Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

No story trailer at PSX has me doubting story mode sadly :( , I think its mostly going to be just like the tutorial mode.

If theres anything that would get casuals interest with a trailer it would be that. PSX was the last casual centric event thats going to have SFV related content. The rest are all mostly going to be DLC reveal trailers at Capcom Cup events.

It's the Japan Hot! Edition. Kind of not worth buying unless you have a Japan account as I'm assuming the DLC will be locked to that specific region.

The impression I got from Ono during the PSX panel with Harada and Seth Killian was that story mode is going to be a continuous thing that's going to be adding on to through updates... my hopes aren't very high.

I doubt Ken, Chun, and Cammy will take down Bison. It's gonna be Ryu all day.

Or Bison gets hurt enough and is all like JUST KIDDING, calling Nec and fusing with him.Or Nec just eats his ass and powers up.

Ryu's storyline has like nothing to do with Bison. Ryu's biggest villain is himself. Him and Akuma eventually stop caring about each other by SF3 and Ryu's rivalry with Sagat becomes a friendly one after Sagat left Shadaloo in Alpha 2. Bison is the villain to Guile, Chun, Nash, Cammy, Rose, etc...

edit: but then again, this did happen in SF2 and caused Bison to have to go get a different body again. maybe Akuma will kill Bison's soul for real this time, and not just destroy a body.

If that's the case more still images, I mean it's the most economic and fastest way to put out story. Personally I'm okay with it.

I really hope they make Bison almost unbeatable by Chun, Cammy ect. in the story but then Urien comes along later on and fucking destroys Bison easily. It makes Urien look even more badass by having the Vice-President of the Illuminati be able to take down the main threat of Street Fighter since the early 90s (barring SF3 obvs.) and it makes the Illuminati look unstoppable too. Imagine having no idea who Urien is and seeing him kill Bison only to find out that he's not even the leader of the Illuminati.

Speaking of Sean, what makes you think he wouldn't get any sort of changes to his moveset?

Edit: Then we have V-Trigger which would differentiate a character more.

By unlocking them with fight money.

Pretty sure costumes are zenny only, so you have to buy them with real money.

It is her top that needs to be changed; mainly the impossible straps. Basically, less would be more with her design.

No one has outright stated that, but I would put zenny on it. They have already stated that they are using the MOBA model, which is a quasi-confirmation in my mind. We may get lucky and they may occasionally release a costume for sale with fight money... who knows?

If true, that blows.

I'm going to buy them regardless, so no issue for me.

Yeah I'll end up purchasing them. Guess I'll get whichever the pre order bonus is for PSN and go from there.

Capcom has said a few times now that some costumes you can buy with Fight Money and others will only be able to buy with Zenny.

Whether Ryu wants it or not, Bison is actively searching for him. He was the main antagonist in SFA3, where Bison captured and had Ryu on mind control. After some talking to by Ken, Sagat, and Sakura, he broke free and struck Bison with a Shin Shoryuken.

Ryu basically wants to find worthy opponents, and hates evil. And since Bison is both of those, Ryu doesn't mind fighting him.

Besides, Guile, Chun, Nash, Cammy, Rose, and co. aren't strong enough to take on Bison. Even Rose admits this and tries to goad Poster Boy into fighting Bison in order to calm himself.

At any rate, Ryu will probably kick his ass and he'll fuse with Nec, and one or the other will take over. Nash might finish the job tho.

We wouldn't even see who the leader is anyway since Gill probably won't be playable.

Everything about the system they've described sounds very, very close to what Blizzard is doing with HOTS's monetization scheme. (Daily quests, all characters earnable, some gold-only costumes, etc.)

I tend to agree. Since PSX has come and gone and pretty much nothing regarding the singleplayer has been shown off to date, I'm not expecting them to have much to show by the time the game releases, either.

I mean, SF4 didn't have jack shit when it came to story modes either, but its early trailer still gave the impression that it was a possibility. SF5 doesn't even have that yet.

I don't have a lot of hope for story mode now that they're helping with that live action series.

I don't care personally, but it matters to some people and the general audience, so hopefully it's something mildly interesting at least.

I guarantee that the "costumes" you can buy with Fight Money end up being palette swaps

Yeah, most likely colors like KI. Those premium costumes in the season pass are 400 zenny ($4). That's high even by Capcom standards. SFxT were only $1 a la carte, right?

Yeah, my hype for a story mode has deflated quite a bit by this point.

But this doesn't sound too bad. Still better than IV.

