Sony announces partnership w/ KojiPro, New IP, 1st game "console exclusive to PS4"/PC

I see you have not met hydrophilic attack before.
I have now...

Forgive me for being a cynic, but where does it say it is coming to PC? Often, "console exclusive" sounds like saying "its on a console, and its exclusive" rather than "its exclusive to only one console and it may be on PC". So I take the former definition unless indicated otherwise...

Julien Merceron did quit around Sept hopefully he's still a free agent.

Console exclusive means no wii u, xb1 or NX. PC will get a port.

Sony uses the "Playstation Exclusive" moniker if it's not coming to any other platforms.

For me, the more interesting question is how they transition away from hardware in 8-10 years. That’s obviously the long-term plan and is the aim of Playstation Now (not backwards compatibility, which continues to be the refrain of people who completely do not understand what the service is). I’m kind of excited to see how they transform the business overall; hardware exclusivity is obviously not the future.

The PC is not going away.

They'd be total idiots to move away from the hardware console business. Streaming only Playstation is one of the worst ideas Sony could ever do.

As a PS fan of over 15 years, I'd be off the bus if they have streaming only options.

"Console exclusive" is the standard phrasing in this industry and it is heavily used by Sony when talking about PS4/PC games. Sony call their actual exclusive games "exclusive to PS4", not "console exclusive", because in that scenario it would be redundant.

Plus there is that Q&A that went up by the EU PlayStation Community Manager which explicitly stated it is coming to PC after PS4.

It might not come to PC since there's no PC announcement. However, if it's going to only be on playstation, then why clarify that it's console exclusive rather than just "exclusive".

there was a Q&A posted on Medium. they directly adressed the question with a "The title is planned to become available on PC (after PS4)".

The Q&A was later deleted and i have tried to tell people here about the deletion but.. well you know how GAF is about hype.
seems that either the EU Community Manager in charge of the Q&A slipped. gave wrong information or forgot to use a non-commital answer like Frankie's one when he was asked about Halo 5 on PC. either is really strange that they deleted it.

Not surprised that Sony-GAF is cheering that The One is missing out on this game.

I've noticed an interesting trend with Kojima's games and gaf. Take a look at the following list of all games made by him:

Metal Gear Solid - Playstation exclusive - loved by gaf
Metal Gear Solid 2 - Available on Xbox and PC aside from Playstation - Hated by gaf
Metal Gear Solid 3 - Playstation exclusive - loved by gaf
Metal Gear Solid 4 - Playstation exclusive - won GOTY twice
Metal Gear Solid V - Available on Xbox and PC aside from Playstation - Hated by gaf
New Kojima game - Playstation exclusive - eagerly anticipated by gaf.

I wonder how many so called "fans" really care about this game for its own sake..
ShitpostGAF alive and well I see.

Edit: Sorry, meant BaitGAF

Do we have a decent idea of how Big Kojima productions currently is and how large they're planning to be?

That new logo is unbelievably awesome by the way!

Given Kojima had a logo, a hiring plan, and Sony partnership ready to go the second his split with Konami was officially I'd imagine whatever this project is the pre-production is done or mostly done.

Teaser - E3 2016
Official Reveal - TGS or PSX 2016
Release Window - Holiday 2017 to Q2 2018
Producing the game generally happens after people have been hired. Pull back your expectations, it's going to be a looooooong time before we get details on the game.

The only reason we're getting this announcement is because people care about Kojima. Any other game you wouldn't hear about til 2 years later.

Shinkawa. His artwork is amazing. Amazing concept artist and, well, artist.
His artwork is the front for alot of Kojimas games for a reason.

Hmm....didn't know this. The artwork in MGS games are always top notch.

Congrats Kojima san. I look forward to seeing your next project. I think a lot of us saw this coming. Sony getting Kojima locked in for their games.

I still feel nintendo should have atleast tried to get him to premier his game on NX. I mean they have a lot of money to spend :)

I am kind of surprised Sony is being open about game coming to PC later seeing that MS still counts Tomb Raider as this fall's "exclusive" (even after it was revealed it is coming to PC and PS4).

That's the thing I don't think he's necessary working on a big AAA title with 4 years of development time and a proprietary engine. I also don't think they're completely starting from scratch.
Not starting from scratch gets hairy, and possibly opens up Kojima to a lawsuit from a disgruntled Konami (and after the shit they pulled earlier, I wouldn't put them above it).

As for the scope of the game, I feel like Kojima thrives in AAA production and would want to push that. But that's just my gut.

We don't really have any idea. The best indication may come from that upcoming IGN interview if they ask him about the size of the studio.

I'm glad he's finally out of Konami. I wouldn't normally get too excited about a game that a) I know nothing about and b) is a long, long way off but Kojima is one of my favourite developers so I am confident it's going to be worth the wait.

But it's not a Sony IP or published game. It's not up to them. There's no cross platform play either.

Sony is the platform they are releasing the game out on first, I would have to believe Sony is handling most if not all the publishing/PR for this game. Usually publishing on exclusive's or timed works in that nature.

Microsoft paid money to SE for TR timed exclusive deal, more than likely funded the whole PR campaign when using in the "Best lineup in Xbox history". I would assume that's close to what this deal is. Kojima's game is being made by them, they are funding some of it, Sony is giving them money for the exclusive deal and taking care of all PR/campaign duties. As in stage demo's for E3, TGS, and lead up to it's release with TV AD's.

They also worked out a deal to have a time frame for when PC version would come after PS4. Unless it get's moved up to release same day as Console version, which has and could happen.

How do you know there's no cross play? We haven't even seen the game, or know what it's about. Who knows at this point. I was just saying Sony doesn't have anything clause or legality wise issues having a PC version release for games on their system. Unless it's a timed deal where PC comes out at a later date. They allow PC versions to talk to console versions, which to me shows they don't have issues with developer's looking out for themselves.

a source on twitter has told me that konami still owns the name of kojima production and the logo. He also contacted a KONAMI lawyer, no one has permission to use that name except KONAMI. He also thinks KONAMI is rebranding itself, the ruse is still real.

Its not like its the first time they've done that. They were very upfront about Street Fighter.
