Pretty strong endorsement of the movie by Phil Tippett

-for once i enjoy & recommend a Star Wars sequel - reminds me of Frank Sinatra. Beloved, then tepid, then loved again w same great old songs

He was not a fan of the prequels as you might be able to tell from that tweet

I never considered Star Wars to be about just sky walkers, that just makes the universe smaller. I hope Rey is not related to anyone, because it's kinda lame that that only one blood line are the heroes of an entire galaxy.

Haha. Never considered the Star Wars movies to be about the Skywalkers? Can't imagine how you missed that one.

It sounds like there's a solid foundation being built for another trilogy and that's what I was looking for. Can't wait to be taking my kids to these movies for the next forever.

"There are 2 individuals credited with additional voice work on STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and I can't wait for you guys to find out who..." @theinsneider

Frank Oz and Ewan McGregor/James Arnold Taylor would be my guess...maybe even James Earl Jones

Finn takes a crossguard to the shoulder and a slash to the back, but no lost limbs for ya boy. Rey slashes Kylo's face, knocking him down, as the fissure from the exploding Starkiller base separates them.

But no lost hands! I feel jibbed
Every Star Wars movie has decapitations so I'm surprised Finn didn't get his hand chopped off.O_o

There's no Lucasfilm logo fanfare at all.

Snoke looks pretty much exactly like he does in the book.

pretty sure the moment where Rey takes the saber is scored from Star Wars, specifically, the part where Luke sees Owen & Beru's corpse and decides he's going to go with Obi-Wan right there.

Not sure what you'd call them then, because they sure seemed like Sith to me.

I'd call 'em the Knights of Ren, because that's what they're called.

Speaking of which, there's no lightsaber floating through space, and the flashback doesn't go at ALL like anyone thought.

I like Tippett's tweet, too.

Sounds like Rey BEASTS on Ren.

He describes Kylo swinging wildly and manically.

She even out force-pulls him.

Finn..you tried....:(

If that music plays when Rey gets the saber. I'm gonna fucking lose it. I'm going to cry.

What can Luke even teach Rey at this point, chick is OP as shit. Flying the Falcon, beat the Raid dudes, escaped on her own, overpowered Ren both in the interrogation and lightsbaer confrontation. She's already way more capable than Luke in the first two movies! I guess he can teach her how to run around with a jedi master on her back.

What I what to know is how awesome were the lightsaber duels! Hell how does it compare to the other movies for that matter!!!

Yeah all the leaks had people sitting around in a circle as Maz makes them hold hands. Looks like its more of a Dagobah cave job and just Rey.

Literally probably just teaching her. How to control it, mentoring her and warning her of dangers that lie ahead.

How's the score?

And there is nothing before it starts so the first thing you hear is the main theme?

How is Rey?

If they blast the theme you are talking about when Rey picks up the ligthsaber I will lose my shit Thursday night

"Look, Rey, I don't exactly have the greatest record so far in teaching people this Force thing. I'm kinda batting .500 here, so it's gonna be a learning experience for both of us."

How does the stab and slash to the back put Finn into a coma?

Yea it's kinda ridiculous. I guess the early MSW stuff was right in that Rey is near perfect in this and Finn is the sidekick.

Score is... pretty good! I had to leave during the end credits, unfortunately. There's some interesting new themes in here, but nothing grabbed me on first listen particularly strongly. A lot of the basic underscore was very propulsive and brassy.

I will say that the Main Title was a little airier than normal. Upper end stuff (chimes, woodwinds) got more play than previous versions.

Gotta get back to work now.

Jesus I need it to be Thursday so we can start bullshitting in earnest here.

A relative? What?

Couldn't stay away from this thread. One final browse and then I bail for re--

Now I'm tempted to ask so many questions.

Fuck.

Well to be fair...we don't seem to know what Luke's capabilities are. Maybe he's about to open up a whole new aspect of the force we haven't suspected.

We don't know what Snoke can do yet either. If he's the ultimate end-baddie, she will certainly still have a lot to learn before taking him on.

And hell...who knows what happens with Kylo. Maybe he takes this ass-beating and truly purges the light once and for all.

The alien race or the religion?

Religion.

I'd call 'em the Knights of Ren, because that's what they're called.

There are two of them. Master and apprentice. One pulls the strings, the other enforces. They use the Dark Side to get what they want. There is even a direct line about following in Vader's footsteps.

Looks like a Sith, acts like a Sith...

Her history is teased, but not revealed. You'll need to wait for Ep VIII for that.

Boooooooooo

I need to know now.

Two episodes left?

:(

Again I'm waiting until I see the movie. This could be a good set up for him in the next movies. Like I said. They can do just about anything with these characters now after this movie. I think people want character payoffs right now and we still have two movies left of what we know is a trilogy.

I knew Finn was a fakeout the whole time. Everyone got their hopes up, but I knew it wasn't gonna amount to anything.

At this point, I'm just gonna wait and see before truly judging how he comes off.

Early impressions leave me feeling cold, but who knows.

Some redditors were saying that he has his big moment against Phasma. He starts the movie off terrified of her, then bosses her around at the end, or something like that.

No FS stings though.

Only one man will give you what you want. That man is Kevin Feige.

Save us T'Challa....:(
