You're the one defending a romance that gets kicked off by Hayden Christensen giving creepy stalker eyes and talking about sand.

Oh noes!! One line about how sand is annoying! I bet that must have pissed you off to no end.

Anyone who thinks the prequels are good movies should watch this.
Strike that, anyone should watch this. Highly enjoyable, much more than the prequels trilogy itself.

Enjoy!

Already did. Nitpicking and an overall negative attitude didn't change my mind about the movies.

This is canon.

My issue with people who bask the PT is they do so with the mindset that EVERYTHING about them were shit. There were some good ideas there it just horribly executed.

Like people bitch about the PT not using practical sets. That still wouldn't have helped the acting, script or plot of the movies.

I think they are bad SW movies the ideas were there just executed in the worst possible way imo.

Most of the problems with the Prequel Trilogy can be traced back to lack of character agency and the fact that George Lucas was clearly in love with the idea of the Jedi being the good guys.

If the Jedi had been painted more grey (like, point out they're brainwashing children) then Anakin could have consciously chosen the dark side for the relative freedom it provided and decide he needs to balance out the force by reducing the number of Jedi to match the number of Sith. If it were treated like a twisted moral choice instead of some bizarre destiny meets manipulation meets teen angst, it would have been a lot more interesting to watch.

I'm not super down with flashbacks. The brief Force fueled one in this movie was fine as it came from her touching the saber and being flooded with visions and memories through the Force, but when you start going full flashback mode you're not moving forward enough.

I think it should be touched on, but they should be careful as to how its portrayed.

Yeah, it's the kinda thing that screams "novel".

Ren killed some kids. Probably killed Rey's mom, too. I got that, but I have zero interest in seeing that on screen to that degree of detail. Put it in a book.

The difference is a lot of the cgi in the prequels is unnecessary and adds nothing to the film. As people said before a lot of the time it's just garbage and noise overloading your senses.

I would say that the planet scapes in TFA are wholly unremarkable. Jakku is some generic desert ala Tatooine, Starkiller base is just a forest, etc. Say what you will about Lucas and the PT, at least he tried to broaden the SW Galaxy with visually spectacular landscapes that you couldn't find on Earth like Coruscant, Kamino or Mustafar.

Then you show them the practical sets photos (That they believed were CGI), and they conveniently don't respond/skip the posts entirely.

Yea. I'm not a HUGE fan of the prequels. I enjoy moments in each movie, but I'll be the first to tell you that those events are canon.

You complain about Jakku being a generic desert planet and then you prop up a generic water planet as a visually spectacular landscape

They WERE good though. They were always meant to be. Guardians of peace and justice. But they were flawed in their rules. So what you're saying does sort of apply. Anakin turns partially because of their stupid no relationship policy and how they apparently can't go visit people. These things added stress to Anakin and arguably led to Shmi's death, which then in Anakin's head was going to lead to the death of his wife and child.

From his point of view, they were evil :p

Nice. I have nothing against people who dislike the prequels. But trying to throw issues at them, and then ignoring them when they are told that stuff originating in the OT is very telling of the bias of some people.

What is this about?

pretty lengthy reviews of each of the prequel movies, the first one isn't as long as the other ones, but the second and third review are movie length. He makes it comedic but is very detailed about the issues with the prequels. If you've ever heard someone say "whats wrong with your faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace" it's from this review.

Finn/Poe grosses me out. I get way too many brotherly vibes from that. Poe gave Finn his name! It's like he was the older brother he never had.

Yeah, I was never big on dissing people for liking the prequels. I'll be taken aback for sure, but I'm not gonna stone anyone for it.

Yeah I'm down with that but I'm mostly talking about how he felt the need to fill every wide shot with a million different stupid cartoon aliens and make sure to include stupid fart and poop gags.

There are instances of legitimately good cgi but for every scene where you've got badass obi wan Kenobi riding a giant lizard, you've got the fucking awful scene with Anakin and padme riding those buffalo-type things or whatever on naboo. There are times when it can work or is needed, and times where its completely unnecessary.

The planet scapes were one of the prequel's strengths. Order 66 was an excellent sequence because of it.

Already did. Nitpicking and an overall negative attitude didn't change my mind about the movies.
Well when an entire movie's central emotional hook is between two people awkwardly reading lines that no human would ever say (let alone reciprocating feelings towards), it's pretty fucking hard to give a shit. Made all the more baffling by him admitting to slaughtering an entire village including women and children, and she responds with a pat on the head as opposed to running from this psychopath.

Or in the next movie where the emotional crux is the fear of losing one's wife, whom he has zero onscreen chemistry with.

Yup. Such nitpicks.

I know lol, it was meant to be sarcastic as you just can't go five minutes without being referenced those reviews. I think they're funny and they have points, yet it's fine to acknowledge problems while still enjoying a movie.

It should've been Naboo. Get rid of Gungans once and for all.

In universe though it doesn't make sense for the Not-Empire to blow up the home world of the Emperor

One thing I am a bit tired of is how every planet/moon in star wars has no sort of climate differences.

A planet/moon has 1 biome and that's it.

I get what you mean, but also remember that most of the planets we visit in these movies we only get a glimpse of one region.

People like the prequels?

Welcome to outside the Internet.

A co-worker was talking about TFA today and said it was good but not as good as the old ones. When I asked what exactly did she mean by "the old ones", she said "Well, the other six". Like there isn't even a conceptual difference between PT and OT.

Yeah, sorry that a fantasy movie in space doesn't have super realistic dialogue. The OT had shitty, over-the-top dialogue as well. It doesn't bother me either way.

We watched a marathon of the 6 movies before watching VII, including a friend who had NEVER seen a single Star Wars film in his life.

The PT was his favorite trilogy out of the 2. Which would be impossible according to the Internet.

Of course, it's meant to be the future and perhaps that's what Kylo saw. But canon wise, every single vision someone has involved people they're related to. Anakin with Shmi and Padme. Luke with Leia on Cloud City. And now Rey with Luke.

Luke had visions of both Han and Leia. Called out both of their names didn't he?
