Kinda disappointed that it and the few after it are all races. Just not a fan of races in general, especially for games that I really want to watch already. Know that I'm probably in the minority for that though as races seem really popular.

Races can be really exciting, but it falls apart if the racers are not evenly matched or if someone has to bow out of the race.

I love racing games but not all of them are good speedruns to watch, diddy kong is cool though with all the speed tech

Eh, races are hit or miss since getting out sync significantly kinda nullifies the entire thing. It's definitely better to watch in the moment than after the fact regardless.

Those things can make them worse, but even in general the race itself doesn't really interest me even if it is close. Like I said, minority opinion since I know races generate a lot of hype, it's just not something that I care for, and on top of that splitting up the screen space for multiple players makes it harder to watch in general. Guess 2 ways arn't as bad in that regard though.

Why do you think that is?
For me, races to a lot to reveal just how much can go wrong in a speed run. It shows how much comes down to muscle memory, good planning and the right bag of tricks. Especially if you're not intimately familiar with a game, it helps give a frame of reference to the performances on display, and I enjoy that.

The extra level of competitiveness just isn't something I care about when watching these events. I end up just watching one of the screens to enjoy it, but even then since the commentary has more of a focus on the play by play of the race even that is less enjoyable to me then if they were talking about the game itself the full time.
It's not that I'm saying they are bad, I understand why other people enjoy them, I just prefer single screen runs.

I always thought about running monster hunter 3 ultimate. I think that would be interesting to say the least.

I'm the opposite, apart from the track with the train and the initial mario themed track I don't recall too many MK64 tracks, yet I can recall all DKR's tracks (and the awesome music).
Maybe like an hour or an hour and a half.
