Rebel Galaxy is a great intro to space games. Controls a lot like playing AC Black Flag's ship combat.

I always feel overwhelmed by a lot of spaceship style games and I found it very easy to get into.

I've been on a retro shopping binge the last couple of days, I just can't justify spending even more money on steam sales.

Or can I?

i kinda want to play that one since it feels like it has the most rpg elements and maybe doesn't require a flight stick to be enjoyable?

not sure if i'll like it tho

Rebel Galaxy is 2D. It's like sailing in space.

And thanks for the rundown on Floris.

That isn't really the point. It doesn't matter if the game is already available on PC or not, it matters what they win from optimizing it. Making it run well and fixing graphical glitches benefit the emulator as a whole and make it so it's more accurate in general.

Could have chosen a game that wasn't already completely redundant to base their work on.

Frequently with emulators they base fixes on a per-game basis, so choosing Bully instead of a 360 exclusive could be a waste of time as it will be less desirable for programmers and beta testers.

Obviously we don't know the specific situation, Bully could be a common API or easy to run without issue on the base emulator.

In retrospect, I should have formed it as a question instead of a statement. Why did they choose Bully?

I wish companies would actually stick to a naming scheme in Steam:

Glad I'm not too obsessed with that stuff, but some of it reminds me of that Monk DVD set:

I played Stick of Truth on PS3, and now that it's on sale on PC I'm thinking of getting it. Does it hold up for a second playthrough?

I was just about to play it again for the second time. I think it depends on how good your memory is. Mine is shit, so I can't remember the jokes, so I think I will be fine playing it again

Is L.A. Noire worth getting for $4.99?

I'd say it was. I enjoyed it at the time. Even if you get bored half way through, at that price it would still be worth it.

World War One FPS Verdun celebrates Christmas with snowball-throwing truce

War. What is it good for? Football and snowball fights on Christmas day, if the first World War is anything to go by. For their end of year celebratory event, M2H and Blackmill have renacted the legendary unofficial ceasefires of 1914's western front in the form of a new winter-themed map, minigames and, er, postcard sending in Verdun, their WW1 shooter.

I think my favourite part is how grumpy all the models look to have to be friends with oneanother. They were put here to fight, to kill, to defeat the evil forces of The Bad Guys, not make merry.

I think this is pretty cool. Something a bit different that's not only historically relevant (I'm more surprised with each passing day that it actually happened and then the war just continued) but entertaining. Not so sure on the postcard sending theme, I don't know if many postal services suddenly sprang up in the middle of the battlefield. Hopefully snowball throwing and football kicking operate similarly enough to shooting guns that it all works within the game's systems.

Like every other game under the sun, Verdun is currently on sale on Steam. 40% off means it's yours for £10.19 / €12.90 / $13.79.

Can anyone explain why the Fallout Classic Collection is 10€ whereas it's 2,49€ a piece for all three? I should have bought the collection in the autumn sale when it was 5€.

edit: or was that GMG with the 5€ collection? Can't remember.

I think I have a spare Fallout 1 or 2 for you, I'd be happy to gift it to you. Let's see if I can find it.

I already own Arx Fatalis on disc, the only reason I was getting it on Steam was because I thought it would run much easier on new systems. Apparently, not so. I'll just go grab this great update instead, very many thanks to you for pointing this out.

Always nice to inform someone of the definitive way of playing Arx :)

I think I will skip out on SOMA this time around, much as I want to play it. Got other games to finish, and it will be cheaper no doubt in the future. I mean, just 25% seems a bit meh, when games like The Witcher III and Pillars of Eternity- also released this year- have massive discounts.

Gods, The Talos Principal is good. Nails what it's trying to do. Also: best menus. Also: so many options for PC users.

I'm thinking of getting Tabletop Simulator -- on paper at least, it sounds sooooo far up my alley. But I don't really have any kind of Steam friend group, so it'd be a game(suite?) that I'd use solo, and I'm reeeeally uncertain that it'll support that.

They didn't choose Bully at all, they're just testing commercial games and see what it boots. I'm just saying that whichever games they get running well, it's always a benefit. In the world of emulators there's no such thing as a "waste" even if you're running games already available on PC. Especially on early days when there's several shader and 3D rendering issues.

Lat night I almost finished
Lady Boyle
's mission. I have to say, Dishonored is the best first-person stealth game I've played so far. Level design is truly open for varied mission approaches. Coupled with the powers that also are diversely suited for different playstyles and you can see that the game is very well designed and thought-through. I see that not as often as one would think.

I do recommend the game wholeheartedly to anyone interested in stealth games. Yes, it may not have the high detailed textures or models but the great artstyle makes up very well up for that. More so than high polycount would I dare say.
First CEMU, then RPCS3 and now Xenia. All of them with exhilarating great progress.

If Master Chief Collection ain't coming to PC officially, we'll make them come, haha ;)

Now that Grim Dawn is "content complete" I think it's time I dove in. I guess they're planning on being out of Early Access in February after one more update to add overall polish.

Day two, Steam works very good now. Got my next three cards. "Encouraging" (
baiting
) to use the discovery queue is Valve's way of putting us to more coverage of games I take. Personally prefer many highlighted games on the frontpage since I only skim quickly through the queue but oh well. Valve does change things very frequent, so who knows, maybe the next method of sale I'll enjoy more.
Hey, remember when I said that I had a (sadistic) surprise yesterday? Well, here it is.

Here's a link to the Google Doc with all the info you'll need (kinda).
Cool and unique trivia but man, been over 10 years since I last got taught math. Long lost knowledge sadly. Shame and I wish I'll be doing something that needs math as it is a really cool subject that should be kept fresh in the mind all your life.
Hm, an eetsy-beetsy cheaper than GMG even. Those pre-order boni which will vanish after launch forever really do make me think hard.
Here's another indie gem to consider: Deadnaut ($4.99)[...]
I just want to note, I enjoy your posts like these, shining a spotlight on stuff which goes overlooked. Please continue, I'm looking forward to them.
