What's your opinion on the guy behind the counter at Jakku?
That guy has a name.
And it's Simon Pegg.

Before I walked into see the movie there were all these toys and even tshirts portraying the silver captain trooper.
It's pretty hilarious what a chump she turned out to be.
I enjoyed how he just talked shit to Ren and clearly didn't think much of him. Total reversal from the kowtowed officers for Vader.
From what we saw, I just didn't understand why Snokes was CGI. He just looked like a dude who was fucked up. Maybe it'll make sense when we actually see him. He is one of my biggest concerns going forward.
I remember reading that Ford was signed up for more movies. Probably just a misdirect.
Did she die?
If not she could always end up as a bigger presence in later movies.
Did Han really need to die, I mean Darth Caedus didn't kill Han?
force ghosts ~ooooooo~
(yes i know it's a jedi thing)
Can you stop acting like Kylo and Anakin are anything alike ?
Anakin had legitimate reasons. Kylo is a whiny brat that was born with a silver spoon as far as we know.
Anakin didn't just decide to be evil for the sake of being evil. Which is exactly what Kylo is doing for now. It might change in the sequels, but not currently.
To the bolded...
- I'm fairly certain they're going to go with Rey having some sort of PTSD. She was definitely one of Luke's original padawans before Ben Solo flipped his shit and murdered the new Order. It wouldn't surprise me if she has some general idea/training of the Force. She clearly has suppressed memories of her time before Jakku, unless we wanna go with everything she saw when she touched Luke's saber as a force vision--but I saw some of it as remembering her own past.
I thought the bit with Ben/Kylo and Han on the bridge was fascinating. I'm really hoping it wasn't actually Benlo playing it up for dramatic effect and he actually was conflicted. The part about "being torn apart" and "in pain" makes me think that it really, really sucks to have Force sensitivity. It might be why Snoke was able to manipulate him into turning against the new Jedi, even. What if being force sensitive and not properly trained with it could turn you mad, especially if you're taught to embrace it early on like I'm sure Han and Leia's kid would've been?
All the Jedi with good lightsaber skills died.

Ren's emotion is what I liked the best about his character. He's human. He wastes time taking off his mask because he believes he's in control; he's arrogant. He slashes up the control panel because he is upset. Extremes that work against him but to be align with the Dark Side don't you have to let your negative emotions run wild?
Please tell me that was Nien Nunb at the end. I need that to be Nien Nunb at the end. The man, the myth, the legend must live on.
Tarkin ordered Vader around in ANH. This dude was clearly Tarkin 2.0. Just a normal British dude who's somehow a higher rank in the evil organization than the Force trained, black helmet wearing leader's pet Skywalker.
Tie Fighters that can shoot backwards seem super OP. Wonder if they're still shieldless.
Kylo was awesome in my opinion. Like I said last night, he's exactly what Anakin Skywalker should have been in the prequels - with a bit of "Vader groupie" thrown in.
If someone with Darth Vader's injuries can be kept alive fixing a spine should be no problem.
I strongly suspect that Han getting killed off helped lure Harrison Ford to agree to do the film.
I also suspect that JJ had the original plan for RotJ in mind, in which Han was originally planned to die at the start of the third act.
Oh shit. That makes a lot of sense.I think it's a hint as to Rey's origin. They were very conscious in the OT that british accents were given to Imperial people. So if she's Luke's daughter, perhaps the mother was someone imperial? Or she's just from an Imperial family?
I'm really sad I didn't get a sick space battle
i love my space battles. Planet attack was cool but there's something really fucking great about capital ships pounding each other with missiles while fighters and bombers are dogfighting all over the place

Still the Death Star blew up and is a sun. Surely he isnt alive. Unless chewy went looking for the body and has him in the Milleniums Falcon Bay.Hey, if there's no dead body shown...
Indeed, bacta technology is a wonderful thing
Important, yes. Known to the audience, no. You pick up between that and a mention a little later on that he was familial with Han and Leia's family.
edit - and obviously Luke.

Also it seems clear that he is torn. I doubt that scene on the bridge with Solo was just a skit.

Ford LOOKED like he was having fun. You can't fake that.. You just can't. Look at Indy 4... This was Ford's best performance in yea--- no, decades. I really think Han dying played a part in that. It gave him one last hurrah in the role that brought him pretty much all of his success in life, letting loose and not having to worry about following it up or being attached to this for the rest of his life.I strongly suspect that Han getting killed off helped lure Harrison Ford to agree to do the film.

Vader stopping a blast with his hand > Ren stopping a blast with The Force
Ren's is really cool, don't get me wrong. But Vader's way was straight up "I don't even need the Force to stop this shit"
Please tell me that was Nien Nunb at the end. I need that to be Nien Nunb at the end. The man, the myth, the legend must live on.

That makes no sense. Using the force is new to her. Did she get amnesia?I'm really eating up all these theories on Rey's backstory. I'm with a lot of you that I hope she's not Luke's kid but it would be cool if she excelled at his academy before getting dropped off on Jakku.
First teaser for VII:
Rey walks through a cave like the one Luke went through on Degobah. A sound in the distance. Rey unholsters a long lightsaber handle. Another sound. Rey ignites her light saber and holds it horizontally in front of her, gripping it around its middle. A figure can be seen rounding a corning in front of her. Rey ignites her saber's second blade.
CROWD GOES INSANE.
But seriously, if she isn't using a double bladed lightsaber then somebody fucked up. Rey has to be attached to that staff for a reason.
not like those shields were ever shown to have helped an X-Wing.
Are shielded X-Wings "canon"?
Vader took down X-Wings in the death star trench with a few shots. - was it because they had aligned all energy to the frontal deflector shields?
