It was perfect though. We did get to see their first meeting, though without spoken words which I'm guessing is what you wanted. I'm fine with it beginning well into their relationship, a lot can be implied. And not showing Luke would've pissed everyone off and there'd be another year and a half of wondering if Luke's gonna be eeeeevil

Yeah, I guess it's not the worst. I guess I'm just being sentimental about that moment and wanting to see more of it.

More than anything I want to get into the meat of the story, so picking up a bit later works fine too.

I can't wait to see it for the second time in two days, I feel like I'll get a better understanding of both Rey and Finn and I think that is important. I hope my family loves it. It's honestly the first movie I've loved in years.

We don't. A dramatic scene like that would be a strand opener, anyway.

It probably opens with her training. (Dare I hope for a montage?)

The Cruel Tutelage of Pai Rey.

She'll have Luke carrying buckets of water up stairs and eating nothing but a small bowl of rice a day.

the best non-rocky training scene tbh. so good. that music and monologue work especially.

that's the dream for a star wars training sequence for me, shot in some nice scenery in ireland with hamill narrating or something.

a sparring duel between Rey and Luke would also be dope if Hamill could do it

Luke has always been my favorite character of the series, even if that is a quote unpopular group of the movies. I hope he has a role as dignified and as iconic as Yoda. Hope he gets a good analysis as a character, I want to know what led him to this desolate land.

btw, what are the chances of there being a Yoda cameo despite how insanely fan-pandering that's gonna be?

Out of curiosity, what's the fandom's feelings toward Lando over the years? He's rarely ever mentioned anywhere - even in popular media - so just genuinely curious.

I've always liked the character, and having rewatched the OT recently, his actual screen time is up there - if not greater than - all of the other big secondary characters considering how focused and quick paced most of the movies are.

Rey is Yoda and Padme's kid who was frozen in carbonite secretly at the end of RotS for her own protection, that's truly what Yoda meant when he said there is another in the OT but they never needed to thaw her out and then Yoda died and then Ghost Yoda told Luke and Luke thawed her out and was about to train her when Ben Solo got angsty and killed everyone so Luke dropped Rey off on random planet before piecing the fuck out, hence why we hear Yoda's voice in Rey's flashabck, and her memory is fucked because she was frozen in carbonite for 50 fucking years.

How else was he going to escape?

I get that, but he wasn't like crying or hesitant about it. Poe didn't have to go like COME ON MAN, JUST SHOOT'EM! KILL THESE PEOPLE YOU GREW UP WITH! Finn was kinda happy about it. He didn't even reflect on it, I don't think he ever did.

It's just odd to me, that's all.

Behold, the greatest fan theory run-on sentence in the world. That being said I believe it has its merits.

Didn't all Stormtroopers die some years after Ep III due to them aging faster than normal humans or something?

Alec Guiness lol, his "fight" in Ep IV is one of the low points of the series. A series that features Jar Jar and dialog from the mind of a 12 year old girl.

Lando is fucking awesome.

What was wrong with it? Or is it sarcasm, sorry its early and i may need coffee

It conveyed exactly what it needed to. The blows felt like they had weight. There was a tension to it.

It wasn't a 40minute speedrun with flips and spinning through a lavaworld but it really didn't need to be. ANH has lows but I'm bemused to see the Guiness fight cited as one.

Ok cool.

So Rey is Luke's daughter right? I mean I just assumed after the reaction she had picking up Luke's saber.

There are some signs of it, but a bunch of us think it's a red herring and those signs can also mean something entirely different. Also, it'd be an odd decision to make her the daughter since the whole related-twists are getting silly.

and also luke gets wasteman father of the year award for abandoning her to scavenge for her food too.

i think if she is a skywalker then he didn't know he had a kid.

I'm so confident that she isn't his daughter that you can tag me Titty Sprinkles come May 26 2017 if she is

lol

Rey's vision flood upon touching the saber is indeed peculiar. Whether or not it means anything regarding her lineage is debatable.

It'd be weird for that sabre to have that effect if she's not a Skywalker unless it's kind of a prophecy thing and she is to become the adopted daughter.

Well, it's also the first time she comes into contact with an object so strongly associated with the Force. Anything is possible and they deliberately did this so we can speculate this very thing.

Omg can Rey beat down Ren in a verbal fight about whose Daddy is worse

Ren: My dad was sarcastic and busy that's why I'm a whiny shit.

Rey: Fuck you my Dad dropped me of on a desert planet to fend for myself at age 7 but you don't see me destroying consoles and killing villages

If she's strong with the force (and that seems to be the case), I could see that being enough. The crystal in the saber should have its own presence in the force and obviously that saber has seen some shit.
