PSX: King of Fighters 14 Trailer - "PS4 Console Exclusive"

Kyo's close standing HP is 2 hits now.

Doesn't look like they are just reusing the 3D models from XII/XIII as the base, Kyo's walk animation is new.

50 characters is great news. Don't really see the problem with the graphics - looks like it plays just the same as KOF always has.

Graphics still don't look the best but 50 characters is pretty impressive when they're starting from scratch.

I'd rather have 16 well designed characters.

That is KoF we are talking about.

I am pleasantly surprised. The game looks good (for a 3d KoF) so far, well good enough that I would consider buying. The gameplay looks pure KoF old school so I would love of was truly the case.

Were Mai and Athena confirmed?

Game definitely needs work graphically, but pretty sure gameplay will still be stellar like KoF13. Might pick this up when it comes out, but will have to see closer to release.

youmust NOT have played any kof :)
sure there are some fan favourite characters, but out of the whole roster, there are REALLY few characters that you would never see in the arcade...
snk built a solid and charming roster at all level, though clearly favouring some insane (cheap) character a bit in some iteration, but it always happens..

Some guys I know at PSX are saying that it feels alright, but still a bit too floaty when it comes to the air games.

Hopefully they patch that up. Game looks like it's slowly but surely getting there.

Easily the best the game has looked yet.

In a KoF game? No way, KoF's roster is waaaaaay too large with only that much characters. I mean if it's for any other SNK non-team fighting game that's a reboot or something then probably.

And the sad thing is, even with a roster of 50, they're still going to miss a number of fan faves, if that leaked roster holds up.

But the good news is, if this is a sign that they're getting things back to a MVS-level of efficiency when it comes to making and releasing games, then hopefully we won't have to wait but so long for the likes of Yamazaki, the New Face/Orochi Team, Adel and others to come back.

Kyo's gameplay looks like a combination of his NESTS and XIII versions as we expected, Iori's though seems to be full on classic/flame Iori.

SNK's problem of having too many good characters is a good problem to have :p

We basically got that with XII. It didn't turn out so well.

I mean, you can't really blame SNKP for not trying multiple ways to approach KoF's issues of creation. It's a series that got a lot of it's memorable features (Large movelist and cast + variants, loads of character personality in and out of battle) from the fact that it was a yearly series that had to be fresh, while still being creatable per year.

Basically every game and genre that entered the "HD Era" lost a major amount of charm and features when they updated. Some companies just managed the transition better.

It's not looking perfect, or exactly like any of us have dreamed, but I'm more and more excited about a KoF that potentially brings back a lot of what was lost since SNKP made pixel beauty on a suicidal budget.

A 50 character roster is a hell of a lot of groundwork for SNKP to hopefully start bringing it's series into the modern age, and keeping this one improving, instead of having to constantly make 1-offs each generation, with a need to start over from scratch each time.

It'd be a lot easier to bring THIS game up to "Xrd's new standard" of 2.5D design, than what we had in XIII, y'know?

Looks much better. I hope Tizoc & Vanessa make it in. Strange that there's no pc version planned though since they ported XIII.

I think they will release an arcade/pc version after the console version is out for a while and balanced, same as they did with XIII.

Can someone rehost the KoF 14 footage please? Livestream is being a dick =_=

SNK's problem of having too many good characters is a good problem to have :p

It's a good thing for sequel hooks, certainly. But it definitely is a syndrome of what SAB CA outlined above. In a series like this, where gameplay and fanservice is king, that fact that we're still playing catch up as a result of these missteps in the HD era hurts a bit. Not to mention that guys like Adel haven't been playable in a new release in over ten years.

Still! Hope springs eternal~!

Excellent. looks like the leak was legit after all. Game does look better especially that 1080p video. All they need to do is work on their textures and shading a bit and it should be fine. They even specified in the video that the graphics were a work in progress.

I'm hearing no Blue Mary? That makes me a bit sad. I miss her, she was a blast to play.

Here's hoping the new Athena design isn't blatantly offensive to my eyes like the KoFXII/XIII one was too.

The lack of Mai in these reveals is very disturbing. Hopefully they're just busy working on the physics of that.

Not...really? Mai was a figurehead of XIII. SNKP has shown multiple characters, but has a few playable on show floor. And we've seen Andy before Terry, 2 Ikari's for some reason (I'm fine with this!), Chang before Kim, not a single Psycho Soldier... King just showed up here for a few seconds, and ANGEL showed up for an into / super pose. They haven't even shown a Kyokugen member yet!

Everything's much too random and odd to worry about Mai yet, in a 50 character Roster. Now if they show a clear Women's team, and she's not there... you can prepare to riot. ;)
