Yeah the 1 handed tranformers: devastation run is going to be really fun.
It's the same runner that ran the 1 handed vanquish run last time and that was a blast to watch!

Pretty excited for AGDQ this year, I usually forget it's happening and only catch the stream when it's half way over but I'm prepared for this year's marathon. I'd really like to actually go to the event at some point even though I don't speedrun, still find it interesting.

They do Doctors Without Borders (Medecins sans Frontieres) in the summer marathon, so it's not always prevent cancer. Probably because the working relationship has been really good. I'm pretty sure PCF helped them rent the room and equipment last year, and maybe they did again this year.

Also, I'm so excited for the Battle Block Theatre run again. It was hilarious last year, and the devs will be skyping in again. Should be great.

I love watching the GDQ speedrun events... unfortunately this year it's during the first week of school, but at least I'll be able to spend most of tomorrow watching the opening lineup.
Interested to see how an FE speedrun will work. Can't imagine there's many glitches to pull off, probably a lot of rescue and RNG manipulations?

Like I said before, if you have time to waste and aren't planning on doing too much, give some of the lesser known runners and games a shot. A lot of the hidden gems from the GDQs are from people with like 17 regular viewers and running something that isn't a Zelda/Mario/Mega Man.
While GDQ may have it's fair share of issues as the years go on, I do really really like the trend of including more runners as well as varying the types of games up while keeping a couple fan favorites in as well.
Also for those running about who want to make sure they don't miss a run they're dying to see, someone made a GDQ app downloadable here for Android Phones that allows you to set alarms and reminders for runs you want to watch, auto-tracking them to your timezone and with donate and Twitch links. Really handy.
Also also, watch the Brain Age TAS. I promise you, that shit will be a fucking riot.

Being able to see Be a Man from Mulan sung live while KH2 is being played must be wild.

Definitely check out the small guys this year. The Transformers : Devastation and DMC runs are going to be great. Both are excellent speedruns, but the people doing them are lucky to peak at 20 viewers. As someone who's been in the community since the old days, I've grown tired of seeing the big Nintendo games each year, and it sucks to see these smaller runners go home from the marathon with 100 extra followers or less. Most of them get bad time slots, so try checking the VoDs out later and giving them a follow then. These dudes deserve more exposure for what they do, and it's a shame that the average Twitch viewer won't give anything that's not a big name a fair chance.

Alright, so I've made a small list of lesser known runs for the first day, their times (in US EST, sorry Europeans) and maybe a reason to check in on them. I may do this on the other days too if people find it helpful. Maybe to give people an idea of things to watch that they otherwise may have skipped over, I don't really need to convince anyone to watch Splatoon:
Rayman Legends - Jan. 3rd @ 2:40PM: SpikeVegeta is a well known runner, but mostly as the dude who talks during other people's runs. This is mostly due to him being a top 10 guy but never the fastest for most games he runs. But he makes up for it by being a personality and a half and he is incredibly knowledgeable about a wide swath of games and a real fun guy to listen to. His Rayman runs are a lot of fun and he's been working his ass off to get these to be real good. There's no glitches here, it's all just pitch-perfect execution so if you want to watch a platformer run that is entirely based around skill than this is the run to watch. Really fast with a lot of tricks and mechanic fuckery. Lotta fun.
Monkey Balls - Jan. 3rd @ 1:05Pm and 2:10PM: I shouldn't have to write these down. Monkey Ball runs are insanity. Watch them watch them watch them.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards - Jan. 3rd @ 4:35PM: swordsmankirby has been doing his absolute goddammndest to get this game into a run for years now and he finally has due to dedication and perfecting this game. He has gone to great trouble to make the game super optimized and quick and while there aren't any astonishing tricks or breaking glitches (since the last time I watched his runs) he's just a great dude and will make it real fun to watch due to his explanation of all the ins and outs of the game. Dude is current WR holder for this and Kirby's Epic Yarn so he's real good at2 Kirby games.
Diddy Kong Racing - Jan. 3rd @ 7:05PM: Brief on this because the runs at past GDQs shoulda made this more well known already. Toufool getting the WR at GDQ and the sheer insanity of this run is hilarious to watch. It combines incredible game-breaking glitches (you'll love the fucking Wizpig races) and just REALLY good racing which both take a lot of technical skill to complete and Toufool is a riot. I'll be honest and say I am not familiar with MrsGizamaluke but I am eager to see her if she's running it against Toufool.
Those cover mostly the ones I am familiar with and I didn't feel safe recommending runs that I hadn't seen a lot or at all before and possibly letting some people down. I myself will be watching Kirby: Squeak Squad as well as I am eager to see what type of fuckery is involved in playing it. I think I saw someone do a run where they figured out how to combine things in the stomach to get what they want every time.
I regretfully will not be able to stay up for some of the early morning stuff which I might list later tomorrow if people are looking for things to watch in the early morn or Europeans want to watch when it's a good time for them.
Like Prinny. Watch that run. Oh god.
