They announced what is two of the coolest costumes for her in my opinion at the same time, her Basketball RE2 Easter Egg costume and her Resident Evil Director's Cut alternate costume (which I realized I forgot to add originally, so edited in now).

There was an alternate? IIRC the only Alternate was the Cowgirl outfit?

Did the dongs riddle ever get solved

Not that I'm aware of.

Finally made the winter sale badge. This is my first time doing this whole trading card/badge making thing. I don't get it. The background doesn't even look nice. I don't think I'll ever really understand steam trading cards lol.

RE2make is going to absolutely wreck everything as far as digital sales go

Speaking of that. I find it odd that Biohazard: Code Veronica X wasn't ported to Steam despite it being put on MT Frameworks for the console re-release. So weird, given that MT Frameworks runs pretty damn well on PC.

What is the next significant sale after this? I already have enough to play on top of planning to get Dragon's Dogma and The Witness but it would be nice to have Galak-Z to play after that.

I don't understand them either. Tried looking it all up online and I'm still in the dark. Luckily other people love them for some reason so its easy card sales for me.

RE2make is going to absolutely wreck everything as far as digital sales go (If Capcom doesn't fuck this up by trying to RE4-ify a classic). If everything goes smooth I'm sure they'll announce RE3make as fast as they can. That is definitely the RE I've wanted to see remade most.

This was a pleasure to read. RE0 isn't my favorite RE, but it's definitely one of the pre-RE4 ones I appreciate most. It's definitely a beautiful game and I prefer it's version of co-op play compared to what the new RE titles offer. I think people who put in the time are going to find it a perfectly good survival horror experience. The music, visuals, puzzles and gameplay (stale for it's time, but pretty damn novel these days for a Capcom title) will surely be worth the $15.

If REmake 2 is good, it's sure to sell well. Outside of RE2 being one of Capcom's top-selling games of all time and one of the best-regarded RE games (REmake being another), plus the growth of people who have displayed they'll buy any game RE related (*coughsasoneofthem*), if the game is good and advertised especially it is sure to find some success. REmake HD recently selling over a million copies digitally is also a good sign for it.

And of course, that is another thing, Zero is Zero, it's a solid survival-horror game, and those are rare these days, and the game has had a limited releasein the past and this is the first globally available release, so I'm sure it'll do okay, but I want to vouch it's no REmake, but it is a solid survival-horror title and I hope this Remaster changes some peoples opinions (there's a split on the game, I do know there's many who think Zero is the most tedious and one of the worst games in the franchise).

There was an alternate? IIRC the only Alternate was the Cowgirl outfit?

If I understand what you're asking correctly, in the original Zero only the Cowgirl and Leather costumes were alternates for Rebecca, and Billy only had the Yakuza alternative costume. In the HD Remaster, they announced a lot of costumes, and Famitsu announced the Basketball Rebecca and Red Director's Cut outfits for Rebecca-

OH, in the middle of me typing this, I understood what you meant! You mean in Director's Cut! Silly me. XDDD Deciding to keep this to show how my mindset worked.

In REmake, Rebecca's only alt costume is the cowgirl costume (which is also in Zero). However, in older RE's, Rebecca had other costumes.

In Resident Evil: Director's Cut for the PSX, rebecca had an alternate costume which is the red costume she has, but it was only in the Director's Cut of RE previously:
640

Also, a fun fact, Rebecca's Cheerleader costume is actually her other costume that was exclusive to the Nintendo DS Resident Evil 1 port, Deadly Silence:

latest

They've literally put every costume Rebecca has ever had (including her Basketball easter egg outfit from RE2) into the game, she had different outfits between all the different versions of RE1, and I guess for Zero they kind of just brought all of them together now. XD;

Actually played a little bit of FFXIII-2 proper and boy the combat moves a lot better than in the previous game. I can't even tell how much I appreciate the faster paradigm shift animation. Also Serah seems like a better character already than Lightning ever was.

Welp, was planning on buying a bunch of stuff this sale, but really didn't get into the buyers mood this sale. The lack of crazy flash deals really killed the fun for me. This is my mediocre haul this sale:

- Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition
- Claptastic Voyage and Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 (Borderlands Pre-sequel dlc)
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Really a strange list for me. Bought UT out of pure nostalgia and the TPS dlc only because my co-op buddies wanted to play it. CS:GO has always been the game I wanted to buy on steam, but never did because I already spend my money on other cool stuff in a sale, this was the first steam sale that was mediocre enough to me to just spend it on that. This sale did fill up my wishlist though thanks to trading card queue thing and the recommendations here, hopefully next sale will be a return to form so I can clear that out again.

