I hope that Racer Revenge and Bounty Hunter (and Jedi Starfighter) pop up in the very near future. Limiting it to the bundle (for now) makes me sad.

It's tiny and over a third of it is the GTA 3 trilogy which is out on everything. Was hoping for more PS2 exclusives and at least those fucking star wars games which they've done the work on.

$45 for the 3 GTAs is beyond ridiculous
This is just the start though I was surprise hey have these already to be honest.

I guess we'll end up with the same bollocks of Japan/US getting most games and EU getting sod all in comparison. If PS1/2 classics anything to go by.

I think the only reasonable demand here is, if you owned the game digitally then you should be offer the PS4 version at a discount. There is work to be done with improved performance and up res with trophy support.

This sticks out more because Microsoft is offering free and Nintendo discounts. If Sony does not apply the discount idea the stop the steam of goodwill they rebuilt with gamers.

Their competition released backwards compatibility for. Free. Sony is dominating the console market. And riding their high "4thegamers" high horse throughout this generation. They could AT LEAST allow people to play their digitally bought ps2 games at their original framerate and resolution for free on their ps4.

But guess what? Then people would realize what a bad deal paying $15 bucks for games that came out almost 15 years ago simply at a higher (and not even full 1080p) resolution really is. And it would cut into their profit. So you know what? Yeah fuck whoever decided to do it this way. They literally saw their competition do it the right way. And I doubt it was cheap for Microsoft to do. Hell it probably cost more as the 360 games are more demanding that ps2 games

$15 for the enhancements is too high, but $10 for the PS2 classics with no improvements was acceptable?

Yo, yeah right on. I was surprised at the lack of PS2 remaster for PS3. Can you imagine how Shadow of Rome would look, if it was remade with Ryse's Crytek engine?

Shadow of Rome 2/Remake is the gladiator game we deserve, but not the one the industry will make right now.

And if you’re attending PlayStation Experience in San Francisco this weekend, you’ll be able to play these PS2 games on PS4 at the show floor:
Dark Cloud
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
PaRappa the Rapper 2 (coming soon)
Rogue Galaxy
The King of Fighters 2000 (coming soon)
The Mark of Kri
War of the Monsters

u wot mate
I mean KoF 2000 isn't that bad, it's ranks among the top 10 KoF games, but that is one hell of a random PS2 game to feature lol. Dunno if this is a game I'd shell $15 for though :X
Gimme NGBC or KoF XI instead

I'm curious, why exactly is $15 "too much" for PS2 games?

I mean you go on ebay and you see many of these are $20 used with $10 shipping, ect. Hell if Dark Cloud 2 happens and is priced the same that's $15 instead of almost $80. I don't get it.

A lot of us folks have already purchased these games. Often multiple times. That's what makes the price really annoying.

I just don't like how Sony have screwed over fans who invested in PSN last gen. So literally all the games you bought digitally on their previous platform are fucking stuck there. How did they fuck that up? The only thing that carry's over to the PS4 is your PSN ID. What's the point if we have to deal with this? It's a huge slap in the face.

Just hold on to your PS3.

This is what I don't get through all of this to be honest.

For example when journey came out on the ps4 they allowed anyone who who owned it on the PS3 to have it on the PS4 for free without having to repurchase.

So why not the same thing here if people have the licences for the games coming to BC in their library?

I don't mind re-buying a few if it means a better version of the game because I already have a PS2, PS3, and PC if I wanted otherwise, but at $15.... maybe $20 CAD, that's pretty steep. I'd impulse buy a lot of games at $10 but if it ends up being $15 or even CAD$20 that's gonna give me a lot of pause and probably end up spending less lol

If they're up-resing the games to 1080p, is that a good indicator of elimination of screen tearing? Don't want to alarm anybody about Rogue Galaxy, but the game had it. Showed up often on the jungle planet.

Not interested in the current selection of games. The prices are a bit steep, will probably wait for a sale on future titles I could be interested in.

It's still a nice thing. I don't think I missed a lot of great PS2 games though, maybe a few JRPGs that were released only in NA.

It's nickle and diming on their part. How the fuck do not have this down after establishing PSN already? So basically all that work in building that impressive catalog of games on there store was for fucking nothing. And since all those titles are stuck on their last gen machine, you know that they will discontinue the store at some point. All those years of work and investment for fucking nothing.

I have to say that I am not impressed.

First things first: they should keep the same pricing scheme they did with PS2 classics on PS3. I believe they were all $9.99 tops. I don't know why they're raising the price on games that were previously $9.99.

More importantly, though, is that it doesn't look like they're going to honor cross-buy for previously purchased PS2 classics. I bought Twisted Metal: Black already on PS3, and I'm not feeling the desire to purchase it all over again considering that Nintendo and Microsoft allow users to carry over Wii/Xbox 360 downloads to their newer systems at no extra cost.

I hope I'm wrong about that. I really hope that I'm wrong, and that Sony surprises us and decides to institute cross-buy on PS2 classics.

Horrible knee jerk reaction to XO BC. MS made a great move enticing 360 players with that feature. This is just a half baked mobeybgrabbing opportunity which I won't support and I hope nobody else does either.

