im new to Steam and the trading card stuff.

should i sell cards or use for gems? What do you get in game booster packs?

You can sell cards to get money in your steam wallet, which if you sell enough can enable you to buy more games. If you use them for gems, you can sell gems when they're 1000 per sack iirc or use gems to create boosters.

Boosters give you 3 new cards of the game they are of, along with a rare chance of receiving a foil card. Boosters are sold for more than what a card sells for individually.

IIRC the Autumn Sale's discount was much better, especially for gamers that owned episode 1.

I probably should have grabbed it then, but I had just received episode 1 via the humble Capcom bundle, and didn't want to throw down the extra cash just yet.

Sell the cards. It might be worth it to craft some badges too, try and get to Steam level 10 to begin with -you'll get a 20% booster drop rate increase- and you need at least lvl 5 to get holiday cards.
