Doctor Strange in EW's First Look

Nope.

Not even later incarnations. I mean, Beast gets on there at one point. Maybe T'Challa? Him and Bolt are probably the "best" out of them, but even then it's sketchy.

A classic shitshow

I just genuinely do not get these rights.

Even then he'd been planning that bomb since War of Kings. Even before that he's done scummy things in order to keep his people safe. Still, comparatively speaking he's the best out of all the OGs

Did you just imply that Beast, aka Hank McCoy, aka mr. "why don't I pull the young x-men from the past and bring them to the future I mean what could go wrong really?" isn't an asshole?

Oh god no. My mistake if otherwise. Beast is a huge shitbag. He actually gets angry at Scott for managing to unite mutantkind (though it's only seemingly for all of one speech).

Maybe I misread you then, my bad. Oh well, I'm always done to remember that amazing soul crushing shade Uatu throws at Hank. I should make a thread for people to best the best examples of that in comics, there are some great ones (like Cable's recent one to that new girl lol >_<)

Uatu calling Beast a piece of shit is one of the greatest things Bendis has ever written.

Man, the photos look so goddamn silly but the concept art looks rad. I'll wait for a trailer to pass judgment. Or hell, maybe I'll just wait for the movie. I'll show up for Swint, Mads, and the Batch hurling dusty lightning fireworks at each other in another dimension anyday

I'm more interested to see how they adapt the multitude of psychedelic, otherworldly landscapes that were made famous in Lee/Ditko's run of the character. The man had contributed some of his most surrealistic work to that series.

Wheres BP? before assholes started writing him Prof X wasn't an asshole, and BP and Namor knew enough not to shoot hulk off planet and just leave him alone.
But power corrupts! Let me show you in this new, amazing storyline bringing out a darker, never before seen to this beloved character!
And then they call it "depth" and "mature".
As for super-hero comics, I have my own canon for some parts that excludes shit writing. Used to be a stickler for canon. Not anymore.

Really hope isn't a shitty one-and-done villain. Really, really hope.

I guess McAdams is the Pepper Potts to Cumberbatch's Tony Stark.

that would be a real waste of Mads Mikkelsen

Marvel's pulling in some real talent now. What's next, Daniel Day Lewis in a damn superhero movie? Then again, they already got Fassbender (well, not Marvel)

What is happening in the concept art of him in a hospital bed with his hands being looked at? Did they heal miraculously? I don't know anything about this character or his powers.

He suffers irreversible nerve damage in his hands in an accident. That's likely the scene where the doctors tell him he's done as a surgeon. He gains his magic abilities when he goes looking for a way to repair his hands in far away lands. That's the nuts and bolts of his origin story.

Strange was a famous surgeon, but also a hard partying playboy. He gets into a car accident that fucks up his hands to the point he can no longer hold a scalpel. Dude tries everything to heal his hands which leads him to going to Tibet and finding the Ancient One to heal him. But instead he learns magic. The reason he use to wear those big yellow gloves was his hands looked like Deadpool's face.

So his hands look like the inside of someone's asshole?

Thanks for the explanation all, this seems cool. Although I agree the cape has a bit too many details in/on the fabric, especially compared to what I see from the comic designs.

Kevin Feige discusses Doctor Strange's powers.

The most interesting part:

Strange is also helped by an amulet known as The Eye of Agamotto. “The Cloak of Levitation [and] the Eye of Agamotto are his two signature pieces,” says Feige. “In this film, the Eye is a very important relic that can be quite dangerous if used in the wrong hands, because it has the ability to do any number of things, the most dangerous of which is, it can sort of manipulate probabilities. Which is also another way of saying, ‘screw around with time’ — which is part of our story.”

The Eye of Agamotto is the Time Stone confirmed.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we see the Eye in Asgard in Thor? I remember the Infinity Gauntlet being there.

There's a quote from somebody who was asked about the Infinity Gantlet I think around the time Guardians came out and they hinted the glove in the vault may not be legit. I'll see if I can find it.

EDIT: Found it:
Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige recently clarified that Thanos’ gauntlet is not the same one on Asgard. Meaning: the Marvel Cinematic Universe has two Infinity Gauntlets. As Feige put it:

“There are two different gloves," he told CinemaBlend. "That was not Odin’s vault that you see at the end.” [of Age of Ultron]

I hope so too... but this is Strange's first outing... they need someone, pardon the wrestling term, to put over Strange and that is Marvel's MO. Why change what works for them?

They were also really smart to not kill off Red Skull, because he's one of the top villains in Marvel.

But Feige made it clear that they were done with origin stories, and wanted to do Panther and Strange using a different format. Instead of telling the origins, dragging the momentum of the phases down, just assume the characters are established and move forward. Could mean they're rethinking their villain strategy too.

They already confirmed that this movie is going to be an origin story.
