All those years of voicing Joker would do that to you. And the pain of getting in shape for a 2 minute scene![]()
I hear they filmed stuff with Luke on the island during the same shoot for Ep 8.

Guys. GUYS:
I figured it out. I know who Rey is.
She is a Marek https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starkiller
His CGI was kinda bad, I'm half-expecting his look to be a ruse now and when we do finally meet him in Episode VIII or IX he'll be something else entirely.
Not unusual for this series. Luke buying his father's droids is also a big coincidence.
I know exposition is generally a dirty word nowadays, but the film needed a little more time spent on the galaxy building. Just a few lines here or there could have helped lay out each faction as well as set up the villains motivations. There was virtually no reaction to what Starkiller base had just done, or enough worry about what it may represent for the galaxy.
it's really not.
c3po and r2d2 were on their way to kenobi, it's not a coincidence they get bought by the guy who lives near kenobi.
Especially with his giant hologram I'm totally expecting a Wizard of Oz move.
First I looked at him I was like "well he seems to be compensating for something".Especially with his giant hologram I'm totally expecting a Wizard of Oz move.
Snoke and mirrors.I didn't realize Snoke was a hologram in the beginning, thought "man this motherfucker is big"

So how long till Snoke is revealed to be Palpy?
Good thing neither do makeup to hide skin imperfection from showing on their enlarged hologram.i liked the whole Lincoln Memorial vibe
i was super glad that he wasn't a huge-ass monster though, but he simply projected himself to be huge.
The emperor did the same in Empire.
i, personally, wouldn't mind if Chewie's role was dialed back dramatically as well now.
His bromance with Han was great, but with him, R2 _and_ BB8 we now have 3 cute helpful creatures that exchange quips with our protagonists in a language we don't understand.
fake edit: hah, i just remembered that scene with C3PO where Han and General Leia met for the first time in ages and Threepio does his whole cockblocky shpiel![]()

It's gonna be Jar Jar. Rian Johnson's gonna build a fallout shelter and live out the rest of his life surrounded by money.
There is still hope for Darth Jar Jar.
Loved it, really fun movie. I wanna see more come of the Poe and Finn friendship, they're both really great characters.
Really liked Rey. I look forward to seeing her push the series forward.
Kylo Ren... was a lot less intimidating without the mask.

I'm pretty sure that was the point.
Just got back from it. I really liked it.
Either my first or second favourite in the series, will decide if it's better than Empire on repeat viewings.
Han Solo's death destroyed me. It was so obvious it was a death scene paralleling Obi-Wans death in ANH, but then I thought maybe Ben would return to the good side, and then NOPE. Fuck, man.
All the acting was fantastic, and Rey and Finn both nailed it as the new leads.
Funniest movie in the franchise, and nothing felt out of place.
Lightsaber duels weren't flashy, they were swinging at each other with the intention to kill, as they should be. It made sense that Rey could take on Ben because he'd just been shot and was bleeding out.
I'm pretty sure that was the point.
Also, he was shot by a bowcaster, which is far more powerfull than your average blaster, as the movie clearly wanted to show by giving the weapon to Han twice.

I liked Kylo Ren quite a bit actually. I'm glad he's not just another Vader.
Still the only guy to ever kill Liam Nesson on screen so he's cool. He's a flawed, conflicted human being. Some people call that 'angsty', i prefer it over something like Darth Maul, whose only character trait (in the movie universe!) is 'horns on his head and a dope-ass light saber

Finn is a deserter painted as a hero. I think that, by itself, makes him a very valuable character. He's not a coward, he makes the decision that he will not be the tool to a tyranny.
Liam yielded to save himself from being in those movies.Still the only guy to ever kill Liam Nesson on screen so he's cool.
I bet Edward Snowden is gonna like this movie.
well it was just the starting point for new trilogy and continuation of beloved original trilogy ... for me it was big success in that regard.Although the awesome finale (space battle + duel) of Jedi might tip the balance slightly in favour of it. Compared to A New Hope though I thought this one was slightly worse, it just doesn't come together as well at the end, nor is the middle as strong.
With Kylo/Ben and Drivers performance I couldn't help but feel that, with better writing, he would of been an excellent Anakin Skywalker in the prequels
That seems to be what a lot of people say.
He sells the conflicted and emotionally torn person better than Hayden, or in general just the prequel Anakin. It's kinda cool that even if in the new trilogy he plays Vader's general role his actual character isn't that Vader-like.
well my understanding was that he is still a kid , with unfinished Sith training, has quite big anger management issues and feels threatened by the amount of the Force he senses from Rey which further feeds his inferiority complex

This...makes sense.I sort of feel like he had training with Luke which stopped when he came down with a touch of the emo-dark-side and was seduced by Snoke but that he either hasn't actually met Snoke in person yet, or at least hasn't had ANY formal training with him.
I'd also guess that Rey was being trained by Luke as a little kid and abandoned when the shit went down, which is why she has some control of the force and skill with the staff.
That would explain a fair bit, including why they're fairly evenly matched when they duel
Yeah, it does really feel that JJ was aiming for that feel.
Given how he's so fascinated by his grandpa, it makes sense that he would have similar conflicted feelings. Though we have to wonder what made him turn to the dark side in the first place. Didn't get the feeling he had a shitty childhood, so I wonder what it was or if it was maybe an inherent tendency to break bad.

I love how Kylo Ren is an actual character and his arc will continue on through the trilogy and he's not another Maul.

One of my favourite moments is when a certain person ignites the Anakin/Luke lightsaber with the "Uncle/Aunt death" score from a new hope playing. The look Ren gives is classic.
