So basically that Reddit thread about isolation was by someone who paid after the January deadline? Pretty funny.

That's definitely not on Humble, that's on the dummies who couldn't read.

Edit: ok not exactly, but the picture they posted specifically said pay early for the February bundle to get AI.

This has nothing to do with "dummies who couldn't read".

For the first two bundles, the model was that new subscribers get a game from the previous monthly. First monthly gave a bonus of Grimrock II, second monthly gave a bonus of Towerfall Ascension (from first monthly), third monthly gave a bonus of Payday 2 (from second monthly)...

When an image leaked showing that February subscribers got Alien Isolation, based on the established model it was a perfectly reasonable conclusion that AI was in the current monthly (and would be offered as the bonus game for the next month). However, Humble changed how their bonus for new subscribers works, but there's no way anybody could have known this until ~2 hours ago.

(I didn't subscribe but think it's a great bundle regardless of AI not being included.)

Marlow Briggs was really fun until they made me fight boring-ass bugs for like 18 straight hours. I'm finally fighting people again, please let it last...

But the actual fact of the matter that the people who fell for it don't really want to talk about is that this is a lesson in maybe not spending money based on a JPEG off Reddit that you cannot possibly verify the legitimacy of. The biggest mistake here is obviously on the fools who did this, not Humble, but that's embarassing so let's just be mad at Humble instead.

Undertale is legit yo.

Is Marlow Briggs on sale somewhere?

No way other than reading the text that said "pay early for February's bundle to receive Alien Isolation", provided to a person who had already paid for January's bundle. That page was meant for that guy, not all of Reddit. Should Humble have waited to have that message pop up until after the Jan bundle was released? Probably, and it probably only showed up because someone was being lazy and didn't want to work on New Year's Day. But I don't think it was intentionally misleading and people mostly got butt hurt because the collective Internet can be kind of stupid.

Full disclosure I have subbed to the bundle since it began.

i got a question :

If i wanted to buy ff14 should i just buy the vanilla + Heavensward version or only the standalone vanilla version ? is the latter still worth buying ?

Heavensward only opens up after completing the main storyline and all the post-launch story content. Best to wait until you decide if you want to stick around.

Another critical blow against: Thea: The Awakening. There is only an autosave system with no way to access or save specific things. In a 4x. In 2015 2016. Come on, devs. I mean, yes, it's probably due to the persistent unlock system in Thea, but that's not much of an excuse for such a core gameplay feature.

Also, the autoresolve formula is whack. I'm not clear how it works--perhaps it's difficulty-based--but it seems heavily weighted in the player's favour from what I've seen so far. Makes autoresolve, far and away, the best way to complete and challenges.

Lol, I'm shocked at how often this works.

fucking damn it. i wanted to buy the monthly humble but i came home too late, now i'm seeing apparently it had talos principle, grim fandango and alien isolation, among others, for a measly 12$

damn it :((

First, you can actually turn on manual save if you customize your difficulty. The reason why they went with autosave as a default was to prevent people from save scumming difficult choices and get them to live with the results of their decisions.

Second, the way the autoresolve works is based on the difficulty of the challenge. If you're playing a challenge that's level 1 and have a well leveled group, it's an instant win. If you have a really well equipped group it's also an instant win against 2 stars. But, if you're not overleveled for the challenge, autoresolve gets you bad results.

I will say, though, that the loading screens are excessively long.

OMG, what a bummer. I was thinking about getting it because of alien, but damn, usually the game they give for sure is one included in the previous one.
I don't really like the Humble Monthly, I don't like buying a bundle of games blindly.

Ah, interesting. The game doesn't explain itself well. Really wish it had better presentation and writing--it'd sell the world being presented a lot more. Civ-styled backgrounds on units items, etc, both in-village and monstrous, would also add a lot of presence. The UI really needs an overhaul, too. I quite like the music, though.

As to the general clunkiness and performance, it's a Unity game. That it works at all is a relative miracle.

Played level 3 of Turok (and went back to level 2). Do you like FPS's? Do you like FPS's that are filled with secrets? Do you like bombastic gameplay? If so, get Turok. It's even better than it was in '97 on Nintendo 64.

So to clarify, if I purchase HB Monthly February now, I'll get Alien Isolation immediately?

Or how does it work?

For sure, if you've purchased the January bundle, it gives you the opportunity to pay early for the February bundle, which does unlock Alien early.

I've actually been really impressed with the Humble monthly bundles. I skipped the second one, because the first one had too many games that I already had... but the games that were duplicates were really good games.

So, I picked up this most recent one. It had some games I wanted, like Mushroom 11, but had games that were spares, like Talos Principle and Spelunky. Again, the duplicates were really good games.

Coincidentally, the bundle I skipped between had the most games I wanted that I didn't have... (Neon Struct, at the top...)

But Alien Isolation will be in the Monthly Bundle for February. We just won't know what the other 5 will be.

And its just the game, no season pass or anything.

DLC isn't necessary in the slightest in regards to story. I own it all on my console version of the game.

Besides, for a game that's still CDN$49.99 on the store, getting it vanilla alongside other titles for USD$12 isn't much loss, unless you don't want anything else in the bundle.

No, as far as I understand it will be a addition to the bundle. There will be 6 games in the bundle that you receive AND you receive Alien Isolation as well.
Thats suggested by the image on the humble bundle page as well:
