I'm just trying to use it to get some Pink Puzzle Pieces while the StreetPass Weekend is live. I can get StreetPasses from any McDonalds I go into, but that's it. I used to just be able to change my SSID and I'd get 6 every 8 hours. Now it's not working. :(

If you have a built in wlan card, it's likely you won't have to buy anything. Just use Mac Check to check, if it's compatible. Otherwise the $10 usb adapter will be sufficient. :)
 
Nice to have other puzzles to work on :) Youkai Watch is almost done, and Happy Home Designer has a couple on it as well.

I started this game on April 16 and just got one of every last species. My last species, a
Golden Salmon
, was the 3575th catch. 2165 anglers met, 228 trips taken, 637 group catches made, 241 treasure chests found.

I'll probably continue playing this until we get new Streetpass games; I'm pretty close to silver medaling some islands.

Hey, congrats. I've pretty much given up after gold medalling the inner isles. Might continue onward again now that I can cheat my way to the end with Homepass and get the rest of the gold medals I need.
 
i just need one more hat to get every hat currently out. i guess i'll be grinding Fishing since it's the hat you get by beating the game.

now that i see this list, it makes sense why i got so many German miis in Tomodachi Life. the SSID i was using was macdonalds from Germany.

I'm so happy I FINALLY got the second ticket from a gold chest in Monster Manor! I still need around 15 puzzle boxes, but since I'm on floor 29, it won't happen until the next play through. Also hoping that I could get every weapon upgraded to +2, but won't be making that goal either, since I heard that NG+ only lets you keep one weapon :/ Ugh it'll feel so incomplete, but whatever. I didn't strategize my tickets out well during the beginning, to make it all possible in one run :/
 
I sort of dropped off playing the extra games because I had already acquired every plaza ticket (I am now only missing 12 plaza tickets via collecting birthdays), but I don't see myself stopping fishing anytime soon. It's easily the most engrossed I've been with any of the Streetpass games.

I still think it was a bit much that I had caught over three thousand fish before finally getting the last plaza ticket though.
 
I'm still trying to get my medal for Monster Manor... how many levels are there? (I'm at 41 I think)

and it's almost impossible to get all the gold medals for the Garden game :/

I believe floor 50 is the last.

Getting golds for Garden jobs definitely requires some cooperation with the people you're passing in order to create very specific cross-breeds.

how do you manage for fishing though.
I just can't seem to get the higher grades for the common fish

(can't even find enough materials to upgrade the top fishing rod)

I wasn't at all concerned about grades until I built a rod with 8+ Anglers Big Catch Boost (initially level 2, only recently remade with level 3). That has increased the rate of A+ acquisition from maybe one a month to one every other queue. Mixing baits seems to be a minimal boost at best and I only mix bait to get rid of baits that don't attract anything in the area. It's Big Catch Boost that really matters.

That reminds me, I heard on the USgamer podcast that streetpass might be waning in popularity in Japan. Well, Jeremy Parish was saying that at TGS he got way less streetpass hits than he did a year before and I was thinking the killing of the pink pieces would have been compensation for this but here we are back in 40 piece, 8 pink glory.

Fishing is by far the worst game for getting the tickets on. The requirement to get all the fish is going to take most people a lifetime.

Is there any way cheating this by changing your router settings? There was a special Charizard given out for Pokemon by Nintendo Zone a while ago and you could change your router settings to get it without having to go to a Nintendo Zone.

It's all based on AP SSIDs usually, so one would have to make a un-encrypted access point with the proper SSID. Dunno if the DS itself has to be from the region though (don't you need to run an application to get those?)

somebody needs to go check the SSID perfectly (not "oh, it had a space in it somewhere lawl computers") and then testing can commence.
 
Both new puzzles done, aaaand back into the vault Puzzle Swap goes! That really was a long time in between puzzles, so I hope we get more. There's so many potential puzzles we can have, but they seem choosy on what they do (and some take their sweet time to get made/localized for the west).

Fishing was a bust during PSX weekend. I think I only got 2 new fish, neither being rares either, and the colour combinations of bait were all pretty useless :/ Did the most progress with Battleground Z and getting more rare zombies, since there was a good selection of weapons.
 
Mario and Luigi Paper Jam puzzle out in NA. 15 pieces, all blues. I already have had this puzzle on JP for quite some time.

National StreetPass Weekend in the U.S. 12/24-1/4. Kyle is here again too, but amazingly has no puzzle pieces for either Paper Jam or Happy Home Designer.

Everyone get their brand new Green Kyle? I think it's the sixth KyleI have... lol

I had to restart my 3DS and turn off/on streetpass in the plaza before the puzzle showed up.

Weird, no puzzle yet for me, though I got Kyle. Curious as to why this isnt Nikki. Perhaps they are a couple.
 
I took my 3DS to the biggest and probably one of the busiest malls in all of Canada and got a single street pass.

I've had my 3ds for over a year at this point and have so few street passes. How are most people getting there street passes? Is everyone using the wifi trick?

I normally just wait until an event happens (like PAX or an anime convention) to do any significant streetpassing. I'll stop into a McDonalds or Home Depot now and then for relays also.

I don't think those relay stations work in canada even though they are advertised too. I once got 5 streetpasses at the airport and I was super excited to finally be able to engage with the content.

Not sure how people are justifying paying for additional games when its basically locked behind meeting people in the real world.

I had my 3DS in my bag this week while walking around the two biggest cities in England and got one lonely streetpass. Unless you hit relays there aren't many people out there.
 
I FINALLY GOT PUERTO RICO!!! So glad I had to go out and do a lot today, during national street pass week. Had to go to Home Depot too, so it helped :) Still need Mississippi and Washington DC... DC will prob be the harder of the two to get.
 
I have had stomach flu all weekend and have missed out on 2 viable days to try to complete my USA map :(. I think we still have a few days right?

I live in Dallas, but my most consistent streetpass source is still relays. Looking at the malls most little kids just use their parent's smartphones now. We are the dinosaurs with handhelds at this point. :(
 
Niceeeee I actually got Mississippi during my errands today! Think I walked by a Starbucks in a mall or something and got some. Only Washington DC to go! I doubt I'll be able to get that one until another relay...
 
So I'm in an airport and I streetpassed 2 special Miis. Ben with a ROB hat and some austrian woman playing Terraria. Google doesn't really tell me anything. Are these hacked miis or did I pass a Nintendo zone somehow or what.

Hackers have known how to set the Special Mii flag for a while now. You could have gotten them from a relay you walked by since it's still Streetpass "Weekend" until next week.
 
I finally got the last card I needed to complete the set (card 40) in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games: Virtual Card Album :D

I never thought I would complete this after all this time.

Congrats, that's a true achievement. I didn't think anybody would ever finish it :lol
 
Do I really have to wait for random fish spawns in Ultimate Angler once I've caught all normal fishes? That's incredibly bullshit considering how rare those spawns are and the fact you can get one but not the required bait, rendering it useless :/
