If you have people to play with. All of the DLC is related to misc multiplayer modes. I have had a lot of fun with them with friends, but without friends, it probably wouldn't be worth it.

It's four different modes, three of them support 6 people, one of them supports two.

The one that supports two is a weird Puzzle-game type spin on Mercenaries where you have a grid on screen and you need to defeat certain types of enemies to fill the grid, make combos, and getting combos drops more tough enemies on your friends arena to deal with. It's actually pretty interesting and fun.

However, the real fun is in the other three modes. One of them is Versus, where it can be an up to six people free-for-all of sliding into each other, quick scoping, and whatever. When you die, you turn into a monster, like a zombie or something else, and if you get the killing blow on a human player you're revived, last person standing is the winner. The second is a mod where you have to defend a BSAA agent with two teams, one team plays as human characters, the other plays as monsters, a time limit to protect/kill him in.

The most fun mode is probably Ustanak Mode, all of the Mercenaries stages are altered somewhat (like Edonia stage gets turrets and the lower area is closed off), one player plays as Ustanak andf the other 1-5 players as humans fighting it. Last one standing is the winner, there is a time limit, and weapon drops are had to give the humans/Ustanak a powerful advantage (but the humans can destroy Ustanak's weapon before he picks it up, Ustanak can destroy humans weapon before they pick it up). It's quite a fun and frantic mode as Ustanak can do everything from just charging, to throwing grenades, stretching out an extendable claw, punching people bluntly, picking up and throwing players (throwing downed players at another player to knock them over is the best), and the Ustanak's bonus weapons are the misc weapons from the game he gets in boss fights, the shotgun and the ball-and-chain.

Thanks mate.
RE6 supports 'splitscreen' 2 player right? I'm thinking of hooking up 2 PS4 controllers to my PS4 and me and my brother can play it together on my HDTV. I think I'll get the complete edition in this case, or get the base game and get the DLC using Gaben $$$ and save a few bucks :P

Is it likely for Sayonara UmiharaKawase to come back any time soon or should I buy the trilogy for THIRTY dollars from humble bundle before it's too late?

Interesting, but that seems to be if you pre-order the Jan bundle? Either way I can still buy the Jan bundle for $12 after it unlocks/is revealed right?

No, you have to preorder the bundles. One game from the January bundle will be given out to entice people to preorder the Feb bundle.

Windows 10 question:

When I hit the reset button, and choose the option to preserve files is it the Users folder that gets backed up? Or just my account's folder?

Humble seems to be out of keys, so it's probably already too late.
Oh, it still shows add to cart as available but oh well. I will have to fish out in the wild.

Their comment:
ATTENTION: We have run out of Steam keys for UmiharaKawase Trilogy, but more are on their way! As soon as we receive more Steam keys, we will add them to your download page. Sorry about the delay!

Well, I bought it in the hope that their statement is truthful. Hopefully it works out, lol. As of right now I get the keys are temporarily exhausted message. By my luck I'll get them tomorrow and then they will go back up at sale price right there afterwards.

started thinking seriously about getting a steam controller. i was thinking mostly as a remote mouse rather than for gaming strictly.

anyone have much experience with general non-game use?

Yeah. The mouse takes a little getting used to, but then feels natural. The keyboard is less so and is straight up remarkable.

But I haven't used it for porn browsing, if that's what you were insinuating...

And Happy New Year, y'all.

Got $7.50 left I'm spending for the sale.

I'll take any recommendations to either be or equal up to that amount, then posting my haul. WHAT DO YOU GOT TO SUGGEST ME, GAF?

No that works.

Use:

Tomb Raider: Anniversary - key-goes-here
Tomb Raider: Underworld - key-goes-here2

Unless they're bundled?

I did exactly that, but I might have hit enter after the key because it went onto the next line. That might have fucked it up. HAPPY NEW YEAR EAST COAST STEAMGAF

As someone who often uses their 4K TV as a secondary monitor for gaming the steam controller has been a huge boon for general browsing and simple things such as changing the audio from my headphone setup to my TV's speaker bar.

