[SPOILERS] Star Wars: The Force Awakens - It's True. All of it.

One thing I noticed while standing in line for a few hours. This is the first time I have seen multiple generations in line for a movie. A lot of older people with their kids and grandkids. A lot of parents with their children. Teens. It was just all ages.

i saw the exact same thing with jurassic world actually.

but the atmosphere in the theater before the film was a whole different beast. it felt like an event.

I didn't read EU. Explain?

I don't mind that. God knows we've dealt with Anakin/Vader in 7 damn movies now. Arcs don't end in Star Wars.

haha Kylo is essentially Jacen, Hans son in the EU. Just look up his Wookiepedia page. Its clearly who they based it off of, down to him using physical pain to gain more strength.

And I'm totally okay with that.

Follow me here, but I think they dropped the ball pretty hard with a great moment.

Kylo Removing His Mask Beef

Kylo takes of his mask during the Rey force mind fight for the first time. Most likely because they need to convey emotion as they're blasting bass at eachother and you can't see it.

However, I wish he kept the mask on for that scene, made it a little shorter and kept the face reveal of Kylo when he confronts Han as his son. At that time, Han sees his son for the first time in a long ass time, and the audience sees Kylo just as a kid...instead of a robot/deformed monster. The impact would have been waaaay more profound.

Totally agreed(he also had it off talking to snoke). Would have hit the han scene harder and he could still just keep it off for the lightsaber fight.

I thought it was just him picking up on how nervous/scared Finn was and maybe even noticed that he didn't fire his gun with all the others.

He wasn't in that bad of shape, was he? I know he took a few pretty bad hits but it didn't seem like anything that would require extensive repair work. Just making sure I didn't somehow miss something there. He had the shot from Chewie, the one from Rey to his arm which was probably the worst and then the scar he'll have on his face.
I mean, we didn't see him fall into a chasm or anything, but surely the state he was in when he gets found is bound to be pretty shitty, considering the planet was crumbling to pieces, right? I know i'm totally projecting, but I can only wonder how close they cut it to picking him up offscreen before Starkiller got wrecked.
I thought the exact same thing haha, glad I wasn't alone.

Haha, me too!

Oh yeah one more thing I have to ask everyone else so I'm not crazy or anything.

During a scene when Rey took the Millennium Falcon for the first time and is piloting through Jakku there is a quick scene where we see another female scavenger dragging a sled accompanied by what seems to be Finn.

Did I just see things or is there time travel involved in the series? I will have to look for the scene again on the DVD/Blue Ray of the film because this is going to drive me insane.

Rey can have her moment too... I just don't think that they're going to kill off or keep the son of Han Solo evil, especially with the fact they killed off Han.

To me, Kylo Ren killing his own father constitutes a "Point of No Return." It might be a bit hypocritical considering Vader got redemption, but it just felt like Ren crossed a line that made it impossible for him to Face-Turn to an audience of people who grew up loving a scoundrel.

Yeah, I expected that but some people still thought there might have been a chance. Now, it seems he's destined to be a comic relief I guess.

No way, I think Finn's got plenty of room to grow and become more of a hero. It's possible to be both comedic and heroic, you know...!

Just finished watching the film and enjoyed it quite a bit. However the one thing I didn't get and I'm not sure I missed is R2-D2 activated at the end of film? I also think for clarity it would have been nice if we knew the Resistance was already in possession of a piece of the map and just needed the missing section.

Do you guys think Snoke is like 4 feet tall in real life and he's just compensating

There will be some kind of twist with him, I don't think they would do a straight Emperor retread.

R2 activated when Rey walked into the Resistance based and he went to see Luke with Rey and Chewie. You can see him hopping up and down as Rey ascends the steps.

hopefully this wont happen. We need a evil Kylo that dies in the end fight against Rey Skywalker.

Agreed, I really don't want a Kylo Ren redemption story. Killing Han is hopefully a sign this won't play out like Vader's story. Let that man be full on evil.

Exactly, there's a world of difference between Anakin killing Mace Windu and Kylo killing Han Solo. I know Vader killed Obi-Wan but the audience didn't have the same connection with Kenobi as they do Han after all these years.

Even though the EU isn't cannon anymore, you better believe JJ is going to rip and tear all that and paste it back together to get his trilogy. The EU is back, but maybe not as we all would like it.

That would have been amazing, especially with how that scene turns around with what Rey says to him. Edit - although that would have removed a lot of his vulnerability, we would have just had a brief moment of "he's a kid" then he kills han and we'd be "oh, no, he's just a dick".

Also how old was leia when she had him???!

I don't think these new movies are for you.

Well I enjoyed Force Awakened quite a bit and can't wait for to ep VIII.

But if it's anything like...

Luke probably blocked out her memories and experience while suppressing her Force powers in order to make her undetectable to the new enemies. Luke did not have full Jedi training before his mentors died and probably knew he would get stomped by Snoke, leaving Rey to die easily.

you're right. I don't think I could sit through something so ridiculous.

