Oh, you know better than that, guek. There are people who are genuinely upset that TFA did better than AoU on both counts. Why? I have no idea but they are out there.
Oh sure, I just meant within GAF after the news broke or this thread was bumped.

There's a TON of cross pollination between Marvel and Star Wars fans in any case without much animosity, at least from what I've seen. The only salt I see is people still salty that JW did so well or that the MCU has the gall to be successful.

I get you, but don't pretend you've never shown bias.

What? Name anything that I choose one over the other. I'm in the Flash and Arrow threads every week-rave about the Batman Snyder series in the comic threads, named Dark Knight my favorite comic movie in that voting thread, and have spent the last day in the Star Wars spoiler thread geeking out. I think you're thinking about someone else, brother.

Also-in this very thread picked Star Wars over Ultron ahead of time. The only thing I'm biased towards is fun entertainment.

That Ant-Man crow thread will follow you to your grave!

The funny thing here is that Disney owns both ips. Arguing about which is going to do better is sort of moot when Disney makes money either way.

Avengers bigger in overseas gross, Star Wars bigger domestically with Star Wars being the better film

Still more excited for Jurassic World though, and all three will clear 1 billion worldwide, with Avengers > Star Wars >>> Jurassic Park. None will touch 2 Bil (I'd say 1.8, 1.6 and 1.2)

Although the change in the currency market might not help things

hmmmm
Right about it being bigger domestic and the better film
Remains to be seen if it will be bigger overseas, but its looking likely

400m over on Ultron, 470m under on JW

Not too bad tbh. At least I gave JW some props which a lot of others didnt

Hindsight is 20/20 and all...but I just don't see a marvel franchise beating Star Wars the force awakens. Way too many of the movies and reboots. I honestly don't even know which avengers age of ultron is. Is it the third or is it the second? Don't get me wrong, I love all of them - but I don't think they have quite touched the nerve that Star Wars has.

I can't believe JW did as well as it did. I don't really recall there being much hype around that. Certainly not anything near the amount SW has had, plus marketing. What's the logic behind it? Nostalgia?

Star Wars will be bigger. As for better, I bet Star Wars reviews better. Personally, I love Star Wars and superheroes so I expect and hope to love both of them equally.

Haven't actually had the chance to see Star Wars yet, but it looks like I was right on the money with the first two.

I'm doing xmas shopping in a Westfield right now and they're playing Star Wars music over and over again.

My girlfriend was here last night and said it was the same.

While we were sitting in the theater for 2 hours opening night, they kept playing the Imperial March over and over. Not straight, but enough to drive you crazy.

Might as well write this down so I can brag or eat crow in January 2016.

Box-office: Avengers ($1.4 billion) > Star Wars ($1.2 billion)

Review scores: Star Wars > Avengers

Got Avengers box office and review order right.

Maybe the world ends in two weeks and Star Wars only makes $1.2 billion... Did not expect it to be an event movie.

I see that high rate of the dollar is quickly becoming the new excuse for why Avatar won't be taken down.
It's a shame that Avatar wouldn't be taken down anytime soon with how bad of a movie that is.

Marvel fatigue is real.
Except it's not and you can keep pretending it is with no proof.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised that Star Wars is going to be a huge earner, I really liked Age of Ultron and I wouldn't have bet against Star wars.

My crystal ball says:

Star Wars will be more well-received.

Avengers will make around $450 million more at the worldwide box office.

Meryl Streep will be nominated for yet another Oscar.

Cookie Kwan still number one realtor in the West Side.
LOL me. I knew this thread would come back to haunt me. I have no idea where I put that $450 million figure from.

Oh well. I loved the Force Awakens and Cookie Kwan is still numba 1!

It's not an excuse. Star Wars could match Avatar's gross in every international market's local currency and still lose by several hundred million in USD.

However, I don't think things are going to be close enough for that to matter. Unless it gets insane holiday legs, or an insane Chinese gross, it looks like TFA will have a uphill battle to $2B. Currency exchange doesn't account for a $800M deficit between the two films.

The best part of this thread is how under the radar Jurassic World was.

I'm happy both it and Star Wars have had such massive success. Age of Ultron was fun, but I'm burnt out on super heroes. Give me more dinosaurs and lightsabers.
