Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

Since there are handful of grapplers so I can't outright claim that I would main specific characters but I want to try to see how I feel with those characters before I decide to main them.

Rainbow Mika actually felt right during beta but anything could changes due to balance updates.

Has anything been said about progress sharing between PS4 and PC yet? I would like to buy both versions, but if I need to unlock characters/etc independently for each platform then I'll only purchase one or the other.

Here's a question, will characters you don't buy still be playable against as NPCs? I.E I assume these 6 dlc characters will appear in each other story modes and maybe the original 16 if there stories get updated throughout the years.
Can I face Ibuki in Arcade mode without buying her? that's what i'm hoping at least, that you are only paying to use the character not gating them off completely
You will have to download the character data, so maybe.

They had already established Bison switched bodies in the Alpha series before they made anything about Bison dying to Akuma canon. Granted it's still pretty stupid, but it was an excuse to keep a character playable, not make a character who had always been dead playable.

What you said isnt a justification. " this stupid thing happened first so its fine" isnt excuse.

no video of fang other than the reveal video? is sf5 not playable in psx or something?
Was hoping to see some more vids of him as well but what they have there is an older build(newer than last beta though I think) with no F.A.N.G playable :(. If anything, Capcom could do a demostration at Capcom Cup.....hopefully.

I sincerely hope that the order of which the dlc characters appear in that poster isn't the order in which they're being released. I really don't want to wait 8 months for Urien post launch.

Does anyone expect a DLC tease/trailer at Capcom Cup?
I don't really expect one. We already have names and silhouettes of the characters, a trailer would either just be redundant or would risk making it look like the characters are done already, you know?

An exhibition with FANG or even some more story stuff could be cool though, assuming the story stuff has FANG.

Perhaps each Season has a story mode

Maybe Bison is the Boss of the initial release
Urien is the boss of Season 1
Akuma is the boss of Season 2

The story for Season 1 is Guile going out to get Urien for brainwashing Charlie. Perhaps Balrog betrays Shadolo for Illuminati and he is a henchman. Juri also maybe is working for Illuminati now. Alex can also have some story which is linked to Illuminati.

Storyline ... Street Fighter ... Bwahahahah! I gave up on the story years ago, it's barely coherent as is. But yeah, who is the boss of this game?

Nah it's more that one of the things was actually written into the storyline in advance and isn't anywhere near as stupid as the other. Bison switching bodies isn't the greatest story line but it's better than some braindead explanation which means that Ryu and Ken are incapable of telling the difference between death and a coma.

If they had come up with something better that that or if it had been something that needed to have been explained to keep a character playable (Wasn't actually the case with Bison, the Akuma thing was as canon as any given ending in the game was) I'd have an easier time accepting it.

You also just contradicted your own initial argument.

If bison gets to come back, because his soul burned with evil. And Gouken can avoid death by having no regrets, gouken can come back dmnit.

He's in the story mode stuff, voice files were leaked from the PC beta.

Heh, yeah, he's not an old man but the important thing about him still stands: I have no interest in playing him and zero to negative hype for him :P

Again though, it's fine. I have Mika to main, Karin to play and Ibuki and Juri down the line. I'm pretty set for SFV unless they add an awesome female newcomer down the line or Ingrid :3

Well that and I think he turned out to be anything but generic. He's arguably the most unique character it the series, but whether or not that's a good or bad thing varies from person to person.

Overall I think the roster turned out pretty well though. The playstyles are represented well, we got some old favorites back, series staples and some cool new takes on old characters. I think the newcomers in this on average are much better than the ones in SF4 series as well. Would have been nice if a couple of characters from 3 had made it in, but DLC is coming.

Sure looks like it.

RIP jiggle.

The bug seems to still be there, it's just affecting both sides instead of one.

In all seriousness I can't believe it took them that long to fix it.

I really do wonder what they're gonna show us at Capcom Cup.
We already got F.A.N.G and I don't think they'd show some DLC gameplay.
I really want a story mode trailer if its substantial but with how quiet they've been about it, I'm seriously doubting its anything that's really worth talking about.
I think that we'll probably just get an exhibition of Mike Ross vs Combofiend like last year with F.A.N.G being played.

In all seriousness I can't believe it took them that long to fix it.

Graphical issues like that are probably low priority for the development team

I think they actually mixed up the names- that hairline's only one one guy.

Depending on the angle Urien's hair could look pretty rounded since they're hiding the rest of the detail. The silhouette is still really hard to read as Urien and they've definitely changed his looks (at the very least his outfit), but unless Balrog is going to be revealed without boxing gloves I don't think that's him.

