Damn, this is exactly what I was worrying about

No need to worry. You won't find an RPG with better combat than this one. The game is immensely rewarding, especially on tactician mode when you finally figure out how to beat that one boss. There's nothing quite like it, really.

The writing and story are a bit goofy yes but they are not really bad per se, good enough to support the amazing combat system. Unlike Pillars of Eternity, this is not really a story-heavy game that relies on writing and plot to keep things interesting. Fun can be had at all times, exploring different builds is really great and you are given a huge amount of freedom to pursue your goals.

Returned from the sale.

The list of games is up by 52.

And the wishlist is up by more than 100 as well.

Not sure what happened. :-)

There's nothing like this build into the Enhanced Edition? I couldn't imagine playing CIV without it after some time.

He's overexaggerating. It's not the fastest thing in the world, but more than acceptable.

LIke, and I mean no offense to Tenebrous, but I'd wager 90 percent of the complaints on this forum about the combat speed are just from him.

Just one question: How easy is it to just jump in in terms of character builds? I'm a bit tired of having the feeling to min-max everything. How's the difficulty?

I'd say it's probably more than that, so no offense taken! I've seen no-one else complain about it, honestly... I just can't remember the last turn based game I've played without any sort of quick combat/movement feature, be it a JRPG, 4X, or CRPG.

Perhaps it's just me being impatient (that's exactly what it is, honestly), but at this point, I just want the killer without the filler. It's like going through Final Fantasy VIII's summoning animations all over again.

I'm having a pretty unlucky sale... Keep buying games that look awesome to me and then end up annoying. Latest one, Assault Android Cactus. Why are the boss fights 8 hour long bullet sponge fests? SO BORING

Having to hold RT to shoot when using a controller also sucks and makes no sense. Just gives you wrist strain, because you're literally just holding RT from the moment you launch until you quit, while adding nothing to the experience.

I did like the character Starch. Blue rings! Pretty wings!

I think this sale is fine. The number of games on my wish list at an attractive price far outweighs the time I'd have to play them before the next sale. That's a good position to be in. I wouldn't give up refunds for dailies. In fact, I'm going to use a refund later today as I bought The Swindle yesterday morning and noticed it's slightly cheaper on (Canadian) PSN. I'd rather play that on my morning commute.

Currently trying to decide between Sunless Sea and Shadowrun: Hong Kong. I love Fallen London and Dragonfall, so I'm sure there's no wrong answer. There's a couple other games I'd like to get - Trails SC, Kero Blaster - but the discount is so small that I can just wait until I can definitely commit to playing them.

Cave Story, Kero Blaster.
Cave Story is a classic, but I spaced on Kero Blaster, though may wait until its a bit cheaper, but wishlisted.

Unholy Heights sounds right up your alley. It's only $2, and has a Very Positive rating on Steam.

I do own it but shouod play it. The music in the trailer is what had sold me on it in the past.

not sure what you've played but reccetear and/or chantelise? both are fantastic games and have lolis which is a japan thing if you're into that

lovely planet is also very much japanese, megacheap and is a blast to play, at least until the later stages, then it's just grueling if you're a baddie like me

Chantelise and Reccetear are good recommendations I'd push on others, but ha e played myself.

Lovely Planet I own, but d9 need to play more extensively than I have.

You can purchase This Starry Midnight We Make and support SpaceDrake/Carpe Fulgar for help bringing TitS:SC to us.

Oh my, sold on this one

I got Aces Wild for a couple bucks yesterday

that looks like a hoot

I've actually played Aces Wild, it is fun though challenging.

Happy you mentioned UmiharaKawase, I have Sayanora and the original, but was meaning to pick up the second one since the licensing on those games as is happens to be uncertain since the developers were dissolved recently by their oarent company.

Publisher was dissolved. The developer still exists.

You have three difficulty levels: explorer, classic and tactician. Classic is the difficulty from the vanilla game which became a little too easy after a while imo. Tactician on the other hand is more punishing. It's not extreme min-maxing but it does require you to know what you are doing.

Two thirds of my discovery queue is anime/JPRG/visual novel games. Zero interest in those genres but I guess I'm discovering what I already knew, queue after queue. Steam doesn't learn at all.

Carpe Fulgur and Playsm actually released two CAVYHOUSE games on steam this year, I've played both, so here are my thoughts

I must say in advance that I really really like CAVYHOUSE style, it's a big part why I like those games so much, so it can be different for you, now when that's done, onto games

if you want very hard, very strange game, which is very slow, where you think a lot and plan a lot and try things a lot and advance slowly, this game is for you.

Now if you want just chill and and grow some organs, while playing very strange and relaxing game, this is a game for you

I also strongly second notion that buying anything PLAYISM published is good idea, it haven't failed me even once, here are those good games:

This one might look cute but managing your resources including time and efficiently extinguishing fires takes some practice and the whole thing is pretty unique.

Thanks for the reminder on this one.

Probably a dumb question but I'm a little confused how this year's sale works. So are there no dailys or flashes just everything is already on its deepest discount?

Oi that's a GotY contender mate, don't skip on kero Blaster it's current sale price is well worth it
You play as a FROG whose job is to BLOW STUFF UP using a LASER GUN and FLAME THROWER, and you do this while wearing a JACKET and soaring through the sky using a JET PACK.
How can that combo not be enough for you to drop cash on such a game man?
HOW?!
It even has a great story that the PLAYER figures out as it progresses, come on I thought you liked that ish mon.
