ending song. Might fit the theme of such a diverse cast working together well.
I guess that comes to mind after seeing and feeling quite touched by the recent FFXI Rhapsodies ending - based on a few Skullgirls nods, at some point somebody on the team played XI, although I wonder if it still applies.

I think Mike Z is the only major team member not there? I guess he's busy?

Favorite Guest Characters they would like but don't already have:
-Ravidrath: Miriam from Bloodstained
-EU03: Goku
-Kinuko: Sephiroth

:p
I want the night to end at 1.8 million dollars so we can officially say that we gave it 120%.

So you want the campaign to end in 2-3 hours instead of in 7-8 hours?

Got a feeling most of these doodle requests are going to involve Sangmu tonight

Yeah she catapulted to premium waifu status real fast. I'm kind of surprised honestly.