Shadowrun Returns & Dragonfall
edit: and play Downwell ya dummy

I've actually played a bit of Downwell, and I have heard good things on Shadowrun but can be strangely picky on top-downish games. I do like the art though, and have heard good words. Best element to help weigh some?

Dark Echo
NEO Scavenger

Dark Echo is tempting as a horror fan, but I have played a few audio-focused horror games. Neo Scavenger has my top-downish pickiness, but I can play them. What's the best element of it, as I asked above with Shadowrun?

Higurashi Ep. 1
The Ys series

Not a bad suggestion, but I do own both the whole Ys series and Higurashi already (Even Higurashi Episode 2! : D ). [though others without it, consider it]

Regarding Dark Echo
What do you envision when you think "horror game"? The jump scares of Five Nights and Slender? The otherworldly dread of Silent Hill? Or perhaps the nightmarish monstrosities of Dead Space and The Evil Within? The recently released Dark Echo boasts the most minimalist of visuals, instead conjuring horror from the unknown and unseen and an atmospheric soundscape.

Massively expanded and improved from the developer's Ludum Dare entry You Must Escape, Dark Echo is a sound-based horror game. A black screen, with your white footprints the only color amid the surrounding dark. Every level in Dark Echo begins this way. Move forward and lines emanate in all directions, the sound of your footsteps visualized, bouncing off the walls and revealing the environment. Without sound, you are blind. Your goal is simply to find the exit. However, that task is easier said than done, because you are not alone in these passages. Things lurk in the darkness, drawn by the sound of your movement. Hunting you.

What's most impressive about Dark Echo is how it builds on its core mechanic of seeing through sound. The beginning levels lay the foundation: walk around to reveal the surrounding, stomp to send out a larger wave of sound that lets you see more of the level. Soon you're introduced to the creatures that are attracted by sound, followed by the fact that you can move slowly to take soft silent steps and throw stones as distractions, turning Dark Echo into a tense game of cat and mouse where sound is your only means of sight. Water that amplifies your footsteps and slows your movement, switches, crushing walls, deadly terrain, and more add to the challenge and complexity of later levels.

Dark Echo is a masterful execution of minimalist design. Each step is tense, drawing you forward through the necessity of sight and the need to explore. The visuals, stark lines contrasting against black, are simplistic yet work so well, reminiscent of splattering paint to reveal the world in The Unfinished Swan. But it's the sound design that truly sells the game's atmosphere. Your footsteps, hollow against stone and squishing against undergrowth. The guttural growls of those things lurking in the dark. Water splashing and sloshing, or dripping overhead. Flies buzzing in agitated swarms, croaking frogs. Heavy locks and groaning doors.

Regarding NEO Scavenger
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1161900
I can't praise this game enough. It's gripping and intense, and the world is fascinating, filled with scavengers and otherworldly monstrosities. The depth here is outstanding. Moving across the map leaves tracks that fade away dynamically based on the terrain and weather. Enemies can follow you if you don't cover your tracks, but you can do the same to them. Making a campfire on a open field with little cover might keep you warm, but you'll be visible to roaming enemies. Having an athletic perk can provide the option of diving through a window, but make sure to treat the ensuing cuts or else you'll probably die from those exposed wounds.

Combat is flavor text and choices, but the options here make every encounter feel like a desperate life-and-death slugfest. If you get knocked down, you can choose to roll out of the way or pull the enemy down to the ground. You can take cover and hide, surrender, try to force enemies to surrender, bluff enemies into surrendering with an empty gun. Shatter an broken bottle on an enemy's head and you'll be left with a glass shard to defend yourself. Try to make a desperate retreat on rough terrain and you may trip, break a rib, get knocked unconscious.

I remember one playthrough. Suffering from infection, down to a glass shard, I attempted a desperate ambush on a pair of bandits for their supplies. One went down in the struggle, the other left me for dead in the rain with broken ribs and fractured skull. I don't last the night

Coolios, in that case I ain't got much to recommend outside of Kero Blaster but that one is $8.99.

Cyberpunk fantasy with top notch writing. Fun, tactical combat with lots of different playstyles (Guns, Melee, Summoning, Sorcery, etc.)

