Yep I'm a couple hours in, and loving Downwell. Smart little game

Steam is still working, just not the homepage on browser for some reason. Everything else seems fine.

Steam Client, Community, inner workings, and even the main page in client, all are still functional.

Just when I decide to spend my budget Steam goes down! My luck. :/

Anyway, I'm on the fence about Dark Souls 2 Scholar ed., Lords of the Fallen and Cities Skylines (that's the good one right?).

DS2 has all the negative buzz around it... and thanks to various GDQs I've seen like 4 speedruns of the game so I know the main beats. And I don't really like the way it looks, but that's minor. And it's still 15€.
Lords of the Fallen looks like Dark Souls lite, but it looks fun and it had a good reception right IIRC.
Skylines looks great but fuck I have to study.

I could probably only buy one of these without going terribly overbudget, (which is 50€ i got for christmas).

What I'm buying for sure:

Pillars of Eternity (it's expensive but it's Obsidian too).
The Evil Within
Wolfenstein (I've heard great things)
D4

I'd like to throw in FFXIII or The Thanos Principle or Alien Isolation, or Ryse (this just to look at the tech... nah, I'm going to wait until it's cheaper).

Sucks that Dragon's Dogma doesn't have any kind of discount. :\ And Dinasty Warrior it's still 20 arrrgh.

Indiegamestand is offering a stackable 50% coupon on everything on their store.

The code is ADVENTCAL. I just bought Mini Metro for an amazingly low price of $4.50.

They also have Chroma Squad for $5, Elliot Quest for $3 and Evoland 2 for $5.

Steam has been down here as well (Southeast Asia), can't access the store... wanted to buy Dropsy earlier but kept getting connect errors.

Just now, I stopped playing Undertale and the save refuses to sync with the cloud, the Valve servers are probably toast.

Playing through DS2 arm and it feels pretty odd to me combat wise. It feels floaty? It seems worth the reduced price at least. As for the rest you have picked out I'd enjoyed every one is f those quite a bit aside from PoE which I haven't played.

You are all right in my book :)

I'd say that out of the 3 games you'd be better off buying Skylines. Lords of the Fallen is a pretty mediocre Souls clone, and it seems that you wouldn't enjoy DS2 that much.

Enjoy!
EDIT: I don't know if the key redeems special contents too, because on IGS the game is called like this and I reported the name copy/pasting it, but I saw there are files available to download in my game's page, so it's possible the key redeems only the base game.

Steam is dead, I can't get cards on my wife's account. Boo.

Been thinking about this for my iPad since I don't play on PC very much anymore.

Anything the PC version has besides control differences?
Not really besides the controls not being great. Playing the PC version is much closer more enjoyable but playing on my 6S is okay.

This is just me, but I would say that proper controls would make that game waaay more fun. But I also hate virtual controls.

Is Pillars of Eternity difficult to play for someone who has never really played a crpg?

I was watching some reviews on YouTube, and was a bit intimidated.

It was my first CRPG and while it may seem intimidating, playing it on easy and going through it very slowly helped me a lot getting better. Just ignore that bear cave at the beginning, better come back later :)

Evoland 2 for 5 bux ? Great deal. That's basically 75% off.

How about general gameplay mechanics? Pretty complex or easy to get the hang of?

Have you heard about DRAGON: THE GAME?

also check out COUGAR: THE GAME - http://store.steampowered.com/app/378580 - currently 85% off

Oh, Ozi.

A "hacker" group said they were going to DDoS steam today, so I assume that is what is happening.

They got tired of destroying Christmas for new xb1 and ps4 owners? :c

I agree with your choice buys so far. 100%. If you're intent is to avoid two of the same type I'd go for Talos Principle to round it off.

The mobile app has been sucking as of late. For the discovery queue you have to mash and press repeatedly on the screen to finish them.

Or maybe they realized that almost everyone gets Christmas Day off, and they want to play their games. They assumed correctly that the servers would get overloaded, and they can claim credit for doing nothing.

Dark Souls II could be disappointing in the wake of the original Dark Souls but is still high in the list of the best games I've ever played. It still had several moments where my jaw dropped, and still has really engaging combat and exciting discoveries.

Several times while playing through I just stopped and thought "This is truly the kind of feeling only a Souls game has ever made me feel." It's hard for me to not recommend such a great game.

People keep talking about the discovery queue being bad... but it isn't for me? The times I have been through them getting cards have shown me games I've been interested in. This last queue I did reminded me of Ys 6, Ys 1, Cinders, and this RPG that completely caught me off guard as I haven't heard or seen anything about it before, The Amber Throne. I'd like to link it but Steam seems to be down right now.

I don't even care if it is a RPG Maker game, as it looks amazing. LISA is a RPG maker game forgodssake.

The queue linked me to Grisaia and Higurashi, two VNs I actually want to get and are on my wishlist.

I'll post a GET list once I can actually access Steam.

It mostly links me to rogue-likes/lites, dungeon crawlers, JRPGs, VNs and earthbound inspired titles.

I'm not really big on those. I can't say it always fails, but I can tell you I've added maybe 3 titles to my wishlist through the 6 queues I went through for cards so far. Maybe it fleshes out the more you do them, because I hardly ever bothered before. I just wish you could auto-eliminate certain genres, but it'll never happen.