I'm pretty sure Urien is just wearing his suit in the pic.

I think he meant that the first picture had Balrog's hair

Man, $30 season pass. :o

Am I day dreaming or I read somewhere updates would be free on this game?

I know I'll pay up just fine, heck I bought SFIV multiple times, but really curious where I had this idea Capcom said updates to this game would be free.

You can unlock all of the characters with Fight Money that you earn from playing the game. The Season Pass just allows you to unlock the characters immediately upon their release. It's completely optional.

The updates are free. Regarding the characters, you can get them with real money or with the in-game currency.

You can unlock the new characters in game or pay for them. It's set up similarly to League of Legends if you've ever played that.

The idea is that the updates will not cost anything to download - all the balance adjustments and characters and stuff just get added as they plug away. This is what haunts posted about it on the blog the other day:

In-Game Currency

Capcom has a long term strategy to support SFV with new content over time, and the in-game currency allows everyone to choose how they get it. To recap, there are two types:

Fight Money: Can only be obtained by playing the game. Can be used to earn new content for free.
Zenny: Can be purchased with real money, and used to access new content immediately.

So when it comes to post-launch gameplay content, everyone has two choices:

Accumulate Fight Money through gameplay, and use it to earn gameplay related content, such as new characters, for free.
Purchase Zenny with real money, in order to gain access to the content immediately.

100 Zenny essentially equals $1. However, Zenny will be sold in several denominations, giving everyone choice and even bonus amounts depending on how much is purchased! Some of the options are listed below:

100 Zenny = Purchase for $0.99 / €0.99 / £0.79
550 Zenny = Purchase for $4.99/€4.99/£3.99 (receive a 50 Zenny bonus)
1200 Zenny = Purchase for $9.99/€9.99/£7.99 (receive a 200 Zenny bonus)
4000 Zenny = Purchase for $29.99/ €29.99/£24.99 (receive a 1000 Zenny bonus)

Street Fighter V provides everyone with choices and options that never existed before, ensuring that the game has a healthy lifespan for years to come, with new content always on the horizon for fans to enjoy.

So the Season Pass is basically a way to get the first slate of post-release content in a bundle now instead of individually as it releases.

No, it's to get it instantaneously piece-wise as it releases. You still have to wait months for the last character because the last character won't be even close to finished when the first character is released. You just don't have to grind for fight money.

Or maybe that's what you were saying? You just have those other characters preordered as a bundle?

Yeah, I don't mean you'll actually receive it all right away, just that you can buy it all now as a bundle instead of waiting to buy it as it actually releases. It's going to be more expensive a la carte if you are looking to buy it with real money.

Bison swapping bodies is pretty typical.
It being common doesn't make it less dumb. By the way I like dumb fighting game plots, but its still dumb.

Ok so like in order, we are talking about a move that invovles akuma, taking your soul dragging you down to hell having demons attack your soul, and your sins. And the only way Gen Survived was because he had no regrets. You can't humor the idea that a move that involves all that, put someone in some type of spiritual coma.

And I didn't contridict myself, because my point was. You saying that its ok that bison gets to do it and gouken doesn't, I feel is wrong. I feel if bison gets to literally leave his mortal coil, to survive as a soul made out of Violet evil. Gouken can be put in a spiritual coma.

Apparently Birdie's job got updated. From "Ex Shadaloo Member" to "Kanzuki family freeloader" lol.

Oooooooh

the ship is real. called it, Karin is his sugar mama.

Unlocking characters won't be easy, some folks are in for a rude awakening. I have a feeling some think playing a few times each week will guarantee them a unlock. The amount of grind of hours will be insane. If you thought unlocking the Karin estate was bad.. Oh boy lol

Yeah, I think it won't be quick.

I was hoping for no more than $5 a character. I'd have no problem paying that much even if they were only for sale. I want to get them all, so that season pass seems like a good deal to me for what amounts to $5 a character plus extra costumes. That way I don't have to worry about any grinding and can play how I like, and just use fight money for other stuff or let it build up for season 2.

Plus, I expect another spend $100 get $15 back in Feb, so if I wait til release to buy the game and season pass digitally, it's totally worth buying the pack. It started for the week starting Feb 17 this year, so if it happens again, that might not start until the day of release, so I might miss out on playing immediately at launch, but it would be worth it.

If I can unlock 1 stage in 2 days of playing... I don't think it will be a big issue unlocking 1 character in 2 months of playing.

I cant say I would bother with the season pass. I thought they said additional characters would be free for people playing the game? Not too crazy about those characters so I think I will be good for a while. I think the new character is cool due to how ridiculous looking and different he is.
