FFV is an amazing game but the remaster is pretty sloppy in terms of presentation. If the art style doesn't bother you, go for it.

Oath and Origin are both superb and have almost the same combat, with different playstyles.

I'd recommend that you start with the first one though...

Ys i+II -> Oath -> Origin -> VI
 
ack.. so tempted just to empty out my wishlist...

i do wish tits SC had a bigger discount but i do understand why it isn't. I just hope they weren't expecting it sell like hotcakes at that price.

Played all the Steam ones this year, my list would be...

1. Origin.
2. Oath in Felghana
3. Chronicles II (not that you can buy it alone)
4. Ark of Napishtim
5. Chronicles I

Ark has the weakest bosses and platforming of the modern ones IMO, I know it was the first of them originally. Its OK though, and Oath is a good buy. Google how to add the PSP voice acting if you are interested.
 
Can anyone please suggestion a good space flight sim? Looking to maybe get into flights, but just explore and get it away from it all...

Is there ANY downside in just buying the Dark Souls 2 upgrade instead of re-buying the whole game? I have the base game with no DLC.

If I was going to only play 1 of the following RPG's during my time off of work next week, which would you suggest? Undertale, Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, or Xenoblade Chronicles (not x). I already have Xenoblade, but I've heard great, great things about both Undertale and Trails too.
 
Is there any reason not to go with the Steam version of TIE Fighter? I seem to remember something about GOG's being superior... or... something.

I played the first episode of tales of the borderlands on ps4 and loved it. I was waiting for a sale.
I know nothing about life is strange. But i've seen a lot of praise.

Both KOTOR are dirty cheap and thanks to TFA i'm hyped for star wars stuff. So screw it, i'll give it a try. Even if i can't play it properly.

I need games to entertain me through the holidays.

Same world, but self-contained. I'd say Returns + Dragonfall, but a lot of people would say just DF. I like the story in Returns, and think it does the noir/detective aspect of the world better. I'd say both if you really like noir, just DF if not. DF improves upon everything Returns does, but that doesn't mean you should skip it.
 
Can someone tell me how GTA 5 is on PC? I have it on Xbox One, but i now have a new rig with a GTX 970 so trying to build my steam library. How is the online community? Is it still popular? easy to find groups etc?
 
Whole lot of stuff in that $10-12 range that I'm looking at, gotta decide what to pare down to:

Hand of Fate
Satellite Reign
Darkest Dungeon
Talos Principle
Alien Isolation
Cities Skylines

And there's always Dying Light, but weighed against two of those games, I dunno. What's the deal with the enhanced edition for that, again? Free upgrade? Comes out in a few months?

The online community is pretty big, dunno about groups though, always played with some friends.
 
Picked up Beyond Eyes, Three Fourths Home: Extended Edition and Hacknet.

That should do it for me, kinda nice you don't have to wait to buy games until the end of the sale for potential dailies. ;p
 
Silent Hill Homecoming is only $10. I've been curious to try it for a while, loved Silent Hill 2, but I'm loathe to give Konami any money after what they've done to the series. Does anyone think the game is worth $10?

All are mostly self-contained, though there are a few characters have small cameos between the three. Dragonfall and Hong Kong are both excellent, but Dragonfall is cheaper. Returns is okay, but not as good.\

No. Homecoming is certainly not worth $10. It's a terrible game.
 
It's a shame that Tales of Zestiria is only 33% off. I would have picked it up for $24.99, but I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger at $33.49. I hear that 60fps fix is pretty legit.

It'll probably go on sale again when Symphonia drops next year, I guess I can wait.

Trails is really fun and lighthearted, but deceptively deeper than it looks. It's also quite a beast, clocking in at ~30-60 hours depending on how much of the side content you find and decide to finish. Undertale is a more manageable play if you're strapped for time, but is also a quite different beast from the other two games you listed. It's much more socially aware title, with a heavier focus on dialog than combat.

I loved both, but it really depends on what you're after when you play.

Homecoming is... not very good. There's one segment where the team appeared to understand the series and applied their own spin on it, but it's otherwise very forgettable. The drama, characters, locales and combat are all stiff, with none of the series' trademark attention to detail, lore, or masterfully executed horror elements to make up for it.