Agreed. Microsoft attracted a lot of positive attention with this.

You would think that after Microsoft proudly and loudly boasted "We don't make you pay to play your old games", that Sony's brass would've been on high alert. Nope, they fell right into the trap.

The ironic thing was that this was originally a false strawman argument a few months ago (it was a dumb dig at PS Now rentals)...and then Sony pulls a stunt like this and turns it into a true argument. Absolutely bewildering, I tel you.

Hasn't there been a patent for PS1/PS2 games getting trophies since like 2013? I highly doubt MS has anything to do with this.
This has most likely been in the works long before BC was announced for XBO at E3 this year.

I couldn't give a flying flip if they had been planning this since Lincoln was president. Microsoft changed the narrative a few months ago with their backward compatibility announcement...and Nintendo had been offering BC on Wii U even longer than that. Sony had plenty of time to read the tea leaves and react accordingly.

In short Sony is basically saying f-you to their fans who bought the freaking things once already on PS3 even though they may have had disks (I certainly did that with a crapload of Atlus games). Basically what Sony is doing is making a lot of their fans a lot less likely to purchase digital versions of games. I find their stance very disappointing.

Exactly.

Sony has been very good about this for years, but now they're squandering a lot of the goodwill that they accumulated in recent years. The fact that Sony would now ask people to repurchase their classic games while their two chief competitors allow free transfers makes them look greedy by comparison.

I hope they reconsider this position, and allow downloadable PS2 classics on PS3 to transfer over to PS4 at no extra charge (even if it means losing the ability to earn trophies). That is what is necessary to retain consumer confidence.

Very, very disappointing. Looks like my PS2 is going nowhere.

Also unbelievable they're charging for the same PS Classics on PS4 again, even if you bought them from PSN already.

Sony needs regular ps2 classic support like they had on ps3. Absolutely no reason why it couldn't work on ps4.

As for these "enhanced" versions. They should be discounted for people who already bought it as a "classic". $15 is also a little steep for 15 year old games with tiny resolution enhancements.

Sony as a company will die one day, and yes, all of that will go down the drain regardless. That's what a closed ecosystem will get you.

That should have no bearing on what you buy right now. Unless one is so concerned about PS6 not having PS4 BC, it matters little to one's enjoyment in the here and now

I definitely agree they should offer a discount for people who had already bought some classics on PS3. Well, I guess we'll see if Sony reacts to this sentiment.
With that said, I'll be on the lookout for more titles and might get those GTA games, as I never played them.

Sucks that there isn't an upgrade price, licensing and all, but they really shouldn't be ignoring people's previously PSN bought PS2 classics (let alone playing old discs). Still, as I didn't have that many PS2 classics, and more importantly never even had a PS2, I can overlook these problems and become really excited to play enhanced versions of some of the best 6th gen games I never had access to (had a GameCube and my brother had an Xbox, go figure).

Rogue Galaxy in particular caught my interest, probably because I may have seen it mentioned in a "hidden PS2 gems" list here. However, I don't think it has ever been re-released before, so them launching PS2 games on PS4 with this game is a pleasant surprise. Any people with first-hand experience able to verify that the game is as good as I've heard.

Three other games I hope they bring over, even if it is somewhat unlikely because they'd need to fund a localizations, are Tales of Destiny 1 (Director's Cut), 2, and Tales of Rebirth. These games all seem like they are well liked by most people who have played them, and since I like "Tales of", I thought it'd be cool if we could revisit some classics in the series. Alas, it is probably somewhat unlikely for it to get a localized release outside of Japan, but maybe they could still get digital releases on the Japanese PSN?

Dark Cloud 2 and Dragon Quest VIII are also pretty good, right? FF12 and Valkyrie Profile 2 are other interests, theres way more I'm sure, but that's all that's popping up in my head right now.

If you bought it, it should be yours. As that game is tied to your account.

So because Sony will one day close its doors, that should in some way excuse/alleviate the utterly dogshit practices they are displaying in the now? What's more, the tech is already there. There is no excuse at all. We criticize Nintendo for being behind the times in many areas, but Sony, the top dog right now, should be held to a higher standard. How they haven't caught up to Valve, Apple, and Google at this point is fucking unthinkable. We're going into 2016, but they are stuck in 2006.

I know. You mean you should also be able to play them free of charge on PS4? I guess I agree to some extent, since Sony has been pretty friendly with the cross-buy in the past few years. As I said, I'll see if they react to this, but it's not really too much of a problem for me to be honest.

Not being able to use PS2 discs doesn't bother me... But not being able to carry over the PS2 Classics I've paid for is RIDICULOUS... And Sony just refuses to price old games right... I just don't get it... As many others have said, NO PS2 game should be more than $10...Period.

But I will say that War of the Monsters being on the list is a great thing. Criminally underrated game and I'm STILL waiting on a sequel... I recommend fully to those who've never played it.

Fuck. I am going to spend $45 on all the GTA's, no question. I watched the video and was like "Man I am not really in to all these games" then I saw the GTA tiles at the end. In my fuckin veins, please.

...and I probably won't even actually play through them.
