Do we know how long Luke has been missing for, when Ben killed his Jedi class and and how long ago that Rey was dropped off?
What I'm wondering is whether or not it's possible she's a child of Ben Kenobi or a child of his bloodline. Is his history established between the prequels and the OT? Or his family for that matter?

I love how TFA reintroduces some mystery to the force. Letting us know that it isn't as simple as Jedi vs Sith and that being light or dark aligned doesnt automatically make you one or the other, that those are just man-made religions dedicated to certain lines of thinking and the force is bigger than that. Snoke doesn't seem to be a Sith even though he is clearly a user of the dark side. And there seems to be a yinyang aspect to it that Luke didn't previously understand and seeks to understand in isolation.

I look forward to seeing where they take it in the future and finding out what Luke learned in the lonely years.

Totally agree, it made the force magical again.

Anyone else not like the 'Force-off' between Rey and Kylo during the interrogation? You immediately get the jist of whats going on but it just lasted for so long. It's one of those scenes where it bothered me first time watching it, but as I watch it more my problems with it will hopefully evaporate as I learn the film better.

Here it is:

Yeah this is awesome, and I hope it's a little bit true. Like I said in my previous post it feels like they've been toying with the idea of bringing the big elements of KOTOR into official canon and they're just kinda testing the waters and stuff beforehand.

I feel like that scene would have been improved if the flashback had taken place during the interrogation. Instead of when she touches the hilt.

I liked it. Their expressions were great.

I too, was upset over the lack of time the guys from The Raid got in this movie. Basically a fly by cameo. Was expecting more after they talked up their involvement in the fight scenes.

I laughed a little at the theatre.. it was a little too long. Just a smidge.

Oh yeah what the hell....that scene and the war room scene was basically wasted cameo central.

I don't know if its a waste as the raid actors were mostly hired for more behind the scenes jobs.

For all we know maybe Rama was the suit actor for the Riot control trooper that Finn fought

I'm expecting Rey to be Lukes kid.

It will give the big episode 9 clash between her and Kylo the family members fighting thing that Luke and Vader had in 6.

It also fits with the ROTJ quote from Luke that they reused/changed/reordered for the second trailer.

Kylo Ren: If you only knew the power of The Dark Side! Luke never told you what happened to your cousin.
Rey: He told me enough! He told me you killed him!
Kylo Ren: No. I am your Cousin.
Rey: No... that's not true! That's impossible!
Kylo Ren: Search your feelings. You know it to be true.
Rey: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! NOOOOOOOO!

I did think it was a little long the first time I saw it, but not on repeat viewings. The two of them play off each other so well it's surprisingly clear what's going on, without any verbalization. Rey's pushback surprises them both, then emboldens her and sends him running off to daddy. That scene could have gone wrong so many ways. I have a feeling outtakes from it might be hilarious.

We love it, and were all happy, but we can't deny that the score might be the worst of all 7 film's, right?

I mean what happened?
Two themes aside, I thought the prequels had awful music. But I can't remember a single new theme from this one after three viewings - none of them stick - and a lot of the incidental and action much was kinda generic. I'd put it below the OT by a fair margin, but above the PT.

what's the life expectancy of a gungan? Is there any way that the hologram emperor is jarjar?
Don't know, but JarJar was already wrinkled compared to the other Gungans, so I'm guessing he was already older in the prequels.
But that may have been due to being exiled to the surface.

It'd be cool if they swerve us and she's actually Obi Wan's granddaughter. What with both of them having English accents and all.

But yeah she's probably Luke's kid or Leia had a one night stand or something.
THAT'S NOT HOW MIDICHLORIANS GENETICS WORKS

I'm willing to blame the editing/pace of the movie

Modern movies are too noisy mang

I don't know about anyone else, but I was disappointed there were any wipes to the next scene, like in every Star Wars before this one. That didn't feel right.

Maybe he has extra force in him though and can use it to preserve his health?

There are few things funnier than some asshole troll on BLOPS 3 threatening to spoil the movie for your group, only for every to text back "HAN DIES!" in unison.

Good times.

Ok, just got back from seeing and I loved it.

I loved everything except Rey's use of the force. She goes from thinking it was all a myth, to using Jedi head games to get free. It broke the immersion for her character.

Kylo killing Han, I didn't expect that to happen, but I wasn't surprised he did.

Finn, took a great turn. From wanting to run as far as possible from the first order, to helping take hem down was awesome.

Great Star Wars film, will definitely watch it again.

It wasn't fantastic in theaters. It was mixed pretty quietly, I thought.

I do think that Rey's Theme, the theme of the First Order/Kylo Ren, and March of the Resistance are pretty fantastic, though.

To me, Rey's force powers were a bigger surprise than Han's death. I'd have been MUCH more annoyed at getting that spoiled.
Hardly forgettable. Reys theme, Resistance theme, Kylo theme were great.

I can't recall a single note from any of them.

I didn't care for Kylo's theme. Very, uh... "1940s Hail Hydra." It didn't work for me. I hope it's beefed up substantially for VIII.

Rey's is fantastic however.

I guarnfucking tee they are not betting a multibillion dollar franchise on an RPG video game story.
Why not? It'd be a cool nod for the fans and they can explain it (through what Luke has found) in such a way that all of the audience can easily understand it. The fall of Revan and Malik is a pretty cool storyline to canonize

Yeah it was a nothing score. Really the only thing about the movie that was totally forgettable.

I disagree. Torn Apart, Jedi Steps, March of the Resistance, Rey's Theme, The Scavenger...I've found them to be very memorable.

If I'd only judged it on what I'd heard in the film I'd probably agree with you apart from a few tracks. But listening to it several times, there's a lot to enjoy. It's a slow burner. I'm glad John was able to do it,

So I did a quick search, but couldnt find what I wanted.

Does anyone know if the Starkiller weapon exhausts a star each time it has to fire, or did it exhaust the star after recharging for the second shot?

Duel of Fates and Across the Stars, and Battle of Hero's are godly.

I thought the soundtrack was subtly awesome. Fit the movie very well. Seemed to me that Rey and Kylo's themes were eerily similar, one light, one dark.

Just saw the movie, loved it! I might be asking a question that's been answered already. was there a scene cut that explained why the republic would only send Rey to get Luke? I mean they've been desperately look for this map and Luke: wouldn't they send a squadron and maybe leia?

Rey is absolutely going to be Luke's daughter. Maz practically spelled it out that the light saber belonged to Anakin, then Luke and now it's calling to her.

If it doesn't end up that way, that's fine, but this is most likely the case, unless JJ was pulling some shit in that scene.

She probably insisted she go on her own to get trained

I'm sure this was already brought up,but does anyone else think Leia might already know who Rey is? When they first met after Starkiller Base was destroyed, Leia wasn't even mourning Hans' death. She immediately went straight to Rey and hugged her with a smile.

Another reason why I think the Solos might know is because there was a scene where Maz Kanata asked Han who she was and was immediately cut short. Part of me is still clinging on that she might be a Solo, but that's just me just looking back into that now famous first table read photo where she was sitting (it's probably just coincidental now).

But I think I'm heavily favoring that she's Luke's kid with I don't know.

Loved most of the score but there were a couple of missed opportunities. The Falcon escape from Jakku being one. Think about the Asteroid chase from Empire. The other being the destruction of the Starkiller base. There was really no fanfare to it.
