Your post made me smile, hehe. I can very much understand how you feel, Ishida. I didn't play VII until a month or so after Crisis Core released in North America, but well, VII really opened my eyes on how emotionally gripping video games can be.
Like you, I believed Verendus, but well, I didn't think we'd see any sign of a VII related project (whether it'd be a remake or a spinoff) until VII's 20th anniversary at earliest. But boy, the morning of Sony Conference with the VII Remake rumors going around, I felt like I was on Cloud 9.
The conversation you and your brother had is very similar to one I had with mine. He played VII when it was originally released and considers it to be his favorite game of all time. Though, my brother does not keep up with gaming related news (and rumors), so he was rather skeptical about a VII Remake happening since such rumors go around every year. But, when the VII Remake was officially shown, my brother and I were gushing so much, haha. It was like a dream come true. I mean, we still cannot believe that it's actually happening. I actually cried a little yesterday when I saw the recent VII Remake gameplay footage. It's real and it looks like everything I imagined it to be.
Haha, I apologize about the long response. I just love how much depth and passion you put into your writing. It's inspiring, really.
