More at the link. Left is TV, right is Blu-Ray.

Just watched the latest episode. I like how they make a focus on Krillin being traumatized and all, including the flashback where Freeza killed him.

to people more knowledgeable in DBZ:

I was just rewatching the Gohan vs. Cell fight and something hit me; when Cell blew himself how killing Goku, king kai and co.

#1 how did cell return to his "perfect form" when Gohan basically punched android 18 out of him and had detonated at his 2nd form?

#2 how'd he get to earth so quickly? isn't the afterlife basically in another demension? the only reason goku was able to arrive their was because of his instant transmission technique which I think was the only move cell didn't copy

I agree. That was actually good writing.

Excatly, made a lot of sense for Krillin to be shook.

Yeah, it was nice. Well, not nice for Krillin, but nice for the story.

And then he used The Move™.

The remaining cell remembered his perfect form and he powered up (thanks to his Saiyan DNA), and he picked up the Instant Transmission from Goku.

That was an ugly episode with tons of off model shots, and the next episode doesn't look much better in terms of art.

They kinda wasted Gotenks by defusing the second he arrived to fight and Ginyu is gonna die in the next episode which makes me wonder why bother bringing him back at all.

I was actually starting to like Tagoma.

Vegeta knew that Gohan would have ended up choking and gotten all of them absorbed somehow, he made the right decision.

Gohan's never won an important fight without screwing up or needing help so this was a good call.

Yeah...

It's not like Goku consistently let Frieza get away during their first fight which could've potentially killed all his friends when he returned for revenge on Earth as Mecha Frieza.

It's not like Vegeta allowed Semi-Perfect Cell to complete his transformation so he could have a "proper" fight.

It's not like Goku could've defeated Kid Buu but decided against it so he could let Vegeta have a turn.

Yup. Goku and Vegeta are never this reckless. It's only Gohan when he's 11 years old.

Mystic Gohan was easily the most mature and strongest DBZ warrior. He would've had no problem destroying Kid Buu. But Toriyama has to be Toriyama.

Mystic Gohan won his powers by sitting on his ass for hours.

Real power ups demand sacrifices and / or effort.

It was always going to fail.

Enduring Old Kai's ridiculous dance for hours upon hours while sitting perfectly still is basically a sacrifice.

Goku gave up in the fight against Frieza because he had already destroyed his pride. He was satisfied with how broken Frieza was and was going to leave until Frieza attacked him. And at the end Goku didn't know Frieza was still alive after he "killed him".

And Goku didn't let Vegeta fight Kid Buu cause he wanted to. He had no choice because his energy was almost depleted.

Yet even though all humans were extinct and all of his friends and family were dead, Gohan still played around with Buu instead of killing him immediately. Same mistake he made with Cell.

Mystic Gohan couldn't even catch an earring and got tricked into letting Buu absorb gotenks, at least Vegeta and Goku's screwups are of their own accord.

Goku and Vegeta are assholes who value fighting more than anything, Gohan just chokes.

He didn't play around with Buu though. He went for some quick strikes and then Buu blew himself up to disappear for a while. The anime extended that sequence, which results in him "playing around". Although Super once again referenced filler this week (a female frog running after Ginyu and Bulma recognizing his ability...), so I guess anime scenes are valid for Super, sometimes (Super is ignoring the Freeza in hell scenes which were even used in Kai)...

The dude who does the menu music for the DBZ Blu-Ray releases should have done music for the remaster too. That stuff sounds awesome. Especially the menu track it uses for season 3 - it's amazing. If you have proper 5.1ch audio and the physical copy the bass sounds amazing.

Someone uploaded it to youtube!

Lol, there goes menacing Tagoma, Frieza is not a big fan of his personality change it seems, he just wants to change it back. :P

Gotenks was worthless , but Friezas reaction was priceless.

Edit: Gohan still worthless as always.crying like a little girl

Did you guys really expect much to come out of "oh man I sense a power level, let's go"? I just figured they'd fuck everything up, as was feared. I wanted them to punch and piss off Frieza, making him blow up North City (has he done that yet in Super?)

Gotenks is a kid too powerful for his own good. I like the character, but we shouldn't expect him doing more than fucking things up lol

Watched the RAW. Anyone know what precisely Vegeta and Goku said in that weird space? From what I understood, it seemed like their own ki was being used against them until they got full control and internalized it?

I wonder why he's "Gotenks" and not Gonks?

Or, as I think Bulma suggested, Trunten.

The ending was pretty much
the Saiyan saga all over again, but sadly it doesn't seem like Gohan will get to kick some butt before Goku and Vegeta arrive.
Overall I do enjoy this version way more than the movie.
Frieza's reaction to Gohan and Trunks was great, and I like the idea of him freaking out when seeing Gohan to Super Saiyan.

Yeah. They were unable to move until they had full control over their god ki. I kind of like how it was Vegeta who figured it out.

Saw the episode. Okay I'd have liked to see Gohan actually put up a little bit of a fight. He's still very powerful. He just stood there and took it.

Gotenks bothered me too. What was even the point of including him?

I thought the episode was good.

Obvious it's setting up for Gohan to start training again to be fit to save his loved ones, i'm telling ya'll

One can only hope man. It's the conclusion that any logical person should arrive at but some characters in the show are just written to be idiots and I hate it sometimes.

after how badly he have been embarrassed I can think of no other logical conclusion

Also never liked Gotenks so glad he didn't waste anymore time of this ep

Gonks. lmao. Definitely should have been his name considering how much of a clown he is

Can't be Gonks because Gonk is the name of Goron Link when Nintendo finally makes a Zelda game starring a Goron Link. And that'd be copyright infringement.

That ending was brutal.
Piccolo being awesome as usual.

Much better episode than last week's. Seems the show is best in these arcs when it is doing something original, rather than a lesser version of the same scene from the movie. I hope that the Frieza battle is expanded and improved the same way the Beerus battle was.