I don't believe for a second that Capcom will never port Code Veronica X to PC. Why they haven't yet, not 100% sure, but you know they will eventually, especially since they seem to be working on porting and making new versions of all of the older Resident Evil games in the MT Framework engine.

Code Veronica X and Umbrella & Darkside Chronicles all have MT Framework ports that came out for PS3/360. I just think Capcom is focused on other things and will port those to PC another time... Unless Capcom has plans to make a much updated version of Code Veronica, which would be interesting.

Once Zero HD Remaster and RE2 REmake are available, the only 'big' Resident Evil games that'll need to be on Steam are RE3 and Code Veronica, and then Steam will have every main RE game on it. Though I do secretly hope Capcom release the original RE1-3 on Steam for prosperity (all the older RE's had older PC ports, I appreciate the remakes and would pick REmake > RE1 personally any day of the week, but I'd buy both), and my real big hope is they may take some of the spin-offs and bring them to Steam. If they port either the Outbreak games or Dead Aim to Steam, you can be I'll be raving about it here a lot.

Man The Last Remnant sure has aged well. Im glad I decided to stick to it and finally understand the systems. Not as complicated as I thought and actually pretty fun once you get the hang of things.

Huh. Didn't know of the Director's Cut outfit. I knew of the Deadly Silence one. But that's probably because I never play Chris. :x

I thought the GMG 25 percent off code that works on particular games (like RE0 and DD) ended January 12? Its the 4th? If that is the case, I might have to use it on the Dragon's Dogma to get that 22.50 price.

The system is the biggest problem of the game though =/
Everything is so damn random.

They could have called the game "Odds Management: Chances of Possibilities" and it would have been a perfect name.

It's the 12th, I was mistaken with another coupon, I should edit my post to say that. XD;

The 25% coupon expires on the 12th, and yes, can be used to get Resident Evil Zero HD for $15.00 USD, and for Dragon's Dogma for $22.50 USD.

That game is underrated as hell.

I think the main issue is how they feed you the info at the beginning and locking some stuff just to ease you into the game when its not complicated and those tools that get held up are important for the big chains or the different tactics you could use in combat. The gameplay is easy to follow. People need to think of each group as 1 characters. The battlefield view is awesome seeing everyone around doing the fights in groups. Sure there could be some tweaks to be done but its actually a pretty good game. There might be some annoying difficulty spikes here and there but the game is enjoyable.

That is actually something that could have been improved IMO. There should be more options for the management to get things how you want them to happen.

Cool, cool. Thanks for the correction, I just didn't want to miss out. Shame, I bought RE0 with the 20 percent code instead of the 25 one. Oh well, what you going do, still discount.

Got this game years ago and haven't even installed it. How is the story in the game?

Is the winter sale/steam working off of PST time zone? It mentioned the holiday cards go poof at 12 PM so I'm wondering if that's according to a specific time zone.

Are you in Central time zone? Cause that would be 10AM Pacific which is usually standard for when the sales end.

Going left for a higher FOV is seriously throwing me off.
No indication on Film Grain now leaves me baffled which way is more/less, haha.

Devs did a magnificent job at disorienting the player even before starting it!

Its not breaking any new grounds but so far I think its alright. It's nothing mindblowing but enjoyable. The cast is interesting but the lead can be dumb. You should give it a try.

You'll need to quote that image to shrink it before you break everyone's tables.

Shorter, darker hair, break up the circle beard at the sides, and....pretty close.

Fixed! And it was just the first thing that came to mind when you presented the idea of Jim Carrey with a magician beard, the drill bit thing :) .

Oh, also if anyone wants it, I will post the one sale shameless plug for my own game.

Close Your Eyes

This was a short little game I made and reworked briefly twice, I had originally made the game in 36 hours for Ludum Dare, and then expanded it some last year.