So I'm in an endless BSOD loop after refreshing Windows 10. The specififc error is "APC Imdex Mismatch". I've looked on Google but I'm not really getting anywhere. Any ideas?

Edit: Looks like it could be related to the Realtek Audio Driver, which I did have installed.

All signs point to AssCreed going back to a present-day protagonist

Goodbye, Initiate

"Hello, Initiate." Those are the opening words to Assassin's Creed Syndicate. "Initiate" is you, the player, as the last several Assassin's Creed games (Black Flag, Rogue, Unity, and Syndicate) have made you the out-of-Animus protagonist. Your job has been to covertly unravel the memories for the Assassins while using Abstergo's (the Templars) equipment.

Over the past three years, Ubisoft has put less and less of an emphasis on the present-day story. The original Assassin's Creed through Assassin's Creed III told Desmond's arc, but current happenings have since become an afterthought. There's good reason to believe that will change with the next installment in the series.

The recently-released Jack the Ripper add-on to Assassin's Creed Syndicate contains six Assassin intel files that detail the faction's highest priorities and future direction. The video embedded above has all of them laid out in order for easy reading.

The third file is of particular interest. In it, an influential Assassin says "I think the continued involvement of the Initiates is dangerous. They are not trained Assassins ... Involving a large number of civilians who simply happen to own a device connected to Helix puts them directly in the Templars' crosshairs." In the fifth file, another Assassin agrees with this sentiment.

Finally, Bishop, the one leading the Initiate charge, confirms that the Assassins are shutting down the program. She states "To any Initiates reading this, thank you for your great service. For your own safety we will not be contacting you for the foreseeable future. But the fight isn't over, and there's a good chance you'll hear from me again."

That's more than enough to suggest that we, the players, won't be the modern-day stars of Assassin's Creed for a while. However, this theory is heavily supported by the fact that Ubisoft recently shut down the Initiates website, the network where players could link all of their Assassin's Creed progress. It seems as if Ubisoft has no continued plans to make the player part of the game in any capacity.

But, all of this presents a chicken-and-egg type of scenario. Did Ubisoft close the Initiates program to fall in line with the direction the game is moving? Or, did Ubisoft want to close the Initiates program, so it had the Jack the Ripper developers add a few lines of explanatory text? That's an answer we'll likely never get.

Regardless, it seems as if Assassin's Creed's Initiates push will end at four games. Next, we'll likely either have another notable present-day protagonist in the vein of Desmond, or Ubisoft will just do away with that facet of the series. The latter's tough to envision, so we might be moving toward an Assassin's Creed where modern day matters again.

just got home from usual new years partying

i don't care for the holidays or anything, but they sure get you in the mood for this kinda crap, so general thank you people for being part of my life

2015 in particular has been a rollercoaster ride for me in like very personal levels as well as professional stuff down to the very last week and i wouldn't have been able to survive it without the friendships i've made here. i'm a really mood swingy kind of person and it's silly how many times i've gotten back up thanks to you dumbos

i really hope my antics are in some way entertaining enough to give back for all i've received over the years :p

anyways, enough with this shitty year, we didn't have ladykiller in a bind or persona 5 and the only souls game was a damn console exclusive. on with 2016 already!

Well, I'm done with the sale now.

dod source? what

im guessing you dont intend to play it. there can't be more than 4 people playing that game still

As I said below, that one was gifted to me. The most use I'll have for it is for the rare Gmod stuff that uses assets and stuff from it, which is relatively rare but I guess they had a spare copy for some reason.

There is. Unless you actually good at game then u get banned from all the servers aND are stuck with bots or can find people to do a 12 man but leagues are dead

I'm really excited to replay Resident Evil 0 next year, with them having higher resolution backgrounds available it should hold up a lot better visually. I remember enjoying the game quite a bit back the day too outside of having to remember where I'd dropped items.

Got my killer instinct in, I'm liking Sadira and Orchid. Hopefully the PC port is soon, with a discount.

March was the last I heard, to coincide with season 3 release. I'm just wondering how good any discounts will end up ever being, since it is cross buy with the Xbox version. Though I'll admit I'm more than a little tempted to get it day one.
