but your the Lore Expert, breh

I got that tag because I went to gamerside and started a thread like "you guys know you're abusing/misusing this word without really knowing what it means because you think it makes your stupid video game bullshit sound leagues more important than it actually is, right?"

People then threw like 30 dictionaries at me and some shots got fired, and a couple days later some admin affixed me with a smart new tag that people think is referencing the fact I have way too much pop-culture trivia locked up in my hobbity little head.

Awesome response haha. Love that you're not lazy with writing down your detailed arguments.

Speaking of lore, I want to know how the hell Kylo got lightsaber designs that were thousands of years old.

He has an appreciation for the classics, perhaps? :P

Seriously though, I do hope we get at least some info on the Scourge of Malachor in the ST or the extended novels or whatever. It'd be interesting to see how that might differ from the events originally depicted in KOTOR2.

A trip to either Malachor V or Korriban in VIII or IX would be brilliant too.

He's just gonna make Looper again.

Kylo is really Young Han who got sent to kil Old Han

I'd like that more than I liked Creed. I know that for a fact.

I think the scourge is what happened to the planet's surface not the war.

Touching lightsabers causes visions now.

Lord knows what Johnson's gonna write in 8. There's a lotta stuff he could play with, if he wanted.

I can't wait to see what wacky stuff he might come up with for the Skellig Michael planet, provided that world is featured for more than five minutes in VIII. It's such an eerie, otherworldly place in real life, it'd be a waste to not explore it some more.

You're never going to get that because this shit is set in the same universe. It's the same "lore" for everyone (which isn't even LORE, it's just backstory at best, if that).

If what you want is EU-type shit, it's mostly already here, and it's going to keep coming. But I don't see the point in asking for new shit, getting new shit, and going "Nahh" because it's not in the form of a specific trilogy.

standalone films aren't inherently lesser. Trilogies aren't inherently superior.

Lore is fucking overrated and over-cited. And hugely misunderstood anyway.

lol did i push a button...

I think you misunderstand me. I'll make it simple; I don't want to just follow the same old arc pretty much verbatim from the originals with new characters. It would be interesting to change it up and explore things outside the bubble of just the Jedi and the Empire and the rebels. The galaxy is vast.

Plus Good and Evil is nice but i need more then just those aspects life is not just two sides of coin. For example i liked the glimpse into the character of Qui Gon as a jedi and how he was said to operate. Neither truly good nor evil. I love the history and workings of the mandalorians .

The true balance in my mind. Not two extremes.

Plus a number of other area's that the EU was able to explore for better or worse. An when i say lore i mean LORE. Through the movies.

lol did i push a button...

No.

What is this shit people keep trying to do up in here? Like the mere act of writing a response is some sort of emotional weakness. I don't get it. We're talking, dude. You're saying things I disagree with and I'm telling you why I disagree with them because that's how conversations work.

but no its lol u mad huh lol

lol no I'm not mad, guy. I'm just trying to explain myself, just like you're trying to explain yourself. At no point am I sitting here going "this soft-ass chump has turned into a fucking salt-monster lol look at him expressing himself lol" (lol). I'm like "well, okay, I don't know if I agree with that, I see where that's coming from I guess, but this thing still sounds wrong to me."

And I dont think the things you're saying you want are necessarily tied up with trilogies. You can get what you want going forward without 'em. Which is all I was saying in the first place when I asked why you'd ask for something and then excuse the thing that's going to give them to you. You're literally dismissing the exact thing you're asking for simply because it's not in the super-specific container you'd like.

The ability to use the Force and sense the history of objects is actually seen in both the Clone Wars cartoons and other parts of the SW mithos, so I'm glad they didn't limit themselves for this trilogy when it came to expanding what the Force can do.

I mean, Darth Vader is able to deflect laser bolts with his suit/the Force, and nobody thought of showing that ability off in the entire PT or Clone Wars? Weird, so I'm hopeful that Force Awakens is probably the way to make us interested in Star Wars again so that they may play with the universe in exciting new ways that will really blow our minds.

Or, of course, it all goes to shit again.

They did a similar thing in the comic with Leia going into the reactor room on Naboo and feeling the imprinted hatred presence left by Maul.

You can disagree all you want and that's cool, plus i know what a conversation is. Its that you come off as though you're the rule maker.

