7 things Hillary Clinton has in common with your abuela

Today, Hillary Clinton's campaign team put out a list titled, "7 Ways Hillary Clinton Is Just Like Your Abuela." And unsurprisingly, people on Twitter aren't too happy about it.
Shortly after, #NotMyAbuela began trending on Twitter and users called the move "Hispandering" from Clinton's team.
The list includes gifs after points like "She reacts this way when people le faltan el respeto..." or "She reacts this way when people disrespect her..."

Some Twitter users called the list "out of touch," saying it wasn't reflective of the Latino experience.
"My Abuela came to this country with a 6th grade education and worked in favorites for 50 something cents to a Man's dollar," one person tweeted.
Here are more reasons Twitter users say Hillary Clinton is #NotMyAbuela.

@RiaRiaKerrigan
My gma learned English as a second language & became a school teacher- dedicating her life to teaching tolerance and equality. #NotMyAbuela

ways Hillary Clinton is like my abuela:
She is apparently very much out of touch with culture.

@RoqPlanas
Hillary Clinton is running for president. No Latina is running for president. Ergo, Clinton is unlike your abuela. http://bit.ly/1keXx2y

When pandering goes wrong.

Actually this is just awful all around. Why is her site a buzzfeed clone?

Relax, Hillary. Just wait on Julian Castro. Don't try to do this yourself. People like to be pandered to but with a little subtlety.

She keeps writing in Spanish on her Twitter account and I was really getting annoyed. Not because I couldn't understand it because I mostly could but because it felt like pandering. This one really takes the cake, though.

It seems rather silly to pander to a constituency your candidate currently has on lockdown, and at the same time try to play to the whole "viral internet" thing which is something I don't think any Presidential campaign has ever been able to deliberately do by design.
Jesus, portraying her as a grandmother type figure is really weird.
They're trying to sell her as multiple things which is... not needed and not working. Frankly her campaign would do best to spend the winter in Tahiti and not do any work until next Spring when the GOP sorts its shit out.

On one hand, Hillary distancing herself from the fact that she's a woman running for President was an early criticism of her campaign when she was running for the nomination in '08. So not surprised she's doing stuff like this.

On the other hand...lol

Hillary, either stop with the Twitter stuff or get an entirely new Twitter team. You and your people aren't good at it.

Why can't Clinton just copy Merkel's no nonsense persona?

This abuela thing is unbecoming of a candidate looking for Presidency...

Yeah this was a bad move by her campaign. Trying too hard and it's hilarious how hispandering is perfect to describe this.

The only campaign any good at it (in terms of generating hype and media attention) is Trump, who, ironically, does actually say the things himself instead of hiring a PR team to run the account. Not saying that he's a model candidate or anything, but I do wish more people wouldn't mind being that direct when running for office.
Worth it for the word Hispandering though.
How how this not already been used more? This can and should get a lot of mileage. Twitter doesn't have a very big search backlog for the term, with the first organized use appearing to be at a GOP debate on Jan 26 2012. The urban dictionary definition goes back to 2008 but doesn't have many votes which implies no one has been looking for it.

Politicians, remember the young people on your campaign team were all out of touch fucking weirdoes in college.

1. She's an old woman.
2. I don't fucking know, make it into a Buzzfeed article.

If Hillary is like my abuela, that must make Bernie that crazy old uncle that everybody walks away from once he starts ranting about some random thing or other.

And yeah, Hillary's social media team kind of sucks at their job. As long as her campaign's ground game in Iowa, New Hampshire and beyond are up to the task, then I don't really care.
