Square Enix asks fans about if Persona 5/FF15 were out at same time, release hint?

Given the choice, I'd play both, but because of time constraints, Persona 5 would definitely be first. I have more faith in Atlus at this point of providing me with what I enjoy in an established franchise, Squenix broke my faith last generation.

I'll get both but I'm more interested in XV.

I've only tried Persona 4 a while back. I remember I loved the concept but I have a hard time getting into the high school setting and wasn't into the characters.

It is very anime I don't mean this as a slight so I can understand why some might be put off. But the characters are very fleshed out since social links expands their backstory which in return make you more attached to the characters. The High school setting ain't for everyone. The game feels awesome because you feel the passage of the seasons and time it's very well done.

If we want to have more JRPG, they need to sell well.
Please Atlus/Square, leave at least 3 month between each game.
If I have to choose one :
Persona 5

Was curious to see how other social media members would compare to GAF, the dichotomy's certainly there. Pretty much what I expected.

60/40 is actually a great result for Persona, since it is a relatively unknown brand in comparison to Final Fantasy.

This is more alarming than comforting to Square Enix if this was the general consensus.

I just CTRL+F'd every page with 'Persona' and almost spat out my drink - has GAF become weeaboo heaven?!

Persona 4 Golden is a legit 5/10, dungeon design is astrocious and the whole edgy anime character shtick is embarrassing. Okay, the UI is hard - but the rest? Y'all get blinded by your affection for 2D anime characters that are as flat as their character portraits. And now you want another one of those basura Social RPGs (can't believe I'm even typing this)?

Pass. Try again. Or better yet: don't.

FFXV originates from the brilliant mind of jeux-auteur Tetsuya Nomura and will not only sell boatloads of PS4s in Japan but start the age of cinematic RPGs paired with both hyperrealismé and masterful game design. Yes, the last demo was lowkey rough around the edges but that's because it's a game that demands everything from the consoles. I prefer avantgarde open-world action-RPG gameplay to linear, turn-based corridor moé bullshit at any time of the day.

Shame on all of you tbh

Hahah,
I love you

Persona 5. I'd rather you not be a bully over this, Square after already showing you don't care about traditional TB fans. If you release FFXV too close to P5 which would assuredly create another Tales of Abyss scenario, you are dicks.

I like the music, and tempo of the fights. I like that enemies can be sneak attacked when walking around the dungeons (well to tell you the truth I don't know how P5's dungeons will be, I'll find out when it's out). I like the catch them all persona system. The boss battles feel epic with all of the things added to it (Music, persona changing, style of the animations, speed of turns, just everything feels great). Final Fantasy feels boring in comparison.

You're post may be an excuse to post that gif, but don't be so quick to dismiss Persona, or pretend people that want to play P5 more than FF XV are crazy. I don't even know if I want to play XV and I loved FF 6 - 12 (excluding 9 because I skipped it due to PS2 releasing), I even love open world games, and Dragon Age. Not being able to change between the characters is one of the things I'm not too excited about. Looking at demos, the game looks boring, but that's probably because the game is a demo in a open world.

If I really had to choose I would pick FFXV

Mainly because I know how much work has gone into it and I know it's going to be a massive game. I would really like to see it released sooner rather than later.

can people not figure out Nibel was (mostly) joking?

General populous probably isn't the best term to use. Something like social media posters who might not frequent GAF much or at all.

I wanted to vote, but I remembered I didn't have a twitter account, and I didn't even know what to do to get to that vote so I didn't even try (there was no link in the twitter image post).

I considered it, even said it may have been an excuse to post the gif, but I have no context of the poster, and anything is possible in this forum. /s is something I have to consider using whenever I'm kidding. It can usually alert people that you are kidding since text has less to work with to show sarcasm.

That poll is of FFXV and P5. So the 60/40 split isn't that hard to imagine given FFXV's harsh development/terrible PR and P5's excellent drip feed of information.

If that poll is about brands, then it would be a different story.

This is how I look at it:

"I like X" is a preference and it's entirely up to you.
"X is better" is an opinion that needs comparison metrics/points, but people confuses it with preference. And it's up to the ability of pointing out the correct metrics and using them, and have nothing to do with tastes.

I could write a full essay, but yeah, it's not the time nor the place.

Saying "X is better than Y" and providing still has an element of subjectivity, not because of taste, but because what you consider as a metric point being the reasons why X is better than Y may not be shared by others. Good example: people who consider retro games better because of challenge, gameplay features etc., whereas people who consider current gen games better because of simple approach to gameplay, forgiving challenge and so on.

It's more complicated than simply "X > Y because A, B and C."

But anyway, besides the terrible nonsensical debate, the fact that XV might launch during the summer is really big news. It means it's further along than we think.

When the release date is announced in March they could actually say "releasing 2/3 months from now!" which would be pretty shocking.

P5 Day 1. Whatever editions they have, probably 1 step up from standard (so soundtrack or tarot cards, etc).

FF15 $30 or less. Eh to be honest, I'd probably do $40.

That and the supposed movie they are doing would be exciting.

Lol Perosna 5 will get destroyed by FFXV in the charts. Outside of GAF Persona is niche.

Hopefully they get released in spaced months.

I'll probably end up owning both but FFXV will be bought day 1 and P5 sometime in a sale.

I amazed so many are saying Persona. I mean 4 is good and all and FF13 was crap but I still have more faith in FF.

...

Maybe I should be questioning myself more than do you guys, when I put it like that.
Am I a fanboy?

GAF has a good taste as usual.

Persona 5, because it's made by a trusted director that made a masterpiece like P4 and 3.

I can't say that FFXV has a bright history in my book.

Seriously, if they released FFXV within the same month of Persona 5, causing it to cannibalize the latter's sales, I'd be pretty damn pissed. We want the genre to be healthy, and turn-based RPGs on consoles are unhealthy enough.

Please Square, give it 3 months at least.

Guess it's cool to pick the more niche game.

I like Persona enough (got true ending in Persona 4G) but honestly the game kind of drags on. Story is decent but I didn't find the social stuff very compelling (despite reading it all), perhaps because I've been out of high school for so long. Also, The battle system is as basic as can be and the level design is non-existent. Art and music as fantastic though.

Getting both games but to pick Persona over FF is insanity to me. Just care less about high school life I guess.

I'm going to be pretty sad if FF is delayed because a vocal minority says they'd buy Persona first.

Persona 5 easily. Though I'm not really hyped for XV. I'll keep an eye on impressions, but from what I hear about the XIII games I don't think I should get too hyped just to be safe.

Both. Play them at the same time on dual monitors bitch

I like how you think.

But I would pick Persona 5. Summer 2016 accounts for more than one month though so I hope neither company makes the mistake of deciding to release its game the same time as the other.

This. In a way the idea of them both releasing in the same period is amazing, even if I'd have to import P5...but they're both big rpgs. Where am I going to find time to play them? Maybe one in May/June, another in September.
