Fan Favorite PS2 Games Launching on PS4 Tomorrow

All this balking at prices is the reason we can't have old games on modern consoles. These games have to be profitable. Do you think these companies are just going to provide them cheap out of the goodness of their heart?
 
Lol now you can complain. As if buying the ps2 classics again wasn't bad enough, they've gone ahead and increased the price. Dissapointed, doesn't begin to describe how let down I feel

There is a difference. Quite a few HD collections (say Uncharted Collection or Last of Us) had a lot of work done on them. I can see paying money for that. This is literally same shit running on a newer emulator with more powerful hardware.

Except theyre not. They pretty much have the same treatment, res boost, performance boost, trophies, added AA etc.. So I see no difference between something like God of war 2 HD and rogue galaxy for ps4
 
I like a lot of those games, but the only one that I'm interested in spending money on and going back to collect the trophies is Dark Cloud. I beat that game and then gave it to a friend 14 years ago (which I regret now) and I have not seen a lick of it since. Whereas most of those games on that list are fresh on my mind. Dark Cloud is going to be a nostalgia trip for me.

I would buy a lot of games if the price was $10 and I'm only buying 1 or 2 at $15. I'm sure I'm not alone in that either. These are really low risk for the companies as well, it's emulation.
 
Why are some games $10 and others $15.
Was psx today? I'd like to know if they plan on doing anything about those that bought the PS3 versions of said games.

Now give me The Bouncer at 1080P/60 fps.

Well technically your not buying the same classic again. You're paying for a better version of the classic you bought. It's like buying for an album on iTunes only to find there was a remastered version with new songs released later for a higher price.
 
Mhh, prices are kinda salty for such old digital games. Something like 9.99-10.99 could've been more in the line of impulse buys.

I've personally invested 0€ on PS2 Classics so far, so I'm not rebuying any games for PS4 and thus I'm not overly mad at Sony (I will be if they ever add PS1 b/c and my digital PS1 collection isn't available). Still shitty for those who have larger PS2 collections for PS3.

It'll probably be like PS1 Classics. So a lot of the classics will be available, but there will probably be a lot of games that won't be released due to the publishers/developers not existing anymore or licensing disputes or publishers just not bothering with some games for one reason or the other.
 
While I think there should be a discount for those who have the same ps2 classics on ps3, at the end of the day those games did not have trophies and was up res'd

The ps2 disc versions, didnt have trophies and was up res'd.

I am not ashamed to say that I will be buying Rogue Galaxy, and Dark Cloud 2 when it comes out.

I havent touched those games for years, and I love me some trophies.

I dont think Sony has taken a dump on me. And this announcement hasnt made me not want to buy their next console.

Yeah, that's true. I wish there was an option to play the old ps2 classics(without improvements), though that might make the store a little confusing for some. I just hope, that moving forward, they do what Apple does with the App Store.

First ps2 game I ever played. I remember being so impressed by it. It will always hold a special place.
I'd love to see less known games to be added too, but those might prove hard to acquire.

I think 3rd party games are $15 & Sony games are $10. 3rd party want their cut.
 
I can't believe upscaled PS2 rereleases are what it took to make me interested in buying a PS4 down the road. Dark Cloud makes me really happy, and I've always wanted to try Rogue Galaxy. Up until now, all that really interested me was the new Ratchet and Clank, haha. I can't wait to see what else they'll bring over.

...if these rereleases will have improved FPS for PS2 games that struggled to run is the big question. Any confirmation on this?

Yeah, I don't feel like I got taken to the cleaners either. Perhaps it's because I have like 5 ps2 classics that I got for less than $10(deals), either way, if I were given the oportunity to buy all the ps2 games I currently own on disc, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Basically if it follows these games, anything locked will still be a locked 30 or 60 but if there not they will/can be a better frame rate (60 FPS)
 
Last I checked a used copy of KH1 on PS2 still costs like $20. $15 for re-rendered PS2 games with trophies seems like a fair price if that's the high end.
 
So what the he'll is the difference between upressed and uprendered? I'm assuming uprendered doesn't just stretch the image but actually increases the size of everything that is rendered?

It's fucking sad that we used to get this service for free and now it's apparently nothing but a pipedream. I mean aren't MS doing the same thing alreadt for 360 games but it's free if you have the disc?

AFAIK, upressed is when the image is stretched to fill the entire screen, but it's still being rendered at its native resolution. You see that in 720p games that are being played on a 1080p TV, for example.

Uprended is when the game is being rendered in a higher resolution. You see that in the remasters of old games.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.
