So my neighbour brought up the idea that Rey is a Kenobi which was not a thought that crossed my mind (i guessed she was either Kylo's sister or cousin). People are giving a lot of weight to the Obi voices during that flashback, eh?

They are, but they shouldn't. Luke and Yoda's voices are in there as well - confirmed by JJ.

just watched it for the second time and ...

I liked it even more!

If there is one thing where I could see fan-feedback being taken into consideration I would imagine it is Poe Dameron's role. I can't imagine they will give him as little screentime again.

He is just too damn good. He and Finn have great chemistry and I can't wait to also see him interact with Rey.

Watching ROTS right now and how did the prequels not tarnish the SW brand forever? I mean these movies are so fucking bad. Holy shit

They should have Poe survive random shit every film and then he just turns up later on like everything is cool.

Yeah, that would actually be pretty cool. If he magically gets from tight spots make him do it on a regular basis and be like "that's how I roll, boys."

He should be the Kenny of Star Wars

He's actually dying in every movie but he is reborn because he is an ancient immortal jedi god who's spirit had been trapped in a tree the past millennium. (read the comic) He decided when he gained this new form he would use his force powers not to be a warrior like his ancient past life, but to fly, like the falcons he gave home to in his branches, and so he is the greatest pilot in the galaxy, using his force powers to do insane stunts like the two we see in the film.

Finally saw it, it was amazing. Pretty much a remake of the original film but still very awesome. Love the new leads and can't wait for more.

Poe should take the role of Finn's mentor / friend in the next movie, teaching him the ins and outs of being a Resistance fighter. The two of them and BB-8 can get in a bunch of wacky adventures while Rey and Luke are off training. Think a force-less version of Obi-Wan and Anakin's supposed relationship that is never is actually shown in the prequels.

They had a more convincing friendship within two minutes than was established over two prequel movies.

The original trilogy is just that important to society. No matter how bad the PT was, it couldn't ruin the love of the OT.

And yes, anyone who even remotely thinks the PT is good is crazy to me, they are so f'ing bad. Any other franchise would have been ruined beyond repair due to that shit.

I was thinking more like Sargent Johnson from Halo. How did you survive that?! "It's classified."

Wat

I missed this new sun creation

Is that a thing?

More like moving a sun over. When the base goes up at the end its less an explosion and more the sun it compressed blooming back out.

Yeah, that was a nice new twist.

Also, this.

Enjoyed the film, but I have a question that I'm sure has already been asked:

Why can't Abrams figure out that planets are actually quite far from each other and can't be seen exploding in real time?

Also, why was Akbar commanding a "fleet" of 12 X-wings from the ground?

Soundtrack left a lot to be desired. The Maestro has had a nice run, but time to retire. Hans Zimmer or Patrick Doyle for Episode VIII.
I agree it felt a bit weak in spots, but I really picked up on Rey's theme this most recent viewing, when we first meet here at the Star Destroyer and when she is traveling to Luke's island. Really beautiful piece. Also picked up more on aren't theme this time and think it is a good start. Will probably be more bombastic once he levels up next film.

so movie threads are exactly the same as game threads (I don't often visit movie threads), I mean the rampant hyperbole, ranging from the best to the worst and not caring how people are different and like different things.
For the record: I never wanted gaming industry to turn into movie industry

Prequels by now means are great in my eyes, and performance of Hayden Christensen was so bad, I hardly could believe they chose him as a lead actor (and still can't), but I don't see how these movies are so incredibly bad that they would have killed any other franchise. Not that OT is perfect or something.

Getting back to tFA, the hardest part will be waiting for other movies, I badly want to know what happens like right now.

If anyone is gonna rewatch, watch Han's facial expressions and general tone when he's with Rey.

Especially when Rey mentioned she's never seen so much green. Han seems like he's sorry they had to put her on Jakku.

So will Luke die next film or in the 9th.

I hope IX or not at all, VIII would be too obvious I think

nope, no way
leia has no fucking clue who she is
"oh yeah your friend's on starkiller, sorry but we're gonna have to let her here"

If you mean how could the Resistance see the destruction of Hosnian Prime, they're supposedly seeing some kind of hyperspace rip caused by it.

Rewatching RotJ reminds me how perfect Stoklasa's imitation of the emperor's voice is, to the point where if Disney ever brings the emperor back they could probably hire him to voice him lol.

edit: I like the ewoks. Better than if they had wookies. They look and act real unlike the wookie who just looks like a guy in a suit. My main problem with RotJ is that freeing Han from Jabba took 40 fucking minutes. It's way too long. First the droids come, then Leia, then Luke.

NO! I like Hans Zimmer's music well enough, but his style of music (and the way he produces it) is antithetical to the spirit of the music of Star Wars. Zimmer's music is engineered music (and often synthy). It's not a live orchestra playing together. Michael Giacchino is one of the few composers that utilizes a full live orchestra, he even records in analog (to the chagrin of some reviewers).

1. Astrophysics and Star Wars don't really mix. Also, every planet has like a single biome. (Desert, Ice, Swamp, etc.) That's the fantasy part of Star Wars.

2. The Resistance (I personally don't like that name) are a special ops group supported by the Republic. Its evidently made up of people who genuinely believe the First Order is a threat. Ackbar is there probably because he believes this just like Leia. The Republic had a token fleet so its possible Ackbar would prefer to be with Leia, or that he retired then decided to help the Resistance.

As for why he was commanding from the ground? They didn't seem to have any larger craft and all the command and control gear was on planet.

Interesting. I just realized the guy who is killed in the vision looks a lot like one of the Knights of Ren from the Visual Dictionary but I believe it was a red lightsaber that killed him.

Maybe Kylo saved Rey's life during the purge?

Yeah been saying that, Kylo kills this guy who looks a lot like a knight of Ren, and that guy looked like he was about to club someone to death. I think it might indicate the knights used to be part of whatever that group of people this guy was part of before they went evil. In the art book they are named "The seven light", could be former force church folks.

But Rey is not in that scene, she just sees it, it was confirmed it took place only a few years earlier/recently, not when she was a kid. I thought Kylo saved her too originally.
