After Rogue One it'd be nice if we could have a minority lead for a change. Male or female, it doesn't matter.
We might get one with the Boba Fett film, although you never know with Hollywood.

Vader even states in RotJ "you have constructed your own lightsaber - the emperor was right about you, you are indeed powerful"
Finn and Rey are co-leads. Beyond that, you won't get one until the Boba Fett movie.wouldn't be against this

Wait what? Why the fuck is Boba Fett getting a film?

Because he's a fan favorite, looks cool and bounty hunting would be a cool angle for a Star Wars film.
He drives most of that story. It's not like Han Solo in ANH where he's just along for the ride save for a choice at the end, or Leia who doesn't actively influence most of the plot save for putting the plans in R2.FInn is a lead.
Rey is the lead.

You're saying the plucky black space janitor who has heart (tm) isn't enough?
They way Finn fell into the comedic sidekick and space janitor (ugh) let me down this movie. I do hope there is more to him in the next few.
The dude wasn't revealed to have done janitorial work until the last 20 minutes. And that's after he's made the choice to face the First Order. You're saying the plucky black space janitor who has heart (tm) isn't enough?

Finn's arc is to stop running and to instead find a reason to fight back and confront the First Order.

A lightsaber is a metal tube with a button on it.Right I want to steer a question to you guys about using a lightsaber and if it has any significance about being force sensitive? We see Finn use a saber but whether or not he is force sensitive has yet to be confirmed. However, as stated hundreds of posts back someone said anyone can use a saber, because Han Solo used one in esb.
However, i'm not convinced Han solo is not force sensitive I suppose. Even just a little bit. His apathy towards the force is pretty prevalent early on and even after acceptance he is much happier sticking to what he knows. He had a son who is force sensitive, but it could be argued that is because of Leia. However, Leia has not shown much in the way of force sensitivity other than perception (when she knows luke made it off the death star in rotj and when han dies in tfa). Kylo Ren at his best is shown to possess powers greater than vader, and this is wild speculation, but that might have something to do with being born to two force sensitive people. Just like is plausible that Rey being born to a kenobi and skywalker made her more gifted than her parents (which I feel is being conveyed through her character).
Thoughts?
If they're doing a Boba Fett movie, the dude has to live up to the voice and look of Temuera Morrison. That man IS the Fett to be like.
Seriously. If you want someone who's just made to look and act cool the whole time but has a nothing character check out Mace Windu. How is having the most satisfying arc in the whole movie not enough?
No way an ordinary human can dodge blaster fire like Han did when Greedo took the first shot in the cantina in Ep4. That was EPIC! Finn doesn't count?
Because he takes a back seat to Rey or something?
Tough crowd.
He also probably practiced with his mop.A lightsaber is a metal tube with a button on it.
Finn probably had some level of military weapons training to help him survive long enough.
No, Finn doesn't count.
He is a lead. Not the lead.
Can you not tell the difference?

No offense but i'm pretty apathetic to the argument of rey being white a bad thing. Maybe i'm miss interpreting your point on the subject. She comes from skywalker, kenobi or both, just making her a different ethnicity to look good when her lineage is white doesn't make sense for me. I understand wanting to have different minorities represent larger roles in movies, but doing it for the sake of it if it breaks character is pointless, for me. I think pushing it she could be halfcast though.
But personally I like Rey as she is.
so how big of an asshole is c 3po for bitch slapping his best friend like 3 seconds after he comes out a coma?

He's always doing that. He's always kicking and slapping R2. What I want to know is would R2 even feel it.so how big of an asshole is c 3po for bitch slapping his best friend like 3 seconds after he comes out a coma?

He was making the comment that we should have a minority lead in a side story AFTER Rogue One. I don't think he has a problem with Rey as lead.
Finn actually seems perfect for that, he could easily support his own movie. It'd be better to have a brand new character though.

That's an academic point. Yeah, going from scared storm-janitor to facing Kylo and ending in a coma is an arc. But people don't just watch movies to identify particular arcs. I suppose that more "educated" viewers do. And it's definitely interesting to discuss that type of thing after the fact. But that doesn't necessarily guarantee the best or most relatable character.
Han was probably the most well liked character. He still wasn't the main. That was Luke.
You're pretty much saying we should be satisfied with what we got of Finn. Again Love Finns character and can't see where they go. But the marketing sure made him out to be something he wasn't.
People going in with the expectation of said character most likely came out disappointed
Of course Rey being white is not a bad thing. I love Rey, she's a great protagonist. Not without her problems, but I love her all the same, and her ethnicity is not and has never been a problem for me.
I am, however, apprehensive of Kennedy's stewardship of the franchise. She is a feminist, but as I have come to expect of mainstream feminists, she is now two for two in following the stereotype in casting white female leads and then building a ethnically diverse cast around her.
Minorities have been playing second fiddle to white men for generations. Now they are poised to do the same for white women.
If you have an eye for it you'll see it.
For now, I am willing to accept that JJ and Kennedy are committed to what they claim is their goal, to make sure Star Wars reflects the world of today.
But to that end I expect some proof soon.
I want a black male lead that isn't second in importance to anyone and isn't a stereotype; Finn is a big step in this regard. I want to see a black woman that isn't sassy. I also want a Hispanic lead that doesn't have to be a tough chick or a man with a checkered criminal past. I want a female Asian lead that isn't fetishised because she's a woman and a male that isn't kung-fu master or computer geek.
We won't see all of these. We'll be lucky to get just one. But I want to see it soon rather than later.
You're saying Snoke is Luke's clone made from the hand he lost in ESB?Luke ends with ke
Snoke ends with ke
Just sayin'
We'll see who is chosen out of the reported Gina Rodriguez, Tatiana Maslany and Olivia Cooke for the next Star Wars film.
Mark Hamill looked pretty badass in TFA. hope he has a lot more to do in the next Ep.

Really? I thought he looked sad as fuck.He did but I feel they let that scene go on too long. He looked like a pissed off old man XD