Safe to assume Phasma is still alive? Hope we get more of her, that was my only real disappointment.

Also can someone give a summary of what Rey saw in her vision? I already forget most of it.

And what happened with the Knights of Ren I thought I'd read about? Do they exist?

Finn is going to be the next Han Solo. He's good enough with Chewie to fix his wounds, he can use the turrets, he has the jacket, he has the swagger, and Poe is clearly just going to stay a fighter pilot.

Saw the snowy encounter with Kylo Ren, saw Luke placing his hand on R2, saw Kylo slaughtering people. She also heard the cries of children (younglings Anakin slaughtered, I presume)

i think 'anh remastered' is a sort of adequate way to describe the movie, but i think it's also one of the key things this movie in particular needed to be. now if rian johnson's episode viii is a retread of empire, then i think there will be some problems with the sequel trilogy. until then, i think it was a necessary way to regain trust in the star wars movies.

Wait what? The only clip I remember is one of scavengers rushing to pick up parts of the downed TIE fighters.

Agreed. I was perfectly fine with the familiar beats.

he has none of the swagger. the most important part of han which was present in poe dameron's intro.

i hope dameron has a larger role in the other two, he was great.

Everyone I saw it with thought the sound mixing was poor. We're not pros or anything, but it stuck out so much with all of us.

In my head I would keep comparing it to the reaction I would get from seeing Mad Max earlier in the year, how the sound and music in that movie made every hair in your body stand up.

The theatre I was in was really good actually. I went to one of those theatres with an Atmos setup though. I was pretty much in the center of the whole theatre.

Unless they introduce a new Sith (which I hope they do) in the next film then I doubt they will kill off Kylo in that next one, Kylo is here to stay until the last film and die in that one.

Probably, but I think it would be awesome if he was really a giant dude.

It'd be kinda cool if in like episode IX, our heroes storm the first orders base and find kylo kneeling in front of a presumably holographic snoke only to realize that no, he really is that big, he really is in the room and he's about to fuck shit up.

I believe C3-PO said that he might have more in his database, but had to shut itself down in low power mode.

Phasma will be in the next movie, she is alive.

Rey saw Kylo in the snow, the Bespin hallway where Vader duelled Luke, her being abandoned on Jakku when she was a kid, Luke with R2 and the knights of Ren attacking the Jedi Temple.

The Knights of Ren are mentioned briefly by Snoke but it's not clear who the other members are or what they are doing.

i loved finn and boyega can be cool as shit (attack the block) but in here he seems more like a follower than a leader. poe will likely fill that han-void in the next few.

It really, really felt like they were building up Finn to be Han Solo Jr. Especially with all of the funny lines they tried to feed him, to the point of overdoing it. It's like they wanted to establish him as the new funny guy since Han is gone. I just hope he doesn't really have force powers but does use a lightsaber instead of a blaster like Han.

The 'missing part of the map' thing seemed awfully weak to me. If you had no map, fine...but if you have every bit of the map except where he is...well then you know where he is.
Wasn't it the other way around? BB-8 had the tiny cutout, which without some labels is completely useless for telling you where in the galaxy a place is (imagine if someone handed you a map that was just an outline of interstate highways, unlabeled, and expected you to find that place) while R2 had the entire remainder of the galactic map that told them what the context was.

Wait what? The only clip I remember is one of scavengers rushing to pick up parts of the downed TIE fighters.

It was at least 5 seconds or less. Again I might had been seeing things. The female scavenger had Rey's outfit with similar face covering and a sled, but I do believe I saw Finn next to that person during that scene.

I hope Rey is no one's daughter. I hope she's not connected to anyone, and is just a new Jedi altogether that takes Luke's place. Ben Solo already fulfills the legacy aspect.

Hey guys, where does the "kylo" part come from? Is it just a nonsense word like "vader?"

I'm actually starting to think that this won't be resolved with 2 more movies - I have a feeling these conflicts, relationships, and characters are going to grow and develop for far longer.

A central plot point may be resolved by the end of Episode IX, but I think Episode X (and beyond) are inevitable.

Disney will milk the cash cow for as long as its teats squirt money.

What I don't understand is if R2 has been suffering from droid depression why did he snap out of it at that moment, and not before when BB8 approached him?

Well, I would prefer him to not use a saber. That's a Jedi or Sith staple... But who knows? I think it's clear Rey is going to get a double-edged saber, though.

I didnt see any of this Swagger your talking about. Finn was the weakest character out of the main cast IMO.
Poe was awesome and I hope he gets a larger role in the next film.

I dunno, I think that Finn was just growing into the role. He's the outsider, he's reluctant to get involved, he is pretty much only immediately concerned with himself and those he cares about, just like Han. I think that he will go on to become the leader we all want him to be, especially since he's probably going to be one of the three main "POV characters" in VIII.

Kylo is a rank/title within the Knights of Ren, who seem to be like the Hitler Youth of the Dark Side.

To me it was implied that he turned on because of Rey's presence, if she is Luke's kid then makes sense that he has been waiting for her.
