Bloodborne is objectively the best game of the year. You might like another game more and that's fine, but no game achieved its ambitions with such a level of simultaneous reckless ambition and graceful poise.

BB is my GOTY from a mile, but there is no such thing as an objective GOTY, and certainly not in a year with Witcher 3, Pillars of Eternity, Fallout 4, MGS V, Her Story, Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, Soma, Life is Strange and many others.

Come on.

Glad it made #1 for Gametrailers (and many others), but whichever lists it didn't top (and Witcher 3 got many more #1 spots overall) aren't automatically invalidated because of that, even if I happen to disagree with said lists.

Depends how good DSIII is. I don't recall a ton of complaints about DSII not winning. Last Guardian, Uncharted 4 and Zelda I think will all have potential for the award, and you never know what surprise games there will be.

It didn't get nominated but it was nice to see a shoutout to Life is Strange off the top. That being said I saw that winner coming a mile away. It had the same impact as Hearthstone did last year and seemingly everyone that talked about it from GT from what I saw seemed to think very highly of it.

Edit: they also kinda gave it away with Bloodborne beating the Witcher for best RPG considering the way they said they determined genre winners.

I expected to see MM instead of Fallout 4 for nominees. But knew it was a Witcher vs BB showdown.
But BB was consistently the most talked about game by the Gt staff all year long