When are they going to reveal more stages for Street Fighter V? They revealed the new airfield stage and where is the airfield stage in Street Fighter V located in? I want more stages to get revealed in Street Fighter V of Mexico, Spain, Paris, Hong Kong, Muac, Dubai desert, Rainbow Mika's wrestling ring, France, Italy, cave, jungle, Mad Gear, Ryu's stage, Australia, Canada, Britain, Thailand, beach stage, etc.

I'm fully with you on this friend. More stages would rule! I think at this point we should count ourselves lucky if we're getting more than 10 stages in total though, as not many people seem to care too much about them (Capcom included, mostly due to development costs/time I assume). A real shame if you ask me since stages can contribute so much to establishing the characters and the world in which all the fighting takes place.

To try and answer your question: That new airport stage might be in Dubai (or similar desert-based modern city) if it also counts as Rashid's stage (going by that teaser image from weeks ago again, where he stands in front of air control tower at night). I might be wrong about this though, so we'll have to wait till we learn the name of the stage to hopefully know more.

This would please me greatly. Urien should be the true last boss at some point, if only to complete the pattern from SFI to II and V to III where an initial final boss becomes the second in command for the uber final boss (i.e. Sagat to Bison, and Urien to Gill).

I do however wonder how S.I.N. and Seth will factor into the story, if at all. Was it/he completely destroyed at the end of IV, or might Juri still be working for Seth while S.I.N. is being rebuilt in the shadows? Oh, and what was the connection between S.I.N. and Shadaloo again? I think I never saw all the endings in IV actually, so I don't know much about S.I.N.'s final developments.

What an awful way to degrade the iconic big bad character just to make Urien look badass.

If anyone's taking out Bison, it should be Nash, Guile or Chun.

IIRC Seth dies in pretty much every SF4 ending so SIN should be donezo unless Juri took over

And I don't think Urien is supposed to be stronger than Bison, that would just diminsh how Psycho Power is supposed to be ultra strong and etc. Gill I could see making Bison his bitch like Akuma did, Urien however doesn't compare to his brother and he wasn't even that powerful in SF3 so why change that now for no reason?

What are the benefits to clawless Vega? It seems like Graham immediately goes into that mode at the start of each round.
Different special moves, different normals, hitboxes change too and I think if you're clawless your claw doesn't fall off

Biggest draw is the command grab he gets from that stance

More combo opportunities, mix ups (command grab) and better damage output. Worth it over more range. (though ideally you'd switch)

He goes for Ex Barcelona a lot, which he can combo off of for really nice damage (especially off 1 bar). Would knock them down otherwise if he has the claw.

Not exactly different. They are the same, but have different properties. Hit boxes have less range in clawless, but you can link more normals into specials. Command grab is added in clawless.

To people wondering, this is no Gen.

Doesn't his sHP/TC change? I haven't really fiddled with clawless much.

Can someone answer me if PSX videos like these contain footage of the newest 2 stages as well (i.e. the Shadaloo HQ and airport)? Did the build used there in other words include them already?

Thanks in advance.

Neither of those stages is in the build they had.

Got to play for 3 minutes at PSX event, but...

Ken: Cr. LK, St. LP, St. LK hitconfirm is gone. St LK now whiffs.
Nash. Cr. LK into Stand LP-MP(target Combo) no longer works. MP whiffs. This one hurts Nash pretty hard, as he gets nearly no damage from a low attack anymore.

We will know the changes when the beta hits next week.

This you saw anyone playing Chun Li ? Anything notable in the new build ?

The PSX build is the Sim one, is it not?

From that 16 characters trailer, Bison can cancel MK Scissors into VTrigger and link to Cr.MP. I know that wasn't possible before. Also has Ryu linking st.HK into st.MP again, which I believe was nerfed from the first beta build.

Yeah i think the possibility of a story mode that would attract milions of casuals like MK is very low at this point.

LPN said there's a new build from the PSX one already. I imagine the one at PSX wasn't the latest because F.A.N.G wasn't even playable.

Speaking of story mode.. Is there a confirmed boss character, or does each character get their own boss?

I'm hoping they're being really sneaky and there is a boss character who hasn't been revealed yet...and I'm also hoping that boss isn't as cheap as vanilla SFIV Seth...

The boss character will be controlled by Combofiend. Everytime a player gets to the end of the campaign, Peter Rosas will take up his controller and go at them.

No details about the bosses so far unfortunately. Bison and or necalli are good bets.
I really hope there are secret bosses as well. cough akuma cough

Judging by the opening cinematic the boss is most likely Necalli.

Yeaaaahhhhh... I got that impression too...which I think is kind of lame considering Necalli was revealed so early in the line up...

Would have prefered him to be unveiled last like, "And the big bad for SFV is..."

Still holding out for Urien being an initially unplayable boss that becomes DLC character later... ^_^
