Shouldn't his power increase anyway? He's adding other life forms to his own body, he should have gotten an upgrade in power no matter what. That whole thing is just weird.

It was specifically said to be Dai Kaioshin's "gentle" nature, not just him being good. Buu obviously got stronger by absorbing Gohan and Gotenks, who were good too.
As long as he keeps training to keep up his potential.
If he doesn't even lift, he goes back to being a weakling and needing the super saiyan hack to keep up.
The old kai never said that he was going to keep being super strong no matter what.

For those wanting a descriptions
Final Universe 7 dude is a small red dude with pointy ears wearing a wrestling leotard and has big puffy nipples. Super weird design, but like I said, feels like he has a transformation. Even Goku is confused by his appearance.
The Universe 6 team is a Frost demon that has a head similar to first form Freeza. He looks taller than First Form Freeza and his skin is blue and his jewels are a darker blue. He has white bio armor with shoulder pauldrons like old school saiyan armor. Dude looks rad
We have a tall purple dude with a face kinda like Piccolo. He has an outfit that is kinda hard to describe, the torso reminds me of a batman suit with very defined musculature, but he has kinda like trechcoat style things around his legs, looks kinda similar to Time Patrol Trunks on his lower half in that respect, but open showing his legs in the front. He's also got boots on and it appears his outfit is all black.
We have a big ass Winnie the Pooh dude.
We have a small Saiyan with Ultimate Gohan hair and a very bored look. He doesn't have much in the way of muscles, unlike the Frost Demon and the purple dude. His outfit is very unique, almost roman I guess? uses Vegeta's blue and gold.
And lastly we have the biggest one and it looks like a bad ass version of Robo from Chrono Trigger.

Going to guess that final U7 guy one shots his opponent in the first match for lolz, so we never get an accurate sense of his strength until a later arc.
Bear guy will have some weird powers and/or get owned.
Purple Cooler/Cell dude will be a noble warrior, will either fight Piccolo or Goku.
Vegeta will lose to either the Saiyan or the Frieza race dude (also plot twist: Frieza race dude turns out to be good, Saiyan turns out to be overwhelmingly evil)
Everyone will be surprised for no reason when Saiyan turns Super Saiyan (but maybe their version will look slightly different or have a different name)
U7 will end up losing and it'll turn out that U6 is filled with dangers to get the Super Dragon Balls and wish their planet back to U7, and one or more of the opponents from the tournament will return as a threat (if they beat the U7 fighter) or ally.

(tournament ends, U7 loses, U7 Earth is transported into U6)
Goku: Darn! I guess it doesn't really matter that much. Let's head on home, gang!
(two seconds later)
Goku: Oi! Gohan, what happened!
Gohan: (cough) this universe is filled with many powerful creatures and enemies.... they all attacked Earth at once... even with my training there were too many of them...
Krillin: Oh no! The senzu shrivel up in this universe!
Piccolo: We'll just have to leave Gohan in the hospital.
Universe 7 loses the tourney, then Champa claims the planet for himself.
They go back to earth and only find Gohan in a spaceship and no planet.
Gohan goes: "You guys, you won't believe who invaded and destroyed Earth!"

Gohan has been training in the ROSAT for 10 days straight, going places where no one has gone before. Discovered a new dimension, new species, trained and learned from them, reached a new level (SSJ green, just like Piccolo). When he comes out, he is so strong the Ultimate God who oversees all Universes has a special task for him.

Goku and Vegeta train in the ROSAT, not word on if Piccolo and Buu did to. There is a really awesome shot with Goku and Vegeta in their Blue forms doing the poses they did at the beginning of their fight in the Saiyan arc.

I'm interested to see what the anime adds and changes since the manga is rushing along now.

That limitation was regarding the door. There's no door anymore, so however they're able to get back in, it shouldn't matter how much time they spend in there since they (presumably) have their own way back out now.
Huh, you're right. Guess they'll just break the dimensional barrier like SSJ3 Gotenks to get out, or something.