Regardless i never said i was dismissing what you think i might want. When its not what i want, which is not a standalone SPIN OFF film ala Han solo, Death Star revert.

Meaning what i want is a standalone trilogy and that's all and that's what i meant by "excluding the standalone" maybe i should have said spin off's. Because yes i meant get what i want in a standalone film but its not the same thing. They are two different terms...one is usually short term and the other is usually long term.

Edit: It sounds like you're mad. or Irritated or whatever else. Chill.

It sounds like you're mad.

I'm not, though.

The rest of your post reads kinda convoluted/discombobulated still, but whatever; Basically, just give it a couple years. You're gonna get what you want. Hell, you don't even know whether you don't want this or not yet, because you haven't even seen it.

speaking of which: CHARLESTON CITY PAPER, YOU EMBARGO BREAKING MOTHERFUCKERS, YOU. COME ON DOWWWWNNNN

Sadly, the exhilaration doesn’t last. You know Star Wars: The Force Awakens is in trouble from the opening action scene, which is a standard compound shoot-out that’s notably lacking originality. In fact, all of the action and visual effects are surprisingly mediocre — there’s nothing here that makes us say wow, which is a flaw given how creative the Star Wars movies have historically been...

...There are some notable surprises and good laughs (including genuinely funny moments from Han and BB-8), and some familiar faces pop up to engender a smile. However, far too much is unexplained, and the biggest flaw of all is the ending, which is unsatisfying. Simply put, information is deliberately not revealed that absolutely positively should have been shared, which leaves the viewer feeling puzzled when leaving the theater rather than on an adrenaline high. No one wants to be scratching their head walking out of Star Wars, and we shouldn’t have to wait for Episode VIII in May 2017 for answers that we could easily have now.

The subhead for this review is "Meh the Force be with you"

Of course i haven't seen it yet.

But how do you know that i will get what i want? when what i want is a standalone trilogy that's not tied down by the narratives of the OT and PT.

Plus i never said that i don't want this or that I'm not going to like it or whatever else. Yet something that is not tied to Dark Vader and the Sky walkers. Would be nice.

I guess this guy llikes things to be explained to him George Lucas style. ALL AT ONCE and in you're face.

If you're saying you want a brand new saga space opera in the Star Wars universe with a fresh cast of characters with no relation to the OT and PT, then I sympathize.

TOM LONG OF THE DETROIT NEWS, HIT ME WITH THAT GOOD SHIT

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” returns to the spirit of the original films, leaving the ungainly and unneeded clumsiness of the subsequent prequels far behind. Yes, it helps that the core group of original actors has returned, but it’s more the energy, humor and simplicity of direction that has been recaptured. It’s the overall vibe...

...Actually the party’s pretty much on immediately in this movie and it rarely stops. Director J.J. Abrams, who wrote the script with Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt, hits the ground running and certainly delivers the most breathless “Star Wars” movie yet.

Quibbles? Sure, a few. Finn isn’t really fleshed out, and Poe is re-introduced with a sudden flimsy explanation. And with its basic premise of family dissonance, as well as so many other familiar touchstones, some may think the film too similar to the original.

But let’s face it; the original “Star Wars” was great. There are way worse role models. Simply put, “The Force Awakens” makes you feel good about “Star Wars” again.

Gave that shit a B+

Oh yeah, I loved that, and other hints that the Force is more than just fighting or meditating.

I'm excited to see what Maz Kanata is able to do with the Force that isn't Jedi abilities.

So you don't want Star Wars?

3 whole movies that you have yet to see but you're confident you won't get anything out of them?
I was interested again in Star Wars from the idea if getting a main character that was a Jedi of colour. If that's not happening then I don't really care much more than Avengers or 22 Jump Street.

I don't know what's crazier. Typecasting black males in action movies or people only liking a film if a person of color has a specific role.

Have their been any actual leaks yet, or are we still having a guessing game?

If by leak you mean what the Titanic currently has at the bottom of the ocean then yes, there are a few leaks.

How effectively does Finn use a lightsaber? I was always under the impression that if you weren't force sensitive it would be dangerous to swing them around due to their weightlessness.

I could have totally made that up though.

Even if Finn isn't that fleshed out, I'm still a bit more interested in his character then Rey, just because of his background.
