[SPOILERS] Star Wars: The Force Awakens - It's True. All of it.

It really does sound like he used ANH as a template. I hope it has more emotional impact than Old Ben's death. Do Kylo and Han know their relationship with each other?

According to the MSW version of the call sheets, Han has an emotional breakdown on the Falcon en route to Starkiller Base after Maz shows the group a flashback vision of Kylo murdering the Jedi and Finn consoles him. After they crash the Falcon in the snow and head off to the base, Kylo finds it and "has a moment" on Falcon. There's also the rumored "You're not my father!" when he slays Han.

If this is all true, what exactly is the point of Finn then?

Finn has knowledge of the Starkiller base that he spills to the Resistance.

He's also learns to fight for something he believes in.

He also helps save Rey and assists in fighting Kylo.

He also serves as the audience surrogate.

Snoke looks awesome. He looks vulnerable and a bit scared. He has been through something. I am wondering what Alien he is. I think Starkiller base is moving into the outer rim from unknown regions of space, and in the book Aftermath an Imperial was talking about going out there to search for some source of Palpatines power. So he might not even be from the Star War galaxy.

Also if Luke was in some sort of Hybernation it would make sense for Rey waiting for her family. Perhaps Luke is her father? Or maybe he took her and hide her so even Solo wouldnt find her. I wonder.

Also GAF is owned by Disney? Well fuck.

So who is Maz, exactly? There were a few pics of her in the artbook, but she was referred to as Maz Barfly.

Maz is a pirate queen (or whatever) who owns a castle on Takodana that has a bar in it. Han has a history with her and she may also be familiar with Luke. Likely a Force user but not likely to be a Jedi since she's 1000 years old and has been running the bar for a century, which was during the time of the PT and OT.

fake edit: HI PABLO. Please let me work for the LSG kthx. Also you gotta make Andi stop interrupting you while you try to drink coffee.

The first thing I expected once they announced Harrison Ford was in this was "they are totally killing Han"

Dont know if those rumours are legit or not but I aint shocked if Solo bites a bullet.

Was his use of the Lightsaber just a means of defense, or could it be something more in the future? Always enjoyed the thought of a stormtrooper hearing the whispers of the force, and changing his destiny to eventually becoming a Jedi and so on.

If Pablo Hidalgo from Lucasfilm aware of the leak from this thread then that means he might be aware of WHO leaked it here..and lead him to Freezasaurus.

His reaction to the attack in the beginning is the awakening that Snoke is really talking about. Maybe.
Or he's just Han 2.0.

That'd be such a waste if they just make him another Han.

Why? He is the audience surrogate, the regular guy who is baffled and amazed by this craziness. That role is very vital to films like this.

Rey is our new Skywalker type, the new last hope and heir to the old Luke/Anakin saber.

Making Rey and Finn effectively the same character would be boring.

I doubt it. If anything, they'd send takedown notices to websites hosting it. But like I've said, there wasn't anything in the book about plot spoilers. No piece called "The Death of Han Solo" or anything like that. Which makes me think that anything that would annoy Disney didn't even make it into the book.

This is most likely true. JJ's been very on top of leaks and spoilers, so I'm sure a book would be no less tidied up.

Still, good job man!!!!

We don't know. They could be playing a long game and eventually make him a Jedi in VIII or IX. His character's gotta have an arc that lasts an entire trilogy.

There's Mr. Conrad!

Also, there's a slight similarity to the old Monkey-eyes version of the Emperor from Empire. Very slight though. But the way the eyes are sunk into the head and the eye-sockets protrude off either end...

What!?

Han is the favourite character for many fans. There's a reason people are really upset that he will die.

If Finn ends up being another Han that is a best case scenario.

Yup. People need to realize Han was very integral to the overall plot of the OT. Finn may not be a force user but he'll definitely be a badass. I can't wait to see what his character evolves into during the course of this OT. From Disenchanted ST to what?

Exactly. I just think many fear after this movie and the revelation of Rey being the Jedi that he'll get relegated to minor screen time in the upcoming films.

I wish people'd stop trying to directly equate OT characters to the new characters. Sure, there's similarities here and there, especially with Rey, but I really doubt JJ and Kasdan sat down and went "Okay, so Rey is Luke, Finn is Han and Poe is Leia." They're their own characters, and I think that's really going to come out once people have seen the whole movie.

Some on reddit just won't let it die lol

Seeing this just makes me so much more happy that he isn't Plagueis. I've never liked his design, would've hated for him to be the new big bad.

What's going to suck shit is if we still don't know if Finn is Force Sensitive at the end of Episode 7 as people are going to be arguing that shit all the way up to Episode 8.

I think we will probably know for sure.

I don't see why they would keep that going.

let's be honest here, although I stopped believing in the plagueis theory the moment kasdan misheard the name as "Darth Vegas" at the convention, snoke could still be a deformed anything. this doesn't need to be a human, we still don't know what Muun look like, canonically.

True that. And it's going to be torture having to wait for confirmation on that shit.

Yeah, and I love Han's character as well. But with a new cast, I'd like it to be a little different rather than just making people fit into previous molds. If I wanted a Han-like character, I'd pick Han. Call me an asshole, but I just like seeing things progress rather than them nestle into the normative roles we're already familiar with. I'm not too worried about it since his background is already unique compared to Han, just hoping as the new saga continues on he'll create his own role rather than just becoming an old one.

I liked the idea upthread that he's Force Sensitive, but not very - but it doesn't matter because he puts in the work to become a Jedi ANYWAY.

I also think that while using the original trio as shorthand makes sense, none of the new characters are going to be one-to-one analogs. They're gonna go different ways and do different things. I think that has to be part of the point, really: They're types in similar roles, but while they make mistakes like their predecessors, they're not gonna go in the same directions Han Luke & Leia did. They have their own way forward.

Well his background imo is definitely interesting so far and I am interested to see where his arc goes. But SW has always been a series that has fit the stereotypical archetypes.

It's why I'm not shocked he'll fill in the "Han" role and Rey the "Luke" role. Of course there characters will have minor differences.

I don't know how anyone could call you an asshole for wanting or enjoying any of that.

There's always going to be speculation about something, though.

Sure.

Considering how much like the OT it is in other ways there's pretty much no way you'll be right about that, but I'd love to be wrong.

Yea I don't know why everyone is already thinking Finn is no force sensitive when we have a whole trilogy to find out. And yes if Rey is the only Jedi to save the Galaxy again, than that already sucks. I always wanted to see a new order to come about headed by Luke not some outlander shit.

Besides we may know the shot list but it does not give us all the dialog or action in between. Hell it never stated that Rey uses the force, only to see Luke. So u never know with either.

JJ stated that this story is about 2 orphans. I'm pretty sure they will be both Jedi. No it won't be boring if there are a lot of Jedi, that's what Star Wars is mainly about imo