The game is free, but there is a bonus 1-2 hour campaign, the soundtrack, and art collection (including concept sketches, wallpapers, etc), you can pick up here:

Close Your Eyes - Goodie Bag DLC - $1.49

Here's some misc reviews some blogs and Steam users have made on the game:

"Close Your Eyes has some sharp voice and audio design to build on its simple visuals, knowing when to quietly mutter and when to scream something almost incomprehensible. It's creepy to be sent to a hellish underworld for a murder you did commit, but it's what you hear down there that makes this journey almost too much to bear. The screams in one chapter are haunting, and I can't even think of them without getting the chills. Looking at screenshots for Close Your Eyes had me thinking it would be silly and ineffective, but through perfect use of unnerving sound and some twisted, surprising visuals, it easily left me frightened, unsure whether I should be playing it at night."
IndieGames.com

"I was skeptical about “Close Your Eyes” at first, since surrealist horror isn’t always my thing, especially when the story is ambivalent. But I gotta say, this game won my heart. I still don’t entirely know what was going on during the course of the story, but I know that I enjoyed every minute of it. And I want to punch the Host in the face, but that’s another story. I know others have found “Close Your Eyes” entirely too cryptic, but if you like a little weirdness in your horror games, and especially like it when that weirdness crosses into disturbing-as-fuck territory, do not miss this game."
NerdsRaging.com

From the five most helpful rated user reviews on Steam:
"But really, I'm not sure what to say about this game. It doesn't seem to have many jumpscares, and the ones in it might not even technically be jump scares. This game just seems to be really solid overall. It's hard to articulate into finer details but this game is scary, has great puzzles, and is definitely worth your time."

"Close Your Eyes is one of the best horror experiences I’ve had in recent memory. And as if I can’t praise it enough, it’s FREE. There is no reason (outside of mature content concerns) that anyone should pass up on a chance to experience this game. Bravo, Developers, bravo."

"12/10 would get ♥♥♥♥♥ by wolvering ghost monster again"

"as i watch the video that advertises this game with volume off i thought it was some cute comedy escape game about the grim reaper , this in my opinion is scarier than amnesia "

"This game is very creative and takes the old 8-bit gaming style to a whole new level of fun and anxiousness. This horror isn't recommended to the "I want jump scared" type, This is more for a psyhcological horror type of people but even you are into jump scares more than psyhcological stuff I recommend to give it a try and you will be surprised."

And from the 5 most recent reviews;

"Probably one of the best free games out there in today's economy.
When the meme too surpreme you let out a scream. yea i give it a solid out of 10."

"You should play this game.
Then you should watch me play it.
But play it first.
Cuz it's really good."

"Very spooky, but lots of fun "

"Why read reveiws when you can play this great game for free?

A great story, some stuff to ponder upon and a great soundtrack. Just play already!"

"The developers really quite uses great technique in creating this game, from its research as well. Manipulating people's subconcious mind, and futhermore psychological behaviour as well.

Without further ado, this game reserve a 7.5/10 review.

Pros :
+Solid story background and mysteries
+Great sense of aesthethics
+Challenging puzzles
+Good soundtrack
+Immersive branching story

Cons :
-Poor environment artwork
-Lack of UI
-Few help option

I would like to thank AesthethicGamer for creating this game as well, in the near future I will write a review as well in my own blog about this game. Thanks once again in creating a wonderful horror 2D game."

This was a quick project, I'm surprised it was received as well as it has been since I am more than aware of a few flaws it has (train puzzle near the start is really hard, key collecting in one section is tedious), but happy what people liked mostly outweighed what they didn't, and getting close to releasing two more freebie games on Steam within the next couple months (Take the Dream IX and Red Haze).

BUT, though I should mention the DLC is on sale since the last time it'll be on sale until the summer sale, likely. So happy after Red Haze my projects will have better art though as teamed-up with an artist now. XD; My doodly, child-like sprites couldn't last forever.

Alien: Isolation is a really great looking game with a lot of loving attention to detail. Still stunned at highly detailed documents.
Here a comparison between 1080p+FXAA & 4K+SMAA T2x. Difference is tangible.

What irks me and made me close to google was the high latency in movement though. I can feel too much time crossing between me moving the mouse and the camera in-game moving :/

what a shame /denton

I am in such a gaming rut. Nothing has grabbed me lately, and I always just go back to those same old games I always play. This sale didn't help as much as I hoped it would. Only thing I picked up was Hacknet.

My suggestion is to either take a break, or to dig into a type of game you never have before.
