Can anyone tell me (aside from Jar Jar, and the prominent use of CGI) what is wrong with the prequels? I'm rewatching the OT at the moment and noting down my thoughts.

I like the wording of it. "You imagine an ocean. I see the island." Functions as both foreshadowing of Luke's location and Rey's awareness of the Force, and as a metaphor for their paths: Rey's expanding possibilities and Kylo's increasing isolation.

Shit That's beautifully written Ghaleon, didn't pick up on that.

Well if they are anything like our Galaxy, they just haven't discovered Pro-V vitamins use for hair 30 years ago.

You jest, but Jar Jar actually eliminated quite a lot of droids by "accident". How many enemies did Finn eliminate?

Can't believe I'm doing this....

Not joking. For Jar Jar killing is as easy as breathing. Notice that he never "accidentally" kills the wrong people?

Now you've gone and done it.

Have you seen them before, by the way? I'm not sure if your question is from the perspective of someone who hasn't seen them and wants to know why so many people dislike them, or if you've seen them and enjoy them and are confused as to other people's feelings about them.

FYI I enjoy the prequels even despite their flaws.

I so badly want to see the movie again but every showing is sold out. I'm in a small town so there's not a bunch of showings to choose from, but never seen such a craze for tickets before..

Red Letter Media has reviews on youtube for all 3 prequels where he breaks down pretty much everything that is wrong with them... I've honestly watched those reviews more times than the actual prequels.

The short answer? Everything. Everything is wrong with the prequels.

I was planning on seeing it imax 3d tomorrow. Went online earlier today to buy tickets, already sold out of all showings tomorrow. Oh shit. Guess I've got to wait for the weekend.

There were like 50+ people already lined up 40 minutes before the doors were open, and the place filled up in about 10 minutes after that. Pretty ridiculous for a 1:20pm showing on a Tuesday. Movie is a juggernaut.

I think the fact that Disney owns this franchise and has officially annualized it (yeah I know episode-spinoff-episode-etc.) makes me extremely cynical about where the future films are going. Especially since this one felt like A New Hope 2.0 for a majority of the film. If they manage to make a film that goes beyond being a decently entertaining winter film I'll be surprised.

I had Monday off and went to an 11:20AM screening. It was 2/3 full but quiet as a tomb.
Then again I saw SPECTRE more than three weeks after it opened and that was just as full on a weekday.

Kylo Ren isn't strong with the force. The dark side is meant to be more powerful. Yet he got his ass beat by two amateurs with no jedi training. He's clearly no Darth Vader. Yes he got shot earlier but they don't how the injury affected his movement during the actual fight scene. He appears to be really going at it full speed, swinging with both both arms hard, no sign of him being slowed down by injury.
Did you miss when he stopped fighting and punched his wound?

I'm thinking again about Rey = Shmi Skywalker theory and SW will be from 1 to 9 a time loop story...

That can explain why disney eraze the star wars universe in 2012 !

I haven't seen them for quite a while. Only thing that stood out was Annakin's poor acting, but I loved how Padame's death and other events led him to the dark side. It was relatable. You understood his feelings.

I'm almost half way through Empire Strikes Back now, and aside from Yoda, I'm getting bored. If people love this, and seemingly TFA, I'm trying to imagine how bad Episode 1, 2 and 3 must have been.

Did anyone else find the solar powered Death Star (that charges in less than an hour), to be completely absurd. Did J.J. get a ten year old to come up with that very clever idea for him?

I feel like it would have been cool if it simply swallowed stars and killed everything in the system that way. Everything would freeze in minutes, the orbits would destabilize and the planets would drift frozen forever.

The Force has time travel now?

Think about it... Rey = Shmi , she used all of her Force to make born Anakin that's why Qui-gon only feel Force in him.
That explain why disney eraze the expand universe
That explain why the Anakin lightsaber choose her...
That explain why she had so much Force...

THREE TRILOGY
One for Anakin
One for her mother
One for his son...

Hmm, when i was a little child i remember liking the Phantom Menace, maybe i should give it a rewatch, only saw it once or twice. that race was too long though

Yeah, pretty much this right here. If anything, The Force Awakens even further provides reason why the prequels are just bad movies in general. No part of the "story" or anything the characters do in Phantom Menace makes any kind of sense at all.

Not sure, if already posted

J.J. ABRAMS recently read the script for Episode VIII of Star Wars. And he had a reaction to it that his lifelong friend, “The Force Awakens” actor Greg Grunberg, had not ever heard from the director over their decades together in the industry.

“He read it and said something he never, ever says,” Grunberg, who plays pilot Snap Wexley in the new film, tells The Post’s Comic Riffs. “He said: ‘It’s so good, I wish I were making it.’

“He may have said something one time on ‘Lost,’ with Damon [Lindelof, the co-creator],” continues Grunberg, whose credits on Abrams series include “Lost” and “Felicity,” “but I never hear him express regret like that.”
