he's given me waaaay more to like than williams has this century. but yeah he's not a good fit for star wars.

keep williams on it but make better use of his ost in the film and push for a more 'louder' sound hopefully.

i think hans would be good on one of these anthology films though. especially if you trick him into thinking nolan's making it.

Ok ok, I see everyone's point! Maybe Zimmer is not the best choice for a mainline Star Wars film. Just throwing names out there.

Williams will obviously do episode 8. Hopefully Rian Johnson will get a better score from him next time around.

Eh.....Finn as goofy as Jar jar? being upset that BB8 was CG in certain parts. And when he brings up the gender/ race thing. Nah. Dude kinda sounds like one of those #boycottTheForceAwakens people because it has a black guy.

Finn unessential to the plot? Come on now.
Amazing that you watch a 24 mins video.. that hear all the points in just 7 minutes....

For those who remember my rant thread from a few days ago, thanks. I got some clearity from your posts and immensely enjoyed the movie. It was pretty good and I look forward to see what the reboot universe does.

I also like how it has a lot of shoutouts to the old canon.

Do they ever explain how the resistance finds the location of Starkiller?
It's not stated out loud but I can't imagine being too hard to find, especially when the only thing they have to do is trace the trajectory of its beam to its point of origin. I don't think the First Order really ever thought it was needed to hide it, considering its defenses.

Yeah been saying that, Kylo kills this guy who looks a lot like a knight of Ren, and that guy looked like he was about to club someone to death. I think it might indicate the knights used to be part of whatever that group of people this guy was part of before they went evil. In the art book they are named "The seven light", could be former force church folks.

But Rey is not in that scene, she just sees it, it was confirmed it took place only a few years earlier/recently, not when she was a kid. I thought Kylo saved her too originally.

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm just wondering if the timing was changed in the vision. Because we see the seven standing over what looks like a body that was just killed by a red lightsaber.

That said, he looked a lot like the guy in the middle: http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums...1-4338-4244-A1A5-E90729AA52D6_zpsh4j9c7ur.png

edit: hm, maybe not.

that said, this guy has to be important, unless it's just saying "here's a guy they were killing to let you know a slaughter was going on".

I skipped around and based on those comments on the video I don't want or need to hear any more. If he doesn't like the character performances which was the strongest asset to this movie then I'm sure I won't agree with the rest of it.

I'm thinking that was Rey's parent dying in the vision, then since Kylo still hadn't cut all connections to the light he couldn't bring himself to kill a child so he left her on Jakku.

It looks to be full of bodies all around. The way I understand the scene is this guy tries to kill someone, but that person is saved by Kylo, and Kylo and his buddies had killed everyone there except whoever was saved.

Or the guy isn't even trying to kill anyone at all, and that's just unintended misdirection from how he moves when he gets killed by Kylo and it's just a scene showing the knights having finished killing a bunch of folks, but I really think he was about to kill someone and Kylo saves that person and it can't be Rey. Who knows, we'll find out about their origins and what happened there eventually.

Finn definitely liked Rey, so there's romance in this trilogy whether it's reciprocated or not.

There's also the possibility the actress that read with Boyega is playing another romantic interest in Ep VIII.

No it's confirmed this vision is of something that took place not that long ago, can't involve Rey.

edit: If Rey has no romantic interest because she must become a jedi and they can't have any that will be fucking dumb. Hope they drop this prequel stupidity.

I'm thinking they will. Not because of "LOL prequel nonsense". But because It's just fucking stupid and just showed the flaws of the Jedi order.

The part with young Rey watching the ship fly off involved Rey.

Maybe her parent left her on Jakku to save her because they were being chased by the Knights of Ren. Then the vision showed her why they never came back for her.

I said the part with the knights doesn't involve Rey.

Also did Hidalgo just confirm Plagueis isn't Snoke? https://twitter.com/pablohidalgo/status/680910577800065024?lang=en

Thing we can definitively say about Plagueis the Wise: he never upset a Wookiee.

:p

Did you make up your mind to agree with the guy you linked before you saw the film or did you find enough time between "just got out of watching this" to find his yourube video before coming here and posting your thoughts?

Lol I was just wondering too.

"I just came from the theater and it sucked."

"Why?"

"This video will explain."

.....ok

It's a planet. It's not going to be able to move.

It has to though. It ate a star the first time it fired.

Here's how it works: after it eats the first star it isn't bound in orbit anymore so it goes spinning off on a tangent. When it fired the canon, Newton's Third means the planet gets pushed away from the direction of the bolts. Between these two forces it can line itself up to fire and be pushed toward a new star to eat. Also hyperspace.

Or it just moves by Space Bullshit.

I think Starkiller charges from the sun it's near but it doesn't take all it's energy per shot. Did they say that anywhere in the film?

Also, why are are applying physics to Star Wars?

Nop, i watched the film first and later i searched a few reviews, the majority don't agree with my point of view, but this guy almost have same negative points that i have about the movie. (Except the cgi and performance). I was in blackout mode on everything about this movie before.

Yep.

It always amuses me when people complain about the portrayal of the Jedi in the prequels as a flaw of the movies and not considering it as an aspect of the storytelling.

The Jedi being rigid, dogmatic, aloof, general assholes IS central to their downfall as an order. The idea of showing that the Jedi's devotion to an arbitrary and unnecessary set of commandments over common sense and compassion isn't one of the problems with the prequels.

It could also use some of the energy from the consumed star for propulsion instead of firepower.

I'm pretty sure they say it drains the entire sun in the movie.

Even if it didn't, draining half the sun would have a profound effect on the planet's ecosystem and it would make everything darker, which it doesn't seem to.

I know it's technically a young adult book, but I really recommend reading Before the Awakening. It has stories revolving around Finn, Rey, and Poe from before TFA begins, and it actually provides some solid background. For instance
why Finn is decent with a lightsaber, why he decides to defect from the First Order, and how Rey knows so much about flying and fixing starships.

Indeed, Mace Windu being the worst hypocritical asshole of them all.

I really wish they delved in how powerful the Republic is, I mean you had Hux saying 'their precious navy' but we never got a glimpse of it. You'd suspect they'd send some capital class ships to attack Starkiller Base.
