Is ARMA 3 any good? For single player that is, not particularly interested in multiplayer.
I kind of want a tactical military game.

When I have time, you better bet your peanut butter and baloney sandwich that I'm posting a list of niche quality horror and atmospheric games that have great discounts more of you all need to check out.

I have to highly recommend Infested Planet @ $4.94

Like the Spartans standing against the massive Persian forces, here you control a small squad of space marines facing overwhelming alien hordes. The extraterrestrial menace spawns in waves of hundreds from hives across the map and your tactical prowess and advanced weaponry are the only advantages against such odds. Flamethrowers, mini-guns, powerful turrets and mines, airstrikes, buffed troopers, and more allow you to bolster your squad and adapt your defenses. But your enemy is just as reactive, able to mutate new forms and abilities to counter your own tactics.

Every battle is a desperate push and pull across the map, as you destroy hives and build bases, spreading out your men and defenses to hold back the encroaching hordes. However the tide can turn at any moment; perhaps the horde mutates heavier armor, or poisonous projectiles, or creates an organic minefield. Perhaps the hive spawns alien clones of your troopers or becomes resistant to your turret fire. Suddenly your frontline is breached, and there's a panicked rush to assess and adjust your strategy. Can you sacrifice a turret maintaining a critical chokepoint to call down an airstrike? Can you manage one front while sending marines to hold back a new horde? This fluid moment-to-moment action makes Infested Planet a thrilling strategy game

All i wanted was the deathspank trilogy to be on sale.

You tease me with only having 1 on sale - why steam why!!!!!!!

I wouldnt mind if the queue and the discovery didnt suck so much

just went through my queue and it was just all the new games that came out like JC3, Squad, Blops 3 and Total Annihilation. great

Wow...40+ games on my wishlist, all a measly 15-33% off. Literally nothing to buy. How the Steam sale has fallen this past year...

How's Company of Heroes 2?

I'm thinking about giving it to my Dad as a gift since he loves WWII a lot. Is it a good choice for someone who hasn't played a strategy game before?

I haven't played much CoH2, but the single player campaign in the original actually does a pretty good job of easing players into the game, introducing various mechanics as the game progresses. Is your dad interested in any particular aspect of WWII? I know CoH2 is mostly about the Russian front while the original focused on the U.S. with some British and German campaigns included in the expensions.

For people questioning about darkest dungeon I highly suggest it. Their official release date is 1 month but right now it's still amazing and feels like a complete product.

They just introduced a new class called abomination and welll...I'll let you decide :)

Edit: on mobile so many weird errors in this post

Daily deals are dead for the winter sale too? Christmas is ruined!

No but really, this sucks. It's not like we're getting the same type of deals for two weeks instead, why did they decide to do this?

Well this is a pretty shitty sale hmmm.

Going to get Undertale (finally), Lisa, and Her Story I think.

All the other stuff on my wishlist is too expensive in proportion to the chance that I'll actually play it.

I'm about to drop $28.84 for SIX of the 15 games on my wishlist.

HER STORY
System Shock 2
STASIS
Primorida
Gemini Rue
Murder

STASIS is by far the most expensive at just 40% off (14.99) but it I'm not sweating it. The only question is: what order should I play these in?

Has anyone played KOTOR recently? I haven't since maybe a couple months after release and am curious if it holds up. Trying to find something else to scratch my Star Wars itch.

So does this include Horizons?

Nah, but you get a 15 dollar discount off Horizons if you own Elite: Dangerous (at least for now) so it evens out and you get a chance to try the base game out before paying full price

Edit: Still with the misconception that FF8 uses standard windows Midi like FF7 when it actually uses its own soundformat :P

You knew what was up when you put Her Story first

Sid Meyer's Civilization: Beyond Earth for $15.

This is the price I was looking for. I know a lot of people were disappointed with it, but I (as contrarian as I am) enjoyed it more than Civ 5. Probably because I enjoy Sci-Fi for 4X than ancient history.

It's no Alpha Centari though. When is that and Alien Crossfire coming, EA? ;_;

Maybe the worst steam sales I've seen. Most games are 30-50% off even those that have been lower. I guess I won't be buying anything.

Humble Squeenix 3 BTA tier isn't great, but I suppose that 33% off LIS season pass coupon would stack with the sale discount. Will keep an eye out next week - if the added games are decent and BTA drops low enough (~$3.85 now), might be a good buy.

Centauri is on GOG. :P

€58 for

Mad Max
Mass Effect 2
Life is Strange 1-5
Lego Jurassic World (my daughter will explode!)
Besiege
Doorkickers
Snakebird

That'll do nicely!

I kind of want a tactical military game.

Yeah it's great, there are a bunch of really fun singleplayer missions/campaigns on the Steam workshop, and the game has a normal campaign as well, it's not quite like a typical shooter story though as in it's not cinematic™ and filled with set pieces and stuff, it's like a series of encounters wrapped in a open world with a story going on.

I see...they're selling Horizons as a complete different SKU, at full price. Not liking how they're handling these upgrades.

I mean you can play it single-player but it isn't really designed for that. The whole "point" of ARMA is the mission creator and running it in multiplayer or just exploring the island on your own without doing "campaigns."

If you can get it cheap and are interested, I guess it isn't bad. I paid the Early Access $30 or so price and got burned HARD because they introduced DLC and didn't grand-father EA buyers in so I have to pay like $20-45 just for the season pass stuff. Blech.

Insomniac's little indie Steam experiment "Sit Down, Bull" is $1.01

King's Quest episode 1 is $0.99. No idea if it's good and/or if the season pass will ever get a decent discount, but that's a start.
