Do the pointmen in Backbreakers have any advantage over the Assault class which have assault rifles as well?

Edit: Doorkickers, not backbreakers lol

I had one of the coupons so I went ahead and grabbed it for $5 (figured I should buy something this sale other than pinball tables). Of course I still haven't even gotten around to playing Portal 2...

Maybe because I'm still high on Talos fumes or something but I think this is a better game than Portal / Portal 2 :O

This is my library (new to steam):

Grim Dawn
Hotline Miami
Spelunky
Rogue Legacy
Super Meat Boy

Might add some more money for a few more purchases..

Ha ha that topic title!
I purchased Bastion, Transistor, Mark of the Ninja: Special Edition DLC, Hard Reset: Extended edition and Starpoint Gemini 2 Gold Pack. So not an awful lot, but all nice.
Bastion, transistor, and mark of the ninja are good no doubt. On the other hand hard rest was a surprise to me and I found it to be a good shooter. It's a classic shooter with an interesting gun mechanic with its upgrade system. It's not just a corridor shooter and there are puzzles involved which already make it different from all the shooters on the market today.

Welcome! That's a pretty nice haul but as a steam first timer I suggest trying out games you wouldn't normally on console or that you can't find anywhere else. I just go into steam around this time last year and I've already got almost 300 games. Watch for humble bundles, bundle stars, indie gala, etc. now and you can save a lot of money. It will also give you a chance to play games you wouldn't have otherwise and you'll find some real gems.

Root Double Kickstarter on January 5th

Yes, I know, another SekaiProject KS. But Root Double is an awesome game. This will probably be my last SP project I back for a very long time.

Normally, I'd brush off anything Sekai Project related. However, seeing that it involves the director of Ever17 plus the synopsis doesn't sound too bad, I'm gonna keep an eye on this. Plus it makes use of the number 9 and I'm a sucker for VNs that have the number 9 in them.

Yeah sounds classic indeed. I like that, as long as they are not too easy or stupid hard.

Good start. I second the HB tip. Even if you don't like half of the games you can't argue with the value.

A licensed Heroes game? Wowser.

i have a spare wireless dongle you can have if you give me the answer to your trivia giveaway

Thanks, I'll start checking the bundles! I don't own any consoles these days (had a 360 for a few months). I'm pc exclusive, so these are all "new" to me. Heck, the only reason I signed up was to grab Grim Dawn to play when I'm not playing Diablo 3. I've pretty much ignored games outside of Blizzard properties for a very loooooooong time, lol! Thanks for the tips!

You should get the Humble Square Enix Bundle https://www.humblebundle.com/

1 - 9 bucks for a large variety of a games depending on how much you want to spend.

I'll start looking into the bundles, thanks! :)

Advice taken! Thanks again everyone!

just played 7 hours of talos principle in a row without moving what the hell happened to my day ow my butt

Talos is the real deal. I pushed through even with it triggering my motion sickness like crazy.

Can anyone recommend some turn based strategy type games like Civilization V or Rome: Total War?,As an example, what I mean is a game with no sci-fi, no magic, no otherworldly space beings, just real life stuff. I know that might sound stuffy and I don't mean it that way, it's just that I'm really searching for stuff with no fantasy elements.

Are any of the other Total War games worth grabbing while they're on sale?

ANY single-player recommendations are welcome. I've done some exhaustive searching myself while I'm laid up hurt, but I feel like I might be missing some games or might have dismissed one. I was really liking Hard West until I saw all the supernatural stuff in the game.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Oh man if you haven't tried Path of Exile check it out now! In my opinion the best free to play game ever. Constant updates that add content. The only things you can buy are cosmetic. Alternate look for spells, weapon auras(just a color), etc. Diablo 3 slot system is a baby version of PoEs gem system. Every spell can be modified by gems that give different characteristics. I'd get into it more but I'd be talking forever.

those suggestions are questionable

just play recettear

everyone loves recettear

because recettear is love and happiness in game form

I hope you are all happy..

I bought Hexcells Infiinite and Her Story

also Arthea.. I bought The Good Life. Only you will care about that.

So Talos causes motion sickness like Portal? Was tempted to buy but might not then. Could only play portal in 5 minute chunks w/o rushing to the toilet/sink.

thinking of downloading year walk to play it tomorrow since it's got that new years eve achievement. dunno if there'll be anything special but i wanna find out

i don't think the mood's right tho, here in argieland it's hot af and year walk felt so right to play on a cold winter night that i think it'll just not be as effective

interesting tho, i really like games that try and tie things with real life stuff, like this or analogue: a hate story making you wait 24 hours between chapters or generally waiting for episodes in episodic games or hate plus making you bake a cake lol

i love this stuff, i feel it's really powerful and wish games did it more because i'm always as complicit about it as i can

i didn't have any issues with portal but i did find talos very nauseating for some reason.

what made it sufferable for me was:
- third person camera
- play with a controller
- slow movement speed
- faster than default camera speed

and not playing long chunks of it

it's a pretty good game and it plays pretty well on that setup, i just wish it didn't have that weird effect on me

I got two...

We need to make a curation group. It has to be the secret to zkylon's fame.
speaking of, here's my curator thingie that could use some followers: http://store.steampowered.com/curator/6856961/

there's no benefit to doing so outside of making me want to recommend more stuff

There's loads of options to remove both head bob and other motion sickness inducing features. Also a proper FOV slider.
You should find a setting that will work with you.

it took me a good while to find a setting that worked and even then it wasn't quite there

i really can't place what it was that made me feel sick after playing it, it's really weird

like, playing dying light, which has like parkour and running and doing quick 180s to club on zombies and shit, is perfectly fine for me.

i don't know what's about it that makes me feel bad but it's awful

it's a pity cos the game's for the most part pretty great

I think Croteam are just bad about that in general. I remember I got motion sick just watching the GB quicklook of Serious Sam BFE in a browser window.

Portal 2 actually made me a bit sick too, but nothing compared to that. I haven't played Talos.

I said that I won't be back. But since it's holidays, I'm just back to post this.

Merry (late) Christmas and Happy New Year SteamGAF, enjoy.

Croteam has nothing on Unity-based games.
I usually don't get sick, but something about Jazzpunk just made me barf less than 5 minutes into the game.
Wolf 2009 is also pretty bad about it if you don't disable head-bob while running.
